You're not even willing to accept it as good, so I'm not gonna try. You're a closed book on the subject, so it's pointless to try to help you see that it had its good points. Maybe particular aspects of the game don't pass by YOUR standards, but it gained its fame and glory because it IS an amazing game ...

Popularity proves it, and none of your fancy words or carefully thought out explanations can change that. (no matter how hard you try).

Because popular things are always good. *cough*Nazi Regime*cough*

Popularity proves nothing except a large portion of people thought it was sooooooooooo good. What's wrong with me thinking it's not good? How is it possible to make me change my mind on such a trivial issue? You critisize me despite my solid defence of my point only by saying two things: "You're wrong because it's a great game" and "other people like it so you're wrong". I find both those quite obnoxious. I'll sum my opinion, yes opinion, up for you: I thought it was a playable game with no real strong points compared to the other earlier Final Fantasies and it's my opinion that it is complete overrated and doesn't deserve it's rep.

Sorry that I don't agree with the masses. I didn't think that popularity was the final judge for everything. Despite what democracy brings us up to believe, the majority isn't always right and it's important to take what ever opinion you truly have, lest you fall into blindly following a cause. Sorry I can't see what everyone else saw, but I love the way you grazed by my counterarguements and called me a closed book. Nice arrogance. And I'm the younger one.

Again with your carefully thought out explanation that means absolutely nothing. I didn't criticize you one time. Go ahead and think that if it will help you sleep at night. I never said you had to agree with my points. You are flaring back and trying to prove that it's a bad game. Not to me, but by stating the reasons you don't with all your fancy ordering of words. You give only reasons why it was bad, which forces me to respond with why it was good.

The mass popularity proves that it is a good game. NOT BY YOUR STANDARDS SO WHAT!? You say I speak obnoxiously when you're an obnoxious person ... as proved not only by your posts here on Chaos Project, but by our one on one conversation where you blatantly stated that you act meanly for no reason. So who cares what either of our opinions are, if the game wasn't good ... it wouldn't have sold.

popularity doesn't prove crap. I believe everyone on this forum has stated that something can be terrible and still somehow be popular. Anyway, I'm not sayin FFVII is bad; I've never played it myself. but I do find it always ridiculous to point out popularity as a point. from either side. as I said, popularity doesn't prove crap. it doesn't prove that something is good, but it doesn't prove that it's bad, either. I'm actually seeing evidence of people int he media putting more effort into Some stuff.

Reiterating. I'm not taking sides.

Calintz

Oh gosh, Lol ...
*throws hands up in air*

DONE!!
My favorite FF is FFX.

@UltaFlame:
*LVL up!!* You just made my day, and I don't know why LMAO

Diokatsu

You gave reasons why it was good in response to me saying I didn't like it first off. Seond, I never attack you I attacked the game and then you flared back and called me wrong, when I never said I was right. And Third, I'm not using fancy order of words, I'm just trying to lay out my ideas so that they actually make sense.

Also, I didn't call you obnoxious, I called your arguements obnoxious. For one, it doesn't make any difference to me how much it sold, I still don't think it's good. That's quite obnoxious considering it doesn't make a game good by selling. If I don't think the game is good in the first place, why would I be impressed by the number of sales it has?

Again with your carefully thought out explanation that means absolutely nothing.

What? How else can you hope to convince someone?

Donw. My favorite is FFIV.

Vell

I've only ever played the GBA remake of FFIV, so that's my favorite :D

Dont read it if u did't played FFX: ShowHide
I mean man, did u expected to Tidus vanish??? Dud, even Auron?!? No happy kiss & End with princess like in all other story? I call that a (good) story.

of course, this is narrowly my opinion   :shifty:

Spoiler: ShowHide
If you unlocked the secret ending in FFX-2 then, yeah there was a kiss & end, happy bla bla part where Tidus comes back.
Part 1
Part 2 - This was badly recorded but it's okay, only one I could find
I unlocked them, I just can't remember how I got the second one :P

i talking 'bout FFX, didt play X2 and i dont know will i (too girlish :P)

Dio ... O.o you're weird, Lol ... you hate everything!!  :V:
VII was the greatest in the series most likely, because it zoned in and perfectly portrayed characters in a deep way(blizz'd favorite kind :naughty:)

I think people enjoyed it so much, because it was the first time a great RPG was released with characters that gamers could relate themselves to in one way or another.

Early FF games ... Hey, I'm a nobody who enters into a great journey of some sort and I kill shit!

The story was amazingly immense. You can't top a game where EVERY character has depth. It creates these points in the game where it all will converge leading to climaxes of epic proportion. FVII was the first to show this, and that is why it is so great, and many remember the game and relive the story.

I'm just shocked that you could play it and not like it actually.

You're trying to call the story messy, and you're implying that it's cliche!?

I can't follow you on these claims ...
The game is called Final Fantasy "SEVEN," so it obvious that there are going to be situations that may seem cliche, but in reality ... it falls on the game's developers to keep it from becoming cliche. I mean sure, it isn't like FFVII was the first game to introduce the memory loss situation, but it DID deliver it in the best ways that a game actually can.

By involving the memory loss tactic (which is why you think the story is messy when in fact, you just couldn't follow it very well) it allows the player to take control and make predictions while the game's plot falls delicately into place. This was, and still is a valid route to take during the planning stages of game creation. (Not the memory loss in general, but the opportunity to let the game piece itself together) When choosing this method, you allow room for constant suspense, which has the opportunity to explode into a climax far greater than that of any book you may read ... (explanation as to why you may get that "ambiguous" feeling you so often refer to)

I don't play games to relate, but I have many friends who enjoy placing themselves into the hero's shoes and wondering what they would do, or how some of their characteristics match, but that doesn't mean they need new hobbies (It's just you being an ass again).

The graphics were fine dude ...
They do have to start somewhere, and in my opinion, the battle graphics outclass chrono crusade's graphics by far.

Edit:
I have also played Chrono Crusade, but I never finished it. I became bored with it.

Right there are two pieces of proof that I didn't open saying that you didn't like it. I said simply that it surprised me that you didn't like. I did not use that as a reason as to why it was either good or bad.

Final Fantasy has always been my favourite as i have played all the FF games and its just the one i liked best

Even tho FF7 is my favourite is doesnt have my favourite villian in my favourite villain is Vayne solidor from FFXII

I just thought he looked cool.

FFX was not really one of the best they done but its was a good one. it had a unique storyline.

In the other FF game the last main evil or boss was something fantasy when in FFX it was a really big monster(The monster background was fantasy but the monster wasnt too fantasy)

FF9 is AWESOME! has to be my second favourite FF8 i really dontlike as much as the others

X-2 annoyed me I really didn't like that one it was just the storyline and how a secret ending brought tidus back. I reckon they should of left us hanging at the end of FFX

But now FF13 is on its way and should be out sometime september and they have already announced FF14 as an MMO for the PS3 and the PC so I am looking forward to those games
Centra Rise of Tiamut

In production.

Destiny's are created to be fulfilled, Just like proficies

Calintz

Lol Vayne!!
Yeah, when he transformed he was a BEAST!!

Ohhh, what kind of beast? :naughty:

What about the spin-off games, guys? How well do they fare in the opinions of RPG or Final Fantasy fans? Crystal Chronicles, My Life as a King, those games...What do you think of those? (I haven't played them, I'm just raising another discussion topic that I see is neglected)

About earlier argument: ShowHide
It's over. Don't speak about it again. Calintz and Diokatsu at least were wise enough to end it. Any future posts about it, I'll at least try to make sure it's deleted or something.

What's osu!? It's a rhythm game. Thought I should have a signature with a working rank. ;P It's now clickable!
Still Aqua's biggest fan (Or am I?).

Revenant Wings was crap IMO. X-2 had some nice gameplay (NG+ FTW!). I need to play Tactics sometime. *gets on that now*

True, true. Have you seen the hotsprings scene?

Tactics Advance 2 for the DS was fun. I haven't beaten it yet, but I deleted all my DS Emulating stuff, so I dun got it anymore to play. the Chocobo's Dungeon thing on the wii was fun. I had a blast with that, but it got boring quickly after I beat it. the story was not too special.
