Genius idea. Also, I think having a system where your party follows you on the map but doesn't just stick to a caterpillar shape would be nice. Something like squad movement or such.

Another suggestion. Making it easier to create your own RTP's and making it easier to include them. Maybe when you click Create Project it'll let you choose which rtps to use.

There will be no caterpillar and no squad based movement by default. That's what scripting is for.

why not have a built in 'charas maker ARC'.that'll make sprite creating much easier.

Why not just use Photoshop/Paint.NET/Gimp, a tool that has been made specific for image editing?

Then don't make games. If you don't like "hard work" or can't find anybody to help you, give up. Whatever kind of character sprite maker we make, if you can't use Photoshop or even just Paint to make graphics, you won't have much use for a spriteset maker as well. In the end you have to draw a graphic and no program in the world can do that for you.

There are programs like this out there. Do remember this is going to be RPG Maker XP just way better. So all resources that have been made for RMXP will be usable. And if you actually do some searching you'll find things. There are even character makers out there. Gotta look.

VX's good features, like quick events and the dungeon generator. I'd also like to be able to define my own quick events. And what does the last tab in the vx database do? I've never been able to figure it out.

@EZ: But please be reasonable with suggestions. The exclusive main reason why projects like ARC have failed so far is because people wanted to add pretty much anything that came to their mind rather than making a proper plan and sticking to it. If you add more and more features on the way, the whole engine becomes unstable, buggy and inconsistent. Besides that it takes ages to get done because you want to add so many features that nobody will use.

@Niche: As I said, that dungeon generator is crap. What do you mean by quick events? You have common events if you mean that. The last tab in VX is the localization tab. You can specify what text should be put everywhere. I think that's what you meant.

Common events aren't the same thing at all.

yeah sometimes human get excited and forget what they're dealing with. ARC is a simple game maker that can't make games like GTA, Monster Hunter, Metal Gear Solid, God Of War etc. anyway, you said VX dungeon generator is crap but what do others think? decisions should be made as a whole and based on considerations. i think u should start a poll to know what people think.

The dungeon generator will not be included. It is up to the developers to decide this, not a poll. Bad mapping is bad mapping, whether it be from a person or a program, its all the same. I personally don't want to waste my time developing a system that I know is going to be a half-assed attempt at doing something that should be done by the game's creator. If you want to use a program to make a game, it will require that you do something that requires an original thought to accomplish it. Otherwise, what's the point?

ya, no. not only in the generator in vx reliant on a very specific tile system it produces maps that would take my five minutes randomly dragging the wall tile around the map.  it's not happening. least I'M not going to make it. if the editor gets made as planed then if some one really wants to they can make a dungeon generator as a plugin. aside from that no.
I no longer keep up with posts in the forum very well. If you have a question or comment, about my work, or in general I welcome PM's. if you make a post in one of my threads and I don't reply with in a day or two feel free to PM me and point it out to me.

Oh, the irony. While looking for some information about Ruby/C++ interfaces I came across a thread at the Ruby forum where some guy was obviously trying to implement RGSS in C# and IronRuby. The posts where from over half a year ago. Since no word got out in the community, I doubt that he made any significant progress. It was probably exactly because of these reasons that I mentioned above.

I saw that same topic a few days ago. I saw that there was a demo of some sort, but I didn't even bother with it after seeing the last activity was a while ago, I didn't really even bother checking it out. My original idea was to use IronRuby and C# for the ease it would take to do it, but after some more thinking about it since we started ARC, I've realized that that using Ruby and C++ was the far better choice.

I think it would be a good idea to add a vehicle system, like in RPG Maker VX.
Things I Hate

1. People who point at their wrist asking for the time... I know where my watch is pal, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is?

2. People who are willing to get off their a** to search the entire room for the TV remote because they refuse to walk to the TV and change the channel manually.

3. When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too". Damn Right! What good is cake if you can't eat it?

4. When people say "it's always the last place you look". Of course it is. Why the hell would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they?

5. When people say while watching a film, "did ya see that?" No Loser, I paid $12 to come to the cinema and stare at the damn floor!

6. People who ask "Can I ask you a question?"... Didn't give me a choice there, did ya sunshine?
