Cross Platform: Yes, It's true

(click to show/hide)

What are you looking at? your looking at a small test of an unfinished map editor, running under Ubuntu Lynix, in a virtual box. ARC (or ARCed, it's editor, at the very least) will be cross platform and working on Windows, Mac, and Lynix at it's release or very soon after (we may release a working windows version first before we make sure that versions for the other two platforms work and release them). I've also tested the main app and loading projects on lynix and they both work. I've also tested it a bit on Mac but I've yet to get the mapeditor portion working on mac because I need xcode to build PIL and Rabbyt. (yee gods Mac is a pain in the ass to get things to build on!)

Just wanted to make sure this was clear. Have a good night folks!

I always said, it would take some independent developer to be the ones to make a RPG Maker for anything but windows, and i was right.
EB is made up of too many brain dead morons to stop and go "you know what we should do? Make this awesome software work on more than windows!" but they don't... dumbasses...

I was asking something similiar months ago when I found this place. I want arc for android so I can design and play arc-made games on my asus transformer tablet.
Would be fantastic if that was possible.

I wonder though, cross-platform and cross...cpu? Is that quite a bit different? Since its different architecture. ie: x86 vs arm.

But yeah seriously, get this shit on android and i will throw a party! not really but i will definitely lose myself in it for days, months even years!

we probably won;t make an editor for android but we will try our darn-est to make a game engine for android. the major problem with that at the moment is the fact that the underlying library we use (APRIL and friends) needs to be ported to android, which means porting it to java. and then we would need to hook in Jruby and port or code to java as well. that's one crap load of work but it should be do able.

the game package won't change you'll just package it together with the Android engine instead of the PC, Lynix, or MAC engine version.

I really don't understand why Google is making is purposely extra hard for C++ developers to get their apps and games on Android. :/

I still have bugs galore to work out, but I fixed all but 1 of the major platform issues (I think)

The only thing that I don't like about this fact is that fact that all the murder-thought-instilling procedures that you had to go through still await me when I am going to build ARC on Mac.
