Hello friends, I am new to the forum since most use the RMX-OS for some time, and wondered if anyone could adapt to the ABS Mr.Mo rmx them because I use very large maps and the ABS cause much Bliz lag, and Mr.mo ABS is lighter.

Sorry for my English, I am Brazilian.  :haha:

First of all, let me say that I use blizz-abs for the mmo I am making with RMX-OS and I have no problems lag wise. If the problem is map size then you should split them into more, smaller maps. Anyway, it would take a pretty advanced scripter to make a plug-in that processed Mr. Mo's ABS for all players. Honestly, when I look at the plug-in for Blizz-ABS, I can't understand half of the things Blizzard did in that script. However, if you do want to do it, you would definitely need to make a new extension for the server to process it in addition to the client. Sorry, but that's about all I can help you with.

The problem is this.
I do not want to change the size of my maps, I leave them on the current size and with the ABS Mr.mo would have no problems with lag, because it's lighter.

Wizered67

Well, how big are your maps? And when you test Blizz-ABS and Mr Mo's ABS, do you have the Blizz-ABS controller for RMXOS in while testing Blizz-ABS? If so, it may be lagging more just because it is processing attacks for all players.

HugoFreitas

Usually the size of the maps are in 200x150.

I did not understand what you said after that, explain?

Wizered67

I was wondering if you were using the blizz abs controller plug-in when you tested Blizz-ABS.

I just thought that it could possibly be causing additional lag....

You can try the Continuous Maps script that Blizzard wrote to make your maps smaller, but maintain the look that they are larger. You can find out more about it here: http://forum.chaos-project.com/index.php/topic,5161.0.html
I am done scripting for RMXP. I will likely not offer support for even my own scripts anymore, but feel free to ask on the forum, there are plenty of other talented scripters that can help you.

I no longer keep up with posts in the forum very well. If you have a question or comment, about my work, or in general I welcome PM's. if you make a post in one of my threads and I don't reply with in a day or two feel free to PM me and point it out to me.<br /><br />DropBox, the best free file syncing service there is.<br />

This script does not solve my problem, besides being heavy Blizz ABS, contains many annoying bugs to resolve. I need someone to integrate Mr.Mo abs in them rmx-os.

ForeverZer0

Have you tried a forum that isn't where there are more people familiar with Mr. Moe's ABS. You will find that most members around here are BABS users.

Pretty much. Blizz-ABS for life!!!!!!!!!

HugoFreitas

I'll try, more to be the forum's official rmx-os them, I thought here would be easier.

Ryex

what bugs are you referring too? and when did you try BABS that it lagged on you? are you sure it was the latest version (2.8)?

about your request in general: aka don't get your hopes up: ShowHide
just so you know making the abs work with RMX-OS is a HUGE task you will NEVER get someone who doesn't have a significant investment in your game to do it for free and even then they would likely ask for compensation. the task is on par with, and while I personalty don't know the system I have enough experience to say the it would likely entail, writing the system from scratch.
really think about it first they have to write from scratch a system the can synchronize the movements and actions of monsters across all players on the map. then they have to redirect all the player input  to the server and have the server process all player actions make sure they don't conflict with each other and then send back data the tells the game what where and how to move the player's other player's and monsters. the only thing they would keep from the original system is the part that renders the sprites and animations on the screen and a a bit of the math used in the attacks and movement. that means they are rewriting 3/4ths of the system in a network environment (an inherently more complex task).

I don't mean to burst your bubble but the thought of getting someone to do that just for you and for free is crazy. true it doesn't hurt to ask as ther might be someone doing it and willing to release their work to the public. but, be realistic, don't get your hopes up that your request will be filled and if it doesn't get filled pleas don't get upset about it the chances of it happening are slim.

if you really want this request to be filled

  • go find a forum that has an active community that uses the abs you want
  • ask polity and give a fully detailed and nicely formatted request
  • be prepared to offer compensation, and hint in your request that such might be possible (don't say it our right or there won't even be a chance to get it for free, but a hint might make those would wouldn't do it other wise inquire further while those who wouldn't expect it won't be asking for it. something like "PM me for further details" should do the job)
  • in all likely hood you will have to give some form of compensation, don't be surprised if they ask for costs in the low hundreds but if the offer to do it for less than $100 I advise you to jump at the offer as you likely will not find a better deal
  • if some one offers a price and you think it is too high fist ask if they would be willing to negotiate before offering a lower price and if you do offer a lower price know what their service is worth.
I estimate the task would take about 15-20 hours of work (possibly more) at the bare minimum wage I would work for ($4 an hour) that's between $60 and $80 so if you are offering $35 your saying you would pay them  at most $2.33 and hour. people can get a job at micky d's for twice that.
in all likelihood if you offer something that low they will be offended.

Because the abs come mr.mo being used in all netplays you find.

The adaptation of it would be much easier than any other abs, and the information I have, you just need a re-write the main code, as this abstract is used for other online systems.

Blizzard

All online systems except RMX-OS are based on Netplay. It works with all of them because they are all the same system.
