Okay, today I had an arguement with someone.

They said

Punk music sucks! Screamo and metal is all just so god damn stupid!

I respond with (he said this do to the fact that I like metal and punk (o_0))

Just because you have an opinion that my taste in music is different from that of yours doesn't mean that it's bad. Like if..You goto a restaurant and you like Pierres stakes and you know when he makes them, you order a stake and then you get a hamburger. You complain then you want your stake from pierre, But he says 'Eat it! It's good food with the same qaulity' Just because you didn't get stake is no reason to freak out music is music and good music is good music (non-dependent on likes/dislikes).

Ooh, I have an opinion.

Music, of any sort, can be rated by quality in terms of its composition and how it is experienced.  You can generalize genres to have a particular quality of music, but that will not be an absolute standard.

Now, what you two fools were talking about is if the music is pleasing to you in particular.  This, of course, is entirely subjective, so everyone is right all the time no matter what they say.  No use arguing if nobody can be wrong.

Yeah and you could always start an opinions thread if you just want to find similar tastes. As long as everyone can make a small explanation such as:

"I really love metal because it's exciting and powerful. I love the instrumentals and the vocals are just amazing most of the time."

Then I'm sure the thread wouldn't spiral out of control. :p

I wouldn't say everyone is right though, but more like no one is wrong haha.

I like alternative, because, IMO, it's pretty much the only genre that has both decent music AND amazing lyrics.

I like rock, because, IMO, the music is the best short of classical. And it's FRIGGIN' ROCK.

I like classical, because, IMO, it's the best music. End of story.

but uhm, Rock or Hop ?
Rock is like electric and acoustic not electronic, as Hop is mostly bass and racial/sexual/abusive slurs.
As Techno and Trance are it's own.
