It stopped spreading because:
It has 10 Million already infected. It doesn't need any more.

Well, it depends on what the virus is attempting to DO. If it's attempting to enforce Earth Hour, then it's probably hit enough computers to do the job pretty well. If it's trying to rule the world, then it needs more souls computers.

I've heard it also disables your access to Anti-Malware sites. So if you can, say, download Spybot, then you probably don't have it.

I know I don't have it since I just had to reinstall Vista... FOR THE SAME REASON AS LAST TIME! M$, please TELL me that a file I just compressed has to be uncompressed for the computer to start. And if it doesn't, then make the utility on the install disk that's only DESIGNED to clear up problems with the system's startup actually CHECK THAT and maybe, just maybe, even FIX IT! L:KATHPB)&P @%468#*61( )&-07q+p 64!!!!!!

Sorry... I'm a bit pissed off about that still... xD
Stuff I've made:

"Never think you're perfect or else you'll stop improving yourself."

"Some people say the glass is half full... some half empty... I just wanna know who's been drinking my beer."

Check the first link on my link. Explains.

And I don't think that it's point matters: 10 million computers can DoS the world. That's enough power to force world super powers to bow to your will.

The only reason that your computer would crash would be if a) You were infected and b) The controllers hit the kill switch.

Right now, Conficker-E is pretty much just a botnet, though noone can tell for sure what it's doing, since they've yet to crack the current obfuscation technique.

guys its pretty easy to get off your computer. my moms laptop got it, all i did was get on the library computers and email anti-virus software since the worm corrupts all ur auto updates and virus-protections.

oh and i have a wild guess on who made this. Bill Gates! He's tired of his money so hes giving it away, Maybe this is a conspiricy by Microsoft to get rid of his money  8)

Your mom's laptop should've been up-to-date with patches; go fix it, lazyface >=V :V

But seriously, all the vulnerabilities that Conficker targets are patched - Win7 or updated XP/Vista don't have any issues.

Here's a solution. Download a linux distro then you can emulate windows or OSX. But there's even better news! You won't have to emulate OSX since it's just UNIX!!!! HOLY FUCK

1) Use OS X before you judge it again. For your information, the UNIX standards stop at the command line/low-level infrastructure. While they are extremely similar, and I love both, Linux is most definitely not Mac. They're totally different, and they both have their ups and downs.

2) Cocoa, the OS X API, has neither emulation nor an open-source equivalent; to run Mac apps, you have to have a Mac (though, since almost all the underpinnings are open-source, you can do most of what the apps could do without the apps anyway).

3) WINE pwns :P
