They're quite nice, but unless something is wrong with my computer, the brightness is really high. Or is this intentional?

It should look like this:

Your free to change the brightness if you want.

Good idea, but could use better implementation. All of the following applies if you're working in photoshop. I see you just beveled the "energy field", right? It looks like a coin or something and I can't get that idea out of my mind >.<

My suggestions:
1. Either increase the bevel size to quarter or more of the radius and smooth-en it a lot
2. Or get rid of bevel and work with outlines and/or glows
3. Or get rid of bevel and experiment with Satin (change Satin's default color of course). Use the glow too if you like. If it were me,I would've tried Satin, I like how it works.

EDIT: Oh, how could I forget? *levels up* :)
Do you like ambient/electronic music? Then you should promote a talented artist! Help out here. (I'm serious. Just listen to his work at least!)

Ah, of course. My apologies: my monitor is so bad that I didn't even see the blue field surrounding the sprite. This could indeed have some great uses in a magic-oriented storyline. On the other hand, it also reminds me of the bubbles from the underwater scene in Quintessence.
