As most of you know, our current host has some weird problem with a 403 error when there are specific words or word patterns in posts, signatures, etc. basically whenever you try "send data to the forum in form of text". Hence we will be changing hosts within the next few days. That also means that at one point there will be a downtime. I'm just notifying you so you don't panic when it happens.

The downtime should be no longer than 24 hours, but it ultimately isn't in my hands. So if the forum is down for 2 or 3 days, don't worry, everything is fine.

Maybe it will be like in Pathfinder, where we try and make a spacetime jump, and end up creating 19 copies of ourself at our destination, as well as creating 19 copies of ourself at the starting point moving backward in time.

Hopefully the new host works out well and we won't have to move again for a while

Eh, looks like we're not going to move yet. I have found a host that looks very promising, but they charge annually and right now I'm not very liquid. ._.

EDIT: Wow! I've sent them an e-mail with a couple of "nasty" questions about a few things and I got a reply very quickly. I'd say the time they needed to reply was the time they needed to type down the mail. O_o I am impressed. This will definitely be our new host.

I am considering to move my website and domain to your hosting service and I have a few questions after gathering information about your hosting plans and reading your ToS.

1. In your ToS there is a section mentioning disk space for MySQL databases. Is there a disk space limit to the databases in general or does the 3 GB limit apply only in the resource scarcity cases mentioned in the ToS?

2. My site has a Java script that acts as an IRC client. There is no IRC server or IRC bot hosted on my site, only the Java client. Basically the site only provides the user with the Java script to connect to an external server. The IRC server is located on an external site. Is this acceptable with your ToS?

3. I already have a domain name which I have renewed about a month ago. If I register with your hosting service, should I move my domain name to your registrar or should I leave it with my old registrar until the next renewal?

4. Will there be problems when importing an MySQL database of about 100 MB (in SQL queries)? I have had problems with hosting services where I haven't been able to import databases of this size due to a size limit of 2 MB per query.

5. Does the FTP access switch often to passive mode? With my current hosting service I repeatedly have the problem that during an upload of a slightly bigger file (usually already starting at files of only 2 MB) the server would forcibly switch the connection to passive mode and the upload would break off often. Is this the same case with your service?

Here are the answers to your questions:

1. There is a space limit to the data you can store in a database.
2. There will be no problems with that.
3. This is up to you, but you should note that expired domain names cannot be transferred. We advise you to initiate the transfer at least 2-3 months prior to the domain expiration. You will not lose the time you have registered your domain name for.
4. There is no such a limit on our end. If you experience problems, you should contact us for assistance.
5. The FTP mode depends on your settings. The server does not force it.

EDIT: It looks like there will be no move today after all. I don't know what the fuck is going on, but after I successfully added my debit card to my PayPal account 2 weeks ago, now it keeps getting rejected for no reason.
