Hey everyone! This whole month, it's been driving me crazy that steam won't let me have multiple instances of RMXP open. I'm using the Steam version, because I lost my old key and it's a pain to download the installer and find a keygen every time I want to install RMXP on another computer :P

Does anyone know a trick by which I can get the steam version to allow multiple instances of RMXP to run? It's a huge pain when copying anything between projects. You have to copy ONE thing, open the other project, paste it, save it, reopen the first, rinse repeat. It's a HUGE pain x.x

So any advice you can give to help me get around this would be great :P

You simply cannot.

Here, take this .reg file, for registering this version of RMXP.

Also, any Enterbrain employees or people from RPG Maker Web looking: deal with it.
He paid for the software, after all.

You should also take this .ico file.
I prefer to have my cracked RMXP using a different color when using both versions.
But that's just me, do what you want.

I actually just have an old version of xp (1.02) and it's all in it's own little folder on my desktop. I think it gets the license from the steam one, but it opens without steam. So I just linked that to the taskbar and have been opening it that way.

It really shouldn't.
I think you're using the portable version.

legacyblade

Can I have a link to this portable version o.o it'd be great to just have an "RPG Maker" thumb drive.

I have no idea where it is.
Even then, better to use 1.04 than an old version.

The only difference between all these versions is the licensing. No engine fixes, no editor changes. Doesn't matter which version you use, you're going to get the same performance. Other than the fact that the latest version has issues with the conversion to the Ace engine.

Oh well. I guess I just had a placebo effect going.

legacyblade

Is there any difference between the RGSS dll files?

G_G

Nope. Other than maybe some registry things perhaps, but I don't believe so no.

Again, they just did it so they could change licensing software. I myself actually switched back to 1.02 because that was the easier one to crack, and since I've purchased the software a couple times throughout it's life, I could really care less what they say. I hate not being able to work with more than one project at once.

legacyblade

Aye. I'm gonna be doing the same thing lol. It's just ridiculous to only be allowed one instance of an editing software -.- They REALLY didn't put much effort into their steam port. Double clicking a project file will just open the editor. You have to drag it into the editor for it to actually open the project.

Let's just keep our fingers crossed for a XPAce XD Even though it's NEVER going to happen :<

The only issue from downgrading, is you have to edit your Game.rxproj file and change it to 1.02 or 1.04 (whichever version you plan on using) or else the editor won't open it.

legacyblade

I could just make a new project with whatever editor I use. Then I can just copy that Game.rxproj into my game folder.
