It is fact that Nostradamus original predictions were altered in order to fit the actual events that happened. Nostradamus predicted nothing konkrete, it was all vague. http://www.weird-websites.com/justweird/endofworld.htm Nostradamus said year 3797.

I can predict stuff, too. I predict a collapse of economy in the next few years.

Concrete is spelled with Cs, not Ks.

Oh. The apocalypse is coming. I dunno when. But it has to end eventually, everything in the universe points to it.

Blizzard

I was sure that I saw it written with Ks because it was not concrete, the building material. I just looked it up, you're right.

Anyway, I predict one entity that will surpass any human in knowledge. Oh wait, we already have Google.

I think that the apocalypse will take a while. As I said, people are predicting an apocalyse every few years. The most recent one was the LHC. Next is probably 2012.

Lol, where do you think the term comes from? Concrete = sturdy, strong, permanent; therefore, we use it as an adjective to describe things that are permanent and resilient. Silly Blizzard! :V

Nothing will happen. Just like some crazy people thought the world would end in the year 2000, nothing happened. So nothing will happen this time.

I'm pretty sure Isaac newton predicted the world end in 2060. Still isn't very believable, is it?

I completely believe that all these prophecies and and predictions are all bull. I don't believe something like y2k(where you now, suckas?) or nostadamus 2012.

One of the reasons is that I completely believe that the modern calendar isn't correct. I mean, it's a working calendar enough for people to get by on, but it's not 100% correct for something like the apocalypse.

How? Well, there's an extra day every four years, right? So, each and every day is just a little bit more than that 24 hours. And that extra day accumulates over the years. in 2000 years, 500 are that extra day, so that's an extra year and 1/3 total for our actual current date... and of course, add that to the fact that I feel like the common era came out of nowhere, I don't believe anything that deals with concrete dates can actually be the apocalypse.

PS: can anyone post up the actual prediction or whatever that nostradamus made that actually translate into tall that 2012 stuff?

Hence leap years.

I don't know what to believe about the apocalypse. However, I believe that forming an opinion on it is a waste of time, effort, sanity, and stress. Even if we knew the day everyone will die, what should change? We should all be living like each day is our last, anyway. Not to say that you should go out and vandalize everything, and steal things... but you know what I mean. The apocalypse will come when it comes.

Metaron

Technically it shouldn't matter when the apocalypse should be for any of us, all of us posting this now will be dead in about 80 years above, that's the end of the world for us all individually. Most of the pedicted events for an apocalypse, exlcuding the bull about 2012 will be long after were dead.   :O.o:

The average male life span is just above 70, and the female is ~76-77, last time I checked. We all have 50-60 years.

Arkaea Halfdemon

That's not the average for our generation, though. For all we know, our generation could last 100 years apiece, what with how the medical system is advancing. The health care system may be an evil company whose sole intention is to gather more wealth, but there's enough decent people in it that don't realize that for the system to advance.

Is this thread still active, more or less? I sure hope so.

Regardless, I'm reviving it for the sake of new information (or rather, not really new information) about one close apocalypse's...erm, validity.

OMGAR RAPTURE TOMORROW! EVERYONE HIDE! :V

I doubt anything will happen, but its interesting to read up on this stuff.

EDIT: In case anyone doesn't know, this sums it all up basically.
The rapture will occur on May 21, 2011 with approximately 3% of the world's population being called to heaven.[13]
Earthquakes will begin on May 21 on Kiritimati Island (Christmas Island), Kiribati at 6 p.m. LINT (0400 UTC).[13]
Citing Jeremiah 25:32, earthquakes will continue "as the sun advances" with New York, United States to be affected at approximately 6 p.m. EDT (2200 UTC).[13]
The earthquakes will finally strike Samoa, American Samoa and Niue at 6 p.m. UTC-11 (0500 UTC).[13]
The end of the world will take place five months later on October 21, 2011.[4]

Just to let you know, not in a single place in the Bible is that timeline given in any way. There is a fairly accurate timeline that is written, and that is not even remotely close.

I know this. I just thought since everyones making a big deal about tomorrow, why not bring it up here? Almost everybody at school today. "OMGAR EVRY1 WILL D13 TMORW!" I've even had people crack the same lame ass joke to me.

"See ya next week Ronni--- Erm maybe not."

Quite annoying.

ForeverZer0

Yes, indeed.

I find it incredulous that so many actually believe it, and do not realize the giant contradiction of believing it. Here's my reasoning:

1. You believe in the Rapture, therefore you believe in God, and the Bible
2. The Bible CLEARLY states the exact events that will unfold before the Rapture occurs, which have not happen yet. This should be a clue.
3. The Bible even more clearly states that NO ONE can prophesize the hour of it happening:

Quote from: Bible NIV Matthew 24:36"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

That verse is not really open for much interpretation as so many others are. It never loses its meaning, even among other translations of the bible.
http://bible.cc/matthew/24-36.htm

So if you belief in God, fear not about tomorrow.

If someone were to guess the exact year, month, day, and hour, would God have to reschedule? :naughty:

And let's say the rapture did happen for some reason, I am raping the girl next door... so fucking fiercely. :V:

But really, the rapture is not happening, and never will. There is no God to call for it.

first it was the year 2000 millennium, then it was June 6th 2006, now this. If anyone truly believes in this, then I guess you wont have any problem giving me the lease to your house, car, and everything in your bank account.

Haven't you realized it yet? Apocalypse is an event that happens once every few years.

I dunno 'bout you all, but I'm in heaven and it's pretty damn sweet.

God's all 'sup broslice, watcha doin'?'

an' I'm all 'just chattin' to my mortal people who will be dying in a few months'

'rly?'

'no, not rly, I'm just a wannabejokester'

It was amusing at first, but all the 'I dunno 'bout yo uguys but I'm in heaven, and *inserts story about famous dead people / Jesus / God*' got boring quick.

When is the Apocalypse going to happen? Will it happen in our lifetime? Maybe, maybe not. In science we're watching this Super Eruption movie about what would happen if Yellowstone National Park would erupt. When will it erupt? Will it erupt in our lifetime?

Will it happen in 2012? I'm frankly to be honest scared. If yellowstone does erupt imagine feeling that pain while we slowly die. All that ash in our lungs slowly turning to a liquid cement. I'd rather be up there and die instantly.

I think the Apocalypse will happen after our life. But who knows. Whats your thoughts about the Apocalypse? If yellowstone does erupt it could last for weeks or even be an endless Super Eruption. The beginning of the movie it said
"This is a true story, it just hasn't happened yet."

My question is when will it happen? In our lifetime? And if not will there be anything else that kills us all?

Post your thoughts.

With much respect, I fear pain more than I fear death... dying is the least of my worries, but dying painfully scares the snot right out of me.

Although, I will admit one thing... if the world did come to an end, it better be by a zombie apocalypse or something; that way at least it is amusing to a point.

(And by zombies, I mean the ones that are REALLY SLOW and REALLY STUPID)

But other than that, I get where you're coming from; it is a bit creepy, but sooner or later... we all die anyways, I just hope that we die peacefully.
