That is quite literally the perfect style of clothing! Well done good sir!

The hair looks a little weird to me right now, but that's probably just because there isn't a face to go with it, or perhaps because it's not colored/shaded. Idk, it will probably turn out great as more detail is added in.

A few small things:
1. Shoes - you said you'd work on it later, so I'll trust you on this one.
2. Neck - seems too thin.
3. Sword - scabbard shouldn't be sticking through his sash (painful). I would have the scabbard tied to the side of the sash.

Looks like a great start. I agree with winkio that the hair seems not quite right at the moment. The feet also look like they could use a little more work. Everything else looks great!

I think I know what you were trying to do with the hair. The tonsure is the right idea, but you've done it too big. Also, I think that hair below the top of the ears of a tonsure is shorter than hair above.

The sword looks nice. I haven't been reading the development threads since I've been away on self imposed complex related exile. Is the sword the definite weapon? I just don't think it's very...clerical.

I see nothing wrong with the sword. Keep in mind these aren't Christian monks we are talking about, but members of the Church of the Overgod. They have some divine combat powers from the overgod, so I don't see anything wrong with a sword (or any other weapon for that matter).

The way I understand it is that William is able to use the majority of weapons; just because he is depicted with a sword in his concept art doesn't necessarily mean that it is the weapon he'll be using the whole game.

Yeah, I like the idea of each character using multiple weapons. Instead of Sword 1, Sword 2, Sword 3, it could be sword, rapier, tonfa, brass knuckles, etc.

I'm not sure if a tonsure would fit a main character as it would make him look kinda old imo...

I'd like to hear/see some hair suggestions and I'll draw a few variants until we get to something that works (I'll try the tonsure too, anyways xP).

He is a monk...Anyway, long hair, shoulder length, perhaps? But less expansive, definitely. The way you have it now is just...there isn't a smiley for it.

Hello everyone, I'm using William's Concept Art post to tell you that I've been on some sort of vacations, (far away from internet xP) and now I'm back, so I'll update the drawings ASAP. (I'm kinda sick now too as autumn is starting over here so I'll get to it when I get healthier xP)

Btw, thx for the suggestion on all 4 characters, I'll do my best to make'em work. ^^

Good to hear that you're back. Don't stress about it too much; while we like seeing updates and making progress with the game, don't let it take priority over more important things.

In a reply for your comments on the four characters I've got to say that I haven't been drawing anything in almost two years... I used to be a perfectionist when drawing, but I put time over quality on this or I would never get the free time I'd need to make them look exactly as I'd like to.

Anyway, as I've said before, I'll keep fixing them as much as my daily schedule allows me to. :3

We should all keep in mind that these are just drafts, as well; I don't think it's worth the time to perfect every little detail if we're still going to be making changes to the design.

Well, I'm not really sure what the spriters are planning. I know that the in-game sprites will be based of of your work for sure, but I'm not sure if and when a direct conversion would be used. You'll have to take it up with the people spriting for the project and get things figured out.

Hold on a second. RTP actor battlers look crap. Try to make them fit with the rtp, but not be the rtp.

I think these current style of drawings would be more suited to a menu or status screen. The battlers will have to be facing the other direction, if we're still planning on following the original battle mock-up I put together. They'll need to be facing with their back to the player, and slightly to the left. Still, we should fine-tune the characters' designs and make sure that everything is how we want it before we start worrying about the various sprites and images of them that we will need.

Okay, here is exactly what we need from you for the first demo:

1. Battle, Death, and Victory poses for all party members (similar style to RTP battlers)

2. Facesets for each party member (any style you want, doesn't have to be that anime-style that we see so often). We just need a single faceset for each for the demo, but after the demo, we will need ones showing different emotions, for example anger, surprise, etc.

Try to finalize one pose for each party member ASAP so we can create their sprites for the map. Let us know if you run into any issues, and post stuff up for feedback

I'd say not to draw the sword, unless we are going to use an specific sprite for each weapon equipped.

The face could be thinner by a few pixels, and the hair could be up higher. Also, his clothing looks more like a gi or some karate suit. It should look more like a dress robe, so a little looser and with defined angles at the shoulder and waist, like in Hatsamu's drawing.

Yes, we are. And rtp faces are different sizes and there are some that are thinner, specifically male faces.

EDIT: I just noticed the hair is dis-oriented. That's fixed in my current draft and will be better in my next upload.
