So, seeing as I can never manage to get myself to search through all the topics, I decided to be decidedly arrogant and make a topic ALL ABOUT ME.

That is, me talking to everyone else. Who knows, maybe if I establish a working dialogue with some of the members here, I'll start caring enough to join the community at large.

Well after leaving CP after our spat I got bored a lot, but I sated myself with browsing dA every once in a while, dicking around on youtube, hangin' out outside doing fuck all, and playing loads of video games.

And then came the announcement in E3 '09. A new Golden Sun game. I spent HOURS, DAYS looking up fanwork for Golden Sun, since I was a closet fanatic of the game(I've played Lost age upwardsw of fifty times through) for years. On deviantArt I found a good fanfiction writer with works that impressed me.

In one of his comment sections, he noted that he was inspired by a group of friends of his at fanfiction.net. So I headed over there to find these people. This was a few months after my perma ban. And once there, I registered an account, and spent a while lurking around on their forum. It was kind of slow, but once I was able to post I quickly inserted myself into the zany place.

To say of it, the place was very laidback. there were, all told, only about 5-7 members, and nobody around anymore who had moderating abilities. The admin had neglected to make anyone a mod before up and vanishing on everyone, but people got around well. And then a few months later it turns out the admin hadn't forgotten about everyone after all!

Said admin brought me to another forum, one on invisionfree(which has since moved to zetaboards - it's free and also a fairly good forum host place. If you're looking for a new host, I reccomend giving Zeta a look-see at least. It makes choosing avatars much easier).

So I've spent most of my internet time since on this other place. A small fact many of you are aware of is my intense, violent paranoia. They've alleviated that, to an extent. All in all, I find myself far more comfortable there than here, which is why you so rarely see me.

In comparing the two, the major difference appears to be this: the other forum is a community of people there to have fun with people, based around Golden Sun being the primary similarity for everyone. And this place almost seems like it's supposed to be a workplace. There's no forum in the other place where posts don't count toward your postcount, and as such some people have ridiculous postcounts(I myself have over 16,000).

And the existence of this other forum predates any Chaos Project posts.

So yeah, I spent over a year there, and tried to get Dio to posts there, since I kept in touch with the guy. He gave it a shot and though I'm still a small bit persistent with it, he never sticks around for more than apost here or there when I bother him. He, on the other hand, tried to convince me to convince Blizz to let me back.

Long story short: Eventually I did. When I had a grandiose, HUGELY AMAZING idea for a game. So I got Blizz to let me back (wasn't all that hard - I guess hard feelings fade after a year and a half). And since then I've showed up here every few days / weeks to poke in and say hi, fulfilling requests for my Storyline Service upon occasion, and overall just feeling a bit outcasted.

I'm a bit of an orange, which so far as I can tell is an internet constant for 'not-sexually minded person' meaning despite the fact that I'm otherwise a fully grown person, I don't have any drive to look for a mate. To translate that to other terms, I'm not sexual in any way and in fact am turned off by sexual jokes and the like. Which kind of permeates this place 100%.

So couple that with this place being quite a bit more strict than the forum I usually go to, I never really came to feel again as if I fit in here at CP, so I keep my presence to a minimum. And somewhere along the line I discovered I was never really comfortable here at CP. When things got stressful in reality, I would have to take a break from CP because I didn't trust myself to be calm here.

And in all honesty, things have changed since I left. Most of the people I was friendly with don't show up much anymore, and the rule system and how it's enforced is so different from the way I'm used to. So yeah, that's my story.

Oh, and I'm taking a public speaking class nowadays. It's a pretty interesting experience.

winkio

Disclaimer: I don't dislike you, just want to say this, and it will most likely sound a little harsh.  Also, you strike me as the type of person who may not take this post very well.  If that is the case and it makes you angry, just calmly say so and I'll drop it.

You are missing out on so much by spending almost all of your time in your little niche community.  There is nothing wrong with hanging out and making friends with people completely different than you.  You mentioned all the sexual jokes here, and how they make you uncomfortable.  Does that mean that if somebody doesn't drink alcohol that they cannot or should not hang out with people that do?  Of course not.  You have to try to adjust to other people instead of insisting that they always adjust to you.  When you start doing this, you will see completely new worlds from the perspectives of others.

I find it funny that you think this site is so work oriented.  It's simply people showing off what they are doing with their free time.  In many cases, it happens to be RM games.  Some people, like Sub, post music.  Other people post interesting philosophy, or drawings, or other creative items.

The final thing I noticed were some weird statements:
1. And this place almost seems like it's supposed to be a workplace
2. So I got Blizz to let me back (wasn't all that hard - I guess hard feelings fade after a year and a half)
3. and overall just feeling a bit outcasted
All of these reflect a bit of paranoia.  The community here has nothing to be afraid of, it's only agenda is to have fun.

There's more I could say, but I think I'll stop there.

Vell

The community I'm at has well over 100 people active, posting rapid-fire, Winkio. I forgot to mention that - after that admin came back and whisked me away to that other forum(from the one with 7 people) the one I'm at has many many active people.

And wink, I mentioned that I'm paranoid. It's been a fairly out-there fact since I joined this place about four years ago.

I'm seriously paranoid, and the other place has helped alleviate it, as I said.

I'm not offended, Wink. It's actually pretty hard to do that. It's easy to get me on the defensive, though.

Spaceman McConaughey

May I please have a link to this forum? It sounds like an awesome place.

winkio

Hm, the number of people wasn't what I was referring to with 'your little niche community'.  Granted, I'm operating on very little information, but it seemed like you joined that community and fit right in really easily.  One of the main points of my last post was that just because you don't fit in right away doesn't mean that you shouldn't be a part of a community.

Vell

Well, no, when I first joined it was pretty rocky. I've been there going on two years now, though. I've found a niche(lolololol) there since.

I just have no idea where to post. I write, but I don't really have the ability to commit / none of my projects are something I'd share, or in jokes with my friends irl or something. And the conversation tends to drift towards sexual references rather easily. I don't mind a little innuendo, but some of the things I see when I just pop in and take a glance at the shoutbox, it's like someone pretending to masturbate or something.

Just a bit too much for me, really.

winkio

Okay then, that just leaves one more thing that I'm confused about (idk, maybe you are too).  You said Dio tried to convince Blizz to let you back.  Dio has since gone inactive, and I haven't seen you really talk with anyone else.  You just don't want to get involved, or what?

Vell

I said Dio tried to convince me to try to get Blizz to let me back.

And as far as I can tell, Dio's busy busy busy with school stuff.

And well, I made this thread to counter that last issue.

Spaceman McConaughey

So I am not getting the name of the site? :P

Vell

Nope. :3

Sorry.

And Wink, much of my reservation comes from that I'm comfortable at the other place - I've opened up in ways I never have on the internet in the past. I've admitted to things that I never would have in the past. And it's all very recent, and as time goes on I open up more and more and faster and faster...

My paranoia is still present, though. And it's freaking out because it's thinking 'zomg now you've opened up, if you go to a new group you'll open up easier because  you have already, you've ruined everything, goddamnit I've got to set up all these barriers all over again, you damned fool, what were you thinking, and it's up to me to protect you and' blah blah blah I'm a paranoid freakoid, what else is new?

Does nobody remember here that I'm a radioactive bulldog. The whole 'IT' thing that was a forum-wide injoke? I don't get any of the jokes now, you guys have gone and moved past all of what was familiar to me and in its place is a series of jokes and things I find myself not understanding. Of course I'm going to have difficulty integrating, especially with an inner conflict raging.

...And I've tried to get some RPs going here already, but the one I opened died pretty fast.

Maybe I'll try to do another one.

Maybe if Ulta didn't want to give you a link to the other site, it had some reason behind it. It might be best if you respect it's wishes, though I suppose no one can stop you if you choose to do otherwise.

Regardless, I do not have a mom who majored in the English language and as such perceive these phrases differently.

And how is it not being kind to register? I fail to see that.

Anyone with a brain would realize that I am aware of that, but there was really no need for me to mention it.

Well, to explain WhiteRose.

If I was tightlipped about it, it's probably because I didn't want you all to know, and thus it would be polite to respect my wishes.

I know what you mean, I usually avoid that kind of talk as well. I use either straightforward sexual statements or heavy sexual innuendo (both here and in real life). Everything else kills the sexual tension.

I know what you mean Ulta, the constant stream of sex jokes in the shout box makes me flinch sometimes. I tend to ignore tham unless on the off chance I'm in the mood to find them funny.

I do not see how sexual jokes can be worse than jokes about murder. But that's just me.

Subsonic_Noise

Every thing that is funny can become annoying when overused. And many people seem to think that simply saying something sexual is hillarious.. to me there is more to humour than that.

Good point.

Vell

Hmm, it's in the injoke with the 'murder' thing. I'm the IT, the big unknown mysterious creature. The local Eldritch Abomination(It'll take a while to take that mantle back, if I want it. Eh.) of sorts. I'm supposed to be terrifying. So when I go around saying *stab stab murder grrr* it's like 'Oh, the world is right.'

Well, Wink, one of my teachers last year suggest I take a public speaking class this year because I'm shy to help me get over it. I listened despite my initial misgivings, and I can't really say as that I'm disappointed. Sometimes my speeches are uninspired but I do know that when I deliver a good speech, the class talks about it for the remainder of the period.
