Ports wont forward!

Im trying to forward port 54269 for my game, but I cant get it to work D; I've tried forwarding it both with my internal IP (192.168.0.5) and my external IP, but neither is working, I'm using CanYouSeeMe.org to check if the port is available, but it of course is not.

Here's the fields that my router has for forwarding ports.

  Starting Port: (I put 54269)
  Ending Port: (Again, 54269. I've also tried starting on 268 and ending on 270 but that didnt work either.)
  Protocol: (TCP)
  LAN IP Address: (I've tried both internal and external IP here)    


2. Set the remote port and IP information. (Optional)
  Starting Port:
  Ending Port:    
  Set Remote IP Address:    (0.0.0.0 will use any IP Address)

I leave those last three blank, with 0.0.0.0 in the remote IP for any.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong :/

LAN IP address should be your internal address. Aside from that, everything looks right, so I don't really know what to tell you.

I tried it with my internal as well as my external. I even tried it with 127.0.0.1 know damn well that wouldn't work. Eff, this is very annoying. Dx

perchance are you going through another network/router/modem than your forwarding?

most people have this sort of set up

internet > ISP > home modem > computer

this is also common

internet > ISP > home modem > router > computer

ports can be blocked at any stage between a computer and the internet a computers file wall can block them, a router can block them, a modem can block them, the ISP can even block them sometime (thats rather rare though)

if your not getting your internet strait from an ISP then the intermediaries may have blocked the port.

in any case double check each stage of that network chain. especially your firewall or securities software or any modem or router in your network.

I just checked the network map and its Internet > ISP > Modem > Computer

Im not sure what could be doing it, beause as I said I've tried multiple options in the configuration of my modem, and I've even tried testing with my firewall completely turned off to make sure it wasn't interfering either

So I added a UDP forward as well to see if that would make a difference, and I think I'm getting closer. Because now instead of just saying connection refused, it says connection timed out. (using http://www.canyouseeme.org/)

A week ago I was trying to forword my ports for a minecraft server.

It's a tutorial to forword ports for minecraft but could easily be used for any other i think.

have you tried having some one connect to the game or doing it your self using the out side ip of the server? instead of just using the "can you see me" thing. it might be working and you not know it. if you have the game connect using the outside ip of your computer (use a "whats my ip" to find the outside ip) you should be aboue to tell if other can connect as the computer will route the connection out side and back in to the server again.

Look up your modem manufacturer and modem model. Then google for them including the words "port forwarding". There will be tons of articles about how to forward a game port. Just follow the instructions as if RMX-OS was a game. Done.

I did that, thats how I figured out how to do it in the first place. I even tried that auto-port-forwarding program that was linked up above, nothings working. And my firewall was completely turned off and it still didnt work, so idk what it could be.

It's not canyouseeme because nothings working. Plus I cant use hamachi because my servers are running on linux, which they apparently don't support.

There is VPN software for Linux, but unless the players are running Linux or unless that VPN software is available for Windows, you shouldn't count on it.

You said that you are running Linux? Do you have Ruby installed for Linux or are you using WINE? If the latter, it's possible that WINE's network connections are messing with you.

I doubt it's WINE, as he's not testing it using RMX-OS or Ruby, but through canyouseeme, which doesn't depend on WINE at all.
