IRC Event Schedule
All events are scheduled at GMC/UTC time (24h).  To figure out what time that corresponds to in your time zone, check this site: http://www.worldtimezone.com/  Remember to account for daylight savings if you are in the USA!

Special Events:

  • Tuesday, 5/10/11, 1800 - 2300: Integration Initiation Celebration! Celebrate the beginning of IRC being awesome, Chaos style!

Weekly Events:
  • Fridays, 1800 - 2300: Weekend Kick Off! Chill with your CP friends and listen to music, talk about what you are doing over the weekend, and relax :)

So, we have an IRC channel for our forum, but it has been underused for quite a while.  This is a shame, because it presents one of the best avenues for communication, especially compared to the shoutbox (which people sometimes use instead).  So, I had an idea:

IRC Integration!

What this involves is having scheduled events on IRC.  These could be anything as informal as 'Music Tuesday', where we just take turns posting links to our favorite songs every week, or 'Art Shows' where people just talk about what they are working on and any recently finished work.  They could also be formal conversations such as the 'State of the Community' where we all talk about how CP is holding up and what direction we are going.

Thoughts?  If people don't like this idea, is it because you don't like IRC in general, or you just don't like the specifics of the idea?

Ah, excellent.  You liked my amusing sideshow, yes?  I'm just a simple fool, my wit entertains the wise, and my wisdom fools the fools.

winkio suggested this idea to me and after we have been talking about this idea a bit and I think it's a very interesting way to bring to community closer together.

I agree... One of the sites I used tio Admin, had chat nights every week, usually Mondays. The process was simple. One user was selected to talk about a topic, and, they 'presented it' in some form, and the rest of the membership had a discussion about it.. The topics rarely had to do with the site contents too, so that way people got to know each other, see each others other interests, etc.. Maybe a good idea to replicate here? They always turned out to be good, and, they ended up bringing people together more.

Bumping this topic because I would like to know what happened to this idea.
I am done scripting for RMXP. I will likely not offer support for even my own scripts anymore, but feel free to ask on the forum, there are plenty of other talented scripters that can help you.

hm, I'm going to make a schedule in the first post of weekly IRC events / special IRC events.  Let me know when you want to add something to the list.

EDIT: so yeah, the timing is kinda awful because of everybody's different time zones, but the initiation celebration begins in 35 minutes from the time of this edit.
