Deciding which tileset to use.

As I started to map down new areas I found some really good tilesets for making a city, and decided to map a proper entrance,
but I really liked both tilesets and out of curiosity I did the same map using both the tilesets and now I can't decided on which one
to use for that specific city,

assuming I'm only gonna use one of them, which one should I keep? I'm thinking of using the other tileset for another late-game area
later, but the winning one would be used for the first or second city the player visits.

your thoughts on this people?

The city on the left has a darker atmosphere to it, while the one on the right feels a little bit brighter and happier. I would choose whichever one better fits the mood that you'd like to have in the city as that part of the story.

I'm more inclined towards using the right one tbh, but the left one still has an industrial feel towards it,

I'd maybe use it for slums or other lower sections of a city (seeing as there's a pub somewhere in the tileset)
I dunno, or maybe it would feel rather out of place.

I definitely wouldn't use both at the same time, as in make them into one city, but if there were multiple cities it would work fine. They just look so different style-wise that it would be a very rough transition for a player. I guess maybe if you made a map that starts looking a little slum-like it would make the jump to the first style seem more natural, but otherwise I don't think they'd be good together.

As for which is better, I'd say the right is more artistically defined, everything really compliments each other, while the left seems to clash with the xp flowers and feels a little empty. The left does have a really nice dark atmosphere though, so I'm with rose on this haha.

This gives me an idea.... maybe if I separated the city into significantly long districts each geographically separated from each other
+ blocked the entrance to some until later on, it WOULD be possible to use both the tilesets without suffering from a hard change,
either that or I could gradually turn it more and more slum-like. you know like a city with a dark secret.
