L3X returns to the camp. But he didn't expect to encounter what he encountered...

Léna was flying on her hover board when there was a sudden gust and she lost her balance.

Waaaaaah!!!  Oof!

She hit the ground somewhat... gracefully, if that is possible, and landed with a thud.  She got up and dusted herself off.

Okay good thing I didn't get any scratches or that might have been bad.  Now... where's my board...

Léna spotted that her board landed in a nearby shrub and went over to retrieve it.  As she got up, she noticed another being.

Pokol jumped off a building.

Oh yeah!  Things just got a lot more interesting around here!

The Scord pursuing him were going to have a heck of a time following him off that leap, although he was pretty sure they'd hurl themselves after him anyways.

Oh, snap!  I'm almost to the ground!  Better Levitate!

Suddenly glowing with psychic energy, his descent abruptly stopped, and he glided slowly to the ground.  The energy surrounding him dispersed into the atmosphere.

Hey!  Why are you staring at me?  Haven't you ever seen a psychokinitic fall out of the sky before?

[Diokatsu]

*Thump* I saw a being land far off, his curiosity perked and he warped near the location. He quickly hid behind a building, feet not making a sound...I snuck quietly when I noticed a small woman next to me.....

WOAH?! Who are you?

The girl stared back, eyes gazing off a bit, glazing over uninterested. I then drew my sythe as I felt the ground shake as another being landed....

Buthos, Pokol, and Lena all somehow managed to arrive at the same place, at the same time.

odd, and peculiar, but let's leave them for a moment.

L3X was back at the camp, and what he saw there, was that the whole place was in a bustle, and several people were evidently pissed off, a few others off to the side, over broken weapons, crying.

Kyle appeared next to L3X as the android took in the sights.

you've returned, what was the explosion about, anyway? uhh, yeah, Kya got some... training in, while you were gone.

it wouldn't be very difficult to make the mistake that an army poured through, overpowered everyone, and broke their weapons.

now, back to the three people.

it was very... sparse, there. a few buildings were around, including a single skyscraper, but most of the place had a covering of sand, as if nobody had lived there in a long time, and the surrounding desert overtook everything.

deserts overtook most of the world nowadays, it would seem.

how would the three react to the presence of two strangers?

Im not sure either, but I think there is a broken hologram program running somewhere. In any case... I will be on my way.

L3X goes to his hoverbike and sits down... He turns the hoverbike on and prepares to leave the camp.

Hm...

L3X moved to leave the camp, when Ray appeared.

Lex! I have a problem I think you can help me with. come, please.

and we shall wait for the other three before continuing on them.

L3X nods and follows Ray. Ray takes L3X back into the deep desert. Both of them are on their hoverbikes. The high noon sun is burning down on their heads and each has his own way of cooling down. While Ray is covered in bright clothes underneath which he is wearing a special cooling suit that prevents major loss of water, L3X is enjoying the his new upgraded and repaired cooling system. Soon they reach their destination and Ray calls L3X to come over.

Weird... This feels... good... I almost enjoy burning here in the sun and letting my systems cool me down...

What are we looking for, Ray?

and suddenly, L3X felt frozen, and automatically his cooling systems shut off, and his heating systems turned on.

this is our problem. a Cold Spot. its about five degrees below zero farenheit. in a desert. during the day.

What the hell?! How is that possible?! And maybe more importantly why is it here?

dunno. so far as we know, it shouldnt be possible. i thought maybe you could use some kind of atmospheric gathering and scanning or something. i thought maybe you'd have an idea, cuz we have no idea.

L3X activates his scanners...

Now that I am scanning the area it's obivous... There is a kind of warp portal present. It seems to be leading to a quite cold area so it's pretty cold when you get close. We should prepare for temperatures under 250°K if we are planning to go through. I have the feeling that this is the Scord's doing...

after L3X informed Ray of what his scan said, he muttered something about it being what he thought and too dangerous, and motioned for L3X to follow.

they went back to the camp, and there Kyle was waiting.

Ray, what did the analysis say?

without responding, Ray ran off for the research center.

he was a kid, but if current evidence showed, he'd be as brilliant a scientist as his father.

alright then. Lex, come with me, I've got a surprise for you.

leading L3X into a large tent, Kyle began shouting orders, and suddenly L3X was looking at a car.

This is a Flying Car. I know you have a hoverbike, or something, board, i forgot, but this thing is fully loaded with missiles, and machine guns, and it flies in the air, not just hovering, but flight. it has other weapons, but it's not a tank. we don't have any idea how to get something battle-equipped into the air that isn't meant solely for air battle. bt its fine, and uhh... its untested.

Kyle moved to the other side of the car, and put his hands on the hood, voice raised to the point of pride, but not further.

Lex, we were hoping you'd test this for us. the camp is about to move, and we were hoping you'd use it. also, we have some reports. you can choose whether or not to take the car for it's alpha testing after hearing them. well, the basics. we oly have basics. basics is that, as in the desert here, we've heard reports from our European factions that Europe has a cold spot. a large one. a cold spot covering a good quarter of what used to be some country or another in Europe. we want you to check it out.

So it's not a Hover Glider but you got me an Air Drifter with battle equipment? I don't know where it is coming from, but I have a incredible urge to say the word "awesome" as loud as I can. Though, I am aware that a high powered sound emmision like that could well destroy your hearing organs so I am not doing it.

Anyway, I guess I have to learn air driving properly to maintain the Air Drifter in a good state especially in air driven battles. This first test that you request from me would be an appropriate first lesson. I can test it detailed following a testing protocol for mechanical units. Also, I am most suited for the testing as I can survive a crash without major problems upon ciritcal failure of the systems. Upload the basic test reports you mentioned to the Drifter's main memory unit. They could be useful for me. While you do that, I have to finish something else. I will be back in several minutes. After that I can investigate the Cold Spot phenomen. I am curious what the Scord are planning this time...

L3X leaves the tent and is trying to locate Kya.

L3X locates Kya in the base. Oddly without first comparing her location to the map records he has of the base, he heads straight toward her location. Soon he reaches a building and not even taking a look where he is, he enters the building only to find himself covered in something like steam. It's not much steam, but enough to be noticed. Hearing a rushing sound of what seems to be water, and in this case most probably hot water, he is heading towards Kya's location. Only one door separates him and Kya now. L3X can't see her, but he can hear her. You guessed it, Kya is under the shower after beating up a good deal of resistance soldiers.

Kya. I need to ask you a few questions.

And I need to turn on my static filters... This noise the water produces is incredibly irritating.

as L3X left the room, Kyle began ordering around, and when he found Kya, and asked his question, a spear came flying out of the stall, and he dodged it, and Kya screamed something and then ordered L3X to get out.

doing so, he waited outside, and soon after, Kya walked out, fully clothes, arms and legs covered again.

with a vicious glare, she asked:

Léna watched the two strangers and prepared to introduce herself.

Hiya you two.  I'm Léna.  Soooo what brings you to these parts of this... place?

L3X grabs Kya's arm and speaks in a rather angry tone.

We don't have privacy here, come with me.

L3X drags Kya against her own will (really?) into a quiet corner at the other side of the base. Nobody actually notices them.

I assume that she doesn't really mind since she doesn't seem to be really trying to get away.

My first question, what does this here mean?!

L3X shows Kya a part of the hologram that he recorded in the facility where BioE once rested. It was the part where their leading scientist and Ray's father mentioned Kya and his concern.

Your DNS pattern doesn't 100% match a human pattern. First I thought it was some minor mutation, but upon deep analysis of the data I cam to the conclusion that: a) there is no such thing as "minor" mutation. b) this pattern cannot be generated by mutated tissue. I have come across similar DNA differences recently when meeting the "blobs" and they were not really friendly to me. I want you to tell me here and now who you are, why you are fighting the Scord, who BioElf is and what is going on here!

L3X activates readies plasma gun and activates HP mode. He immediately points his weapon at Kya's head. Kya doesn't react at all for the time being. She's too shocked about L3X's behavior, she didn't expect it.

If you are the enemy, I will blast your head off through this wall without wasting a microsecond. WHO ARE YOU?!

What Léna didn't know was that those two strangers had to seriously big guns. They were, in fact, Scord Assault Troopers and the immediately begin shooting at Léna. What will she do? Fight them or run away for now? (BTW... Pokol, Dio, feel free to jump in and save her ass.)

after recovering from the shock of L3X's behavior, Kya shook her head, and, sighing, lifted one sleeve, revealing the arm underneath.

what he saw was beyond what L3X expected.

the entire arm was red, shifting, almost liquidic, and it changed first into a blade, then into an ordinary human arm and hand.

you want to know about what Farian said? as you know, he was a scientist, working for the Scord. him and Kyle went way back, and I was someone who randomly stumbled upon their building, and the Scord decided to test stuff out on me. this arm, and my other hand, and one of my legs, were changed. my arm morphs into different things. weapons or a hand, only, no screwdrivers or something useful. my hand... well, you don't wanna know. and my legs were changed to be stronger, as my whole body was, but one leg was modified to be able to grow blades and spikes out of it, somehow, and some other things, but I... don't use them. ever, i try not to. the main difference is that my entire figure was changed minutely, and my physical strength and endurance was nearly tripled. Kyle planned to destroy Farian's lab, and Farian caught him, and they decided together to use the biotechnology against the Scord, Kyle and I left.

Kya's eyes then hardened, and before L3X could realize what was happening, Kya had knocked him off balance somehow. before he could react, Kya had done something to shutdown his systems.

I understand your wanting information, but if you ever ambush me again, i'll do more than shut you off.

somehow he managed to register that before turning off completely, but he wouldn't be able to process it till he awoke again.

I merely grabbed your arm, dragged you away and put a gun in your face. Don't underestimate me, Kya. I haven't reacted to your last action because from your story I knew that you are not the enemy and I don't have to fear you. Err... Wait, what?! Where did she go?!

L3X doesn't seem to have noticed the shutdown.

Somehow I feel "disappointed" that she didn't hear what I said... Anyway, I should go back and see if my Air Drifter is ready.

L3X returns to the big tent where his new Air Drifter is located.
