Crafting is broken. In general. Combining all three ofthem you can make yourself invincible. Although the maximum damage reduction is 80%, which you can reach with damn near any equipment you feel like, with smithing.

I think it's intentional, not broken. xD One of the charms of the TES series was that you could always find a way to overpower yourself totally. xD

Ok this is just stupid. I have to get into the labyrinthian for the mage college quest line. there are THREE frost trolls and a DRAGON in from of it.
the dragon isn't a big deal but ONE frost troll can kill me in a matter of seconds. the cut right through my full set of superior dwarven armor and I can barely damage them in return. how the HELL are you supposed to kill ONE of them let alone THREE AT ONCE! the dragon actually made it easier because it can help me kill the trolls. or it was until two of the trolls ganged up on it and killed it quicker than I could.

Use status effects. Get something to freeze them or paralyze them and poison them and stuff. I also suggest you check through all your magic to see which ones you can use to make yourself tougher or stronger in attack. Potions are also helpful, especially the ones that increase your skills for certain amounts of time. You can also try to take on one by one troll from afar. e.g. Get a bow or use a spell to get one of the trolls to hunt you. Then climb up somewhere so they can't reach you and keep slowly attacking. In any case, try to take them on one by one. You can often do that by luring one of them and taking it on by itself.

I had problems with a frost troll when I was going up High Hrothgar, but in front of Labyrinthian I disposed of them rather easily. I even took on two of them at the same time at one point (I was level 24 or 25).

I have no issues with trolls. I stacked HP, so I'm durable. Also, how forged up are your weapons? And do you have the Gauldur amulet? That one is POWERFUL, I recommend doing that quest. Read the books, a number of them start quests or give immediate stat boosts.

Blizzard

I sold mine. Meh, I prefer other upgrades. I can manage Stamina and Magicka well and I have a health ring that is almost as powerful so I just sold the amulet. ._.

I'm playing the game less caring about numbers and more about getting immersed in the world. My character is a berserker enraged "charge in and murder everything" Nord. To that end, high power and high durability to charge in and DESTROY EVERYTHING WHILE SHRUGGING OFF ALL DAMAGE.

In addition, magical stuff? BOO FORGET THAT. I would rather CHARGE IN AND SLAY WITH MY WAR AXES, FOR WAR AXES ARE A TRUE NORD'S WEAPONRY.

EDIT: So I get any +HP's I can. I enchant any armor I can with +hp. I don't use magic at all, pretty much. so the Gauldur's +30 Stamina and HP is great. The magicka is okay.

I kill trolls by having a nicely outfitted companion and summoning a flame antronarch over and over. I've got the magica for it. When you're higher levels, being a mage makes you so badA**, lol.

I'm usually a Destruction and Restoration user so I'm more of a reckless Spellsword. I don't like bows because they are two-handed, but I'd like to have something long range so I basically use some magic for that and eventually shouts. I'm not a fan of the other magic schools, because they are kinda meh. Alteration is basically status effects and just takes longer to kill somebody while Conjuration takes away the fun in playing the game since your summons kill off everybody. I even avoid comrades. I actually used only little Restoration in Skyrim so far as opposed to Oblivion and Morrowind.
I like to kill stuff as fast as possible and deal as much damage as possible. I don't mind taking damage or a risk of dying. I actually die pretty often in the game for being so reckless. After all, since I have a weapon in one hand and the other is used for magic, I have no shield.

EDIT: It actually shows that on my enchantments. I have 3 enchantments to increase my one-handed skill and if you could add that enchantment on a helm, I'd totally do it. xD I got an Ebony Helmet today and I had to settle with +49 to Magicka instead. xD

The enchantment on my mace is actually quite tricky... it does fire damage, sets the target on fire, AND does additional damage on targets that are on fire :3
I don't think I need a new one all that soon lol

Blizzard

You get a really cool mace from the "House of Horrors" quest in Markarth. xD It does stamina damage, magicka damage (I think) and casts a Soul Trap for 3 second.

ok Sub, I need to know where you got that enchantment because I WANT IT.

I think I got it from an axe called "axe of whiterun" or something... which I got when I accidently clubbed a chicken and got a group of people to follow me and try to kill me... then ran into a frost troll who killed them all, and I looted their inventories like a boss. Then enchanted a regular mace with it and a grand soul gem.

Ryex

I'm skeptical of this story only because it started with clubbing a chicken being a killing offence.

you can also get an Axe of Whiterun by becoming a Thane of Whiterun. It's not too difficult to do that, you can actually get one twice. It has a chance of being either a War Axe or a Battleaxe and the enchantment on it varies. There's a similar gig going for the rest of the major cities. You can become thane of Solitude, Riften, I think Dawnstar, Whiterun, and maybe one place more. Basically anywhere you can buy a house, and actually more places. Hrrm. Anyway when you become Thane of a town, they give you a weapon as a badge of your office.  I don't think you can get it off killing anyone.

And if you kill a chicken, it's a 40 gold fine. Guards' immediate reaction to anything is to attakc, unless you have your weapon sheathed.

I did though :P Well, the frost troll killed them, but yeah.

I've had some tough luck today. I just started the subquest of the main quest where you have to go into the Thalmor Embassy. I just gave my best weapons to the guy and when I left the town to meet up Delphine, a dragon appeared. And I'm without my best weapons and armor! On top it was an Elder Dragon! ;_; I died and after I noticed that the dragon didn't reappear after I loaded the game, I went ahead and gave Delphine my equipment (the most useful thing being potions) to continue the quest. Due to a glitch the dragon appeared again just when I was supposed get going so I ended up fighting it with nothing else on me than a few pieces of cloth. ;_; Again, I died. Sadly I had quicksaved just in the moment where it was too late and I had to keep fighting the dragon like this. I went ahead and save a few more times, but it didn't really work out as at one point I accidentally hit a guard with a fireball so the other guards were after me and I had no chance to fight the dragon and keep the guards off my back at the same time as they were not allowed to make me pay the fine if I wanted to finish off the dragon. I ended up loading an earlier save game, but the dragon never appeared again. ;_;

The most annoying dragon glitch is when they don't become aggressive. If they're in a spot where it's not a "dragon spot" (marked with a dragon head on the map) they will sometimes fly around above you, roaring. But not attacking, and unless you hit them, won't initiate battle. MEaning 80% of the time that you can't do shit to them, in my case. Fucking melee. >:/ I don't have Dragonrend yet.

Blizzard

Level 59, 91 hours of play, 44 dragons slain, 45 words of power, 20 shouts. I've had enough of this game.

I used to play Skyrim. Then I took an arrow to the knee.

Well, funny thing about this game:
It is a killable offense. :P
