I'll admit I haven't had a look at XAS since I found blizz abs, but come on.. I can't imagine xas having a feature that blizz abs doesn't have anymore. My imagination is too limited! Perhaps xas makes it rain dead kittens..

I'm getting this error.

I started a fresh project to try this out, added BABS(latest copy from here), and dumped this below it, renamed the images as said...
No other script edits or nada.
And as soon as game starts that pops up.
@hp_number_text = @hp.abs.to_s.split(//)
is the line.

Hmm.. small question. When I set up for a boss the HP bar don't seem to fill all the way with the script calls, or even the first hit on the boss.

No hits on the 'boss' just calling via the script commands. Is this just the layout graphic holding the bars longer then the bar it's self, or is it a bug?


Edit: another small bug?
I notice that once you beat a boss, even if the normal smaller enemy hp switch is set to OFF. once the boss is beat the enemy bar shows up empty then fades, just as if you just beat a normal enemy..

Test map.
Enemy siwtch is OFF.
Boss switch set ON.

Boss just beaten, boss HP bar vanishes, but the enemy one in the corner pops up at 0 hp then fades.
Nothing is in the boss that says to turn the enemy siwtch on, just to turn boss switch OFF so it goes away once the boss is dead.
Hitting normal enemies before and after poking the boss does not show the enemy bar at all cause it's set to OFF in this test. Only when the boss is beaten does it pop up with these settings.

Yes.

also found a smaller issue that I posted in the edit of my last post.
Also hitting the boss just once, the hp drains from the same area for the first hit, rather then the end of the layout image. That's true even with out the script call to show it ahead of time.

Not really eventing. Just have a switch that turns on the switch to show the boss, then another in the boss to execute when dead that turns it off.

The enemy framing popping up rather the normal enemy switch is on or off it still shows it once the boss is dead.

I don't think you grasp the issue I'm having with the enemy bars.

Regardless if I set enemy switch to OFF or not. Once the boss is killed and it's switch is turned off to remove the boss bar, the enemy bar pops up at 0 hp in the corner then fades away.

I can have the enemy switch off by default so no enemy shows it. Go after a boss, kill it, turn off boss bar, and the enemy bar pops up then fades away.

It does this is the demo I sent. Even the first screen shot I showed, had the enemy bars switch OFF for the whole thing. but it still popped up once the boss bar was turned off.

Alright, that works nice, though I can still see the enemy bar pop up just before the flash to white. Oh well... By the way can you add an option to turn off the shaking of the boss bar when you land a hit? It looks odd that the number and the boss name stay still while the rest shakes.

I hope you plan on doing some sort of HUD as well in this style. This is just looking so kicken!

This seems to work good for me so far, I just wanted to point out it doesn't seem to be compatiable with Blizz's Beastiary with plug in for Blizz ABS.

Actually Blizz-ABS has all features that XAS has except for a few very minor things. They were not implemented because there kind of is no point since it can be done by combining 2 or 3 other Blizz-ABS features.

that is not entirely true. I could list alot of things we cant do in blizz-abs,
but these things are being covered up slowly as people keep on releasing more add-ons.

other way to look at it the bossing system is incredible. how skills work.
you can pick up objects and throw them at enemies and inflict demage.
Throwing these objects on switches to make an event switch turn on, moving the object away, the switch turns off.
it has a Multi demage display feature but it only works with XAS >:, (if you remmeber what that is)
1:01 thats a skill, not just a combo, all the combats hes doing at the white screen is one skill. i guess you could do that witht he combo system, but its very hard to S:.
and plus something that i guess someone is working on for blizz abs right now (at least I hope)
is animation while charge.

You mean besides the way that it looks like crap? Why don't you simply use an idle sprite animation in Blizz-ABS? Way to complicate things in XAS.

The biggest difference here is that the initial (and very slim) XAS was made by a programmer and afterwards it was developed by a graphics designed. Blizz-ABS was made by 2 professional programmers, people who actually earn money with programming. That is also the reason why XAS still has many bugs there will never be fixed because Moghunter keeps adding graphical features to XAS (which have started to repeat itself) instead of fixing it so it works. I'm not saying that Blizz-ABS has no bugs, but it has far less bugs than XAS from what people told me.

In any case, use what you want, it's your choice. I'd rather hit the attractive high class girl.

With forced actions and DOING SOME WORK THAT *HOLY SHIT* MAY SEEM HARD you could recreate that same boss affect. Nobody said developing a game would be easy.

Now I'd gladly recreate it but I don't need to prove anything to you or to XAS. Now RoseSkye puts XAS to shame with all of his awesome RMXP videos that use Blizz-ABS.

XAS didn't have ally system, custom control, netplay/RMXOS
hotkey is already exist
but the configuration is advanced, nice graphic, flashy demo, realistic environment

Blizz ABS have most of XAS feature, even the ally system that XAS didn't have
but the configuration is too simple, I can't make the skill, enemies, boss, etc like in my imagination
(I read the manual several times and didn't get an answer I need, probably the next version Blizz ABS will satisfy me)

well, I'm trying to convert all XAS feature to Blizz ABS

Most of XAS graphical "features" aren't even native XAS features. They are Mog's HUD scripts or stuff like that which you can use with Blizz-ABS as well. You can almost take out the script and add it into a Blizz-ABS project and it will work just fine.

I'd just like to note BlizzABS kicks XAS ass around the block and back. Normal BlizzABS naysayers are usually noobs that couldn't event their way out of a wet paper bag. That combo counter in the video is a B-ABS exclusive. The combo system in the video is a B-ABS deviant that turns the ABS into a fighter system... and that's the old version. The new M.A.G. system basically blows XAS and it's lame gradients out of the water. What drago's doing has basically already been done by my staff but without stealing an XAS script just because they have no imagination. Just sayin'... If Blizz and Mog ever had a contest my money is going on Blizz.

I am primarily a programmer, but I also have graphic skills. I've been long enough in game development and have good enough skills in Photoshop to be able to make some really good stuff. After all, if you take into consideration that I made some of the graphics in CP (some animations like the Analyze thing, sprite graphics like the warp portal and misc graphics like the whole menu except the background and the health bars in the monster arena) and that I made this forum skin, your money is well placed on me. >:3

I got a question.

I'm trying to make a boss type enemy and I want the boss health meter on but also, the boss has some helpers(regular enemies) by its side. Striking the boss should be the way how to deplete the health meter but if I attack one of the regular enemies helping the boss, a new boss health meter replaces the boss' health meter just for that small enemy and the boss' health meter will contenue back to where it was when I hit the boss again.

So, is there any way how I can make it where just the boss is affected by the health meter without having it affecting the other enemies?

There shouldn't be much difference in the HUD part of the code between 2.79 and 2.8x.

EDIT: I just checked the code a bit and the code is just minimally changing Blizz-ABS. It's basically changing a bit of code that's been around since 2.0, maybe even 1.x. If this script isn't working for you, you must be doing something horribly wrong. Double check the instructions, maybe you missed something.

check the script order first, probably you have some script that rewrite Scene_Map below this script

I used BABS 2.84 and it works perfectly. Like I said in that other posts, this is one of my favorite scripts.

check the script order first, probably you have some script that rewrite Scene_Map below this script

Legal revival of topic.

The download to the files that are used to make the bar isn't working. Does anyone have a backup? I would make my own graphics but I don't know the dimensions that are used.




EDIT: I looked through the posts and found a demo from a user that had the files. It might worth replacing the download file in the first post with this link I will provide instead. A mod can do this since I haven't seen Littledrago in a while :uhm:
