I didn't like FFX at all. The characters were shallow (absolutely no depth) and generic and the story was a ripoff from FF6 and FF7.
I don't know about that. I thought FFX's story was quite a departure from the previous four games. There's no real "villain" to speak of (Seymour is more of an obstacle than anything else), it was the first FF to really tackle religion, and the goal and general pacing were nothing like those of VI or VII.
Final Fantasy V is one of my favourites. The storyline is a nice mix of comedy and drama (personified by its comically evil villain) and in terms of gameplay I still maintain that it's the most fun game to play through in the series.
There aren't really any that I
don't like, truth be told. As revolutionary as it was, Final Fantasy II's growth system was horribly flawed, but the game is a lot more playable on the GBA and PSP. I've also never really been much of an FFIV fan. I like the characters, but you don't even get to use all of them at the end of the game (fixed for FFIVA, removed from FFIVDS...), and there's no real growth or ability system to speak of. Characters are very one-dimensional in battle, and while the storyline's alright, I still think it's poorly presented by today's standards.
