I loved that game! The feature of not being able to see anything made it very unique.
EDIT: Nevermind; it's working now. I guess my computer was just being slow. Anyway, now that I can see what game it actually is....
Great game. Good times.

The very last game to be released on the SNES before the coming of the N64. In fact, N64 was already out when this game was released.

Technically, not really. Frogger was released in 1998, about a year and a half after Lufia II, and there was a game released in 2000, though it was a re-release of a game from 1991, so it's debatable whether that counts. In any case, you could say that Lufia II was the last
good game to be released on the SNES. I <3 that game. Goooood times.... And epic music, to boot. A shame that there never was a sequel that lived up to it.

Homecoming is really ****s. These yankees destroyed a great series, and now they foul up a Front Mission...
My only best game from Silent Hill series - SH3... I remember how I and my friend sit a few hours on the last puzzle with taro on hard mode... Great thing.
Too bad. :/ I thought that SH4 was already meh, but that one was an experiment to see if they can take the series into a new direction. I'm going to play Homecoming anyway. I want to see what they did.

After Yamaoka left the Konami, all the SH out the slag.
Silent Hill has always been hard as hell for me, partly because I try to attack every monster, usually the radio goes off and I freak out. xD And I haven't played any of them beyond SH2, and when they made a movie I knew it was going to suck. And it did. =/

All I know is that the SH series scares the hell out of me, and the plot is really good too.

It's a Dept. Heaven thing. There's ALWAYS a hot springs scene. ALWAYS.

SoE is possibly my all time favorite game
Didn't I mention SoE already? Yeah, it's a great game.
nope you didnt thats why i put it up
but the odd for me most of the old games mentions here from Snes to playstation2 i still have
what can i say im a old school gamer all the way.
and what no welcome back to CP blizz...geez your nice :)
I barely even read who's still posting so I didn't notice you. xD
Welcome back! :D
I admit i'm a lazy bastard, so if these have been mentioned already here, somebody give me a kick on the ass.
Kirby's adventure, especially the NES version. All though the GBA re-make is not that different, i prefer the original. I even own it IRL, i just have no clue where i've lost the cartridge.
Then there are the Castlevanias. I own Simon's curse my self. Then there is Duck Hunt. On a emulator, it's a complete waste of time, but with the actual zapper, it's way more fun.
Then there's the Nintendo World Cup soccer game. The best soccer game. EVER!
Then we leave the NES territory for now and enter PSX world. First three Tekkens, ah so good. Crash series (Sierra ruined it, hang them!), Spyro-series (haven't played these new ones...), then there was a sort of a physics puzzle game, Kula World. And then there were Twisted Metal games... And the two games where you play as a skeleton (forgotten the series name)...
And Soul Reaver. I love that game.
I loved the whole Legacy of Kain series, though I never played Blood Omen 1.
another good classic oldie was Brain Lord on SNES
Do I have the right to revive this super dead sticky topic? :(

not exactly my favorite but I remember my mom always playing it when I was little. So it's part of my childhood.

Figured I put it in this topic since this was all nostalgia related to begin with.
Here are images of some games that I have recently purchased online and they just came in and all work really great.(images are taken off the internet due to not having a camera at the moment.)

I am gonan try to put up some sceens of from me actually playing the games themselves.
While I was in the hospital I played on the SNES emulator on my iPod Touch to kill time. I played Zelda 3, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Lufia 2 - Rise of the Sinistrals, Ogre Battle - March of the Black Queen and Final Fantasy 6.
I'm playing link to the past now actually. Just beat the first dark world dungeon.
YES! I just got the confirmation that the rest of my order will be in tomorrow,I am rather excited.
But until then I decided to stop playing Secret of Evermore and begin playing Robotrek.
those of you haven't played that game before really should try it out,it is one of the more entertaining rpgs I have ever played.
I agree. Robotrek was quite fun.
@winkio: It was a bit of a challenge to play it on the screen of an iPod Touch with the buttons being so small and all. xD Same goes for Secret of Mana and Secret of Evermore. That's why I tried playing mostly turn-based games. xD
I'm playing on my laptop. Frame skip is so nice.
Is there anything different from the GBA version of a Link to the Past from the original SNES version?
I've only played the GBA version so I'm not sure...
Nothing major, but GBA has some cool extra features and controls are a lot better:

The first video game I ever played. :P I know, it's not that old, but it's nostalgic for me.

Also, my favourite video game of all time:

Especially with games like Ogre Battle. #_#
yeah ogre battle on a actual console tends to take forever,I know I have played it many a time on my SNES.
it takes a minimum of 1 hours to get past some of the later parts of the games without frame skip
First game I ever played. And it was the actual SNES version.

the best fighting game i've played: ShowHide (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_AJslNHorsP8/TIx4SOtqeJI/AAAAAAAAASQ/QvlEvmxXKqA/s1600/2861_1.png)
I love the original three, plus the two spin-off's on ps1 and i feel that Wrath is at par with the ps1 games... But the sierra games... GOD HAVE MERCY!
one of the best 3d platformers ever!: ShowHide (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/fi/4/44/Crash_Bandicoot_Cover.png)
I still have this and the third one, and i used to have the first, but have lost it... haven't played the newer ones, are they any good? I have heard a bit of hate towards them, but nowhere as much as towards Sierra and what they did with Crash

EDIT: Did anyone else play this game when they were a kid?
EDIT 2: Also, Spy Fox. Good times. I think I probably missed about half of the jokes in that game.
Quote"Spy Fox to Mobile Command Center... I've penetrated William the Kid's secret fortress, and I've found the disarm button for his dastardly Milky Weapon of Destruction. Unfortunately, it seems to require some sort of diode to function. In lieu of further developments, I think I'll spend the next few hours playing Happy Fun Sub on my Spy Watch. Spy Fox out."
XD
I just saw that they re-released these for the app store. I wonder if my little sister would like them as much as I did....
BUMP!Let's see here... Nostalgia means mainly PS1 and NES for me :P
(http://thegamingliberty.com/wp-content/uploads/Tombi-f.jpg)
I loved the demo i had as a kid and wanted the full game, and i do have it, though on the PS3... I need to find time to finish this awesome game at some point...
Then there's
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/85/R-Type_Delta_(cover).jpg)
Even though i generally tend to suck at them, i find them mostly fun.
I played R-Type back on the SNES. Good times.
I think I liked Darius Twin better, though, because of the two-player co-op. I'm pretty sure later R-Types added that, though.
I played R-Type for the SNES as well, but only on an emulator. I admit that the game is just too hard. xD
So I drove by a yard sale and their son had just moved out and they were selling a lot of his video game stuff. I only wish I had more money, he had some good stuff there. But I did manage to pick up some amazing things.
1. Majora's Mask - Holographic Sticker
2. Ape Escape (Greatest Hits Label)
3. Chrono Cross (Black Label)
4. Beyond the Beyond (Black Label)
5. Gameshark Adapter for the PSOne (an actual cartridge that plugs into the back of the PS, built in cheats and also lets you play imports and backups)
Here's some pics for you guys. What amazes me even more is the manuals for the PS games are still there, I only wish the case for Majora's Mask had been there. Oh by the way, did I mention I only picked this stuff up for a measly $20? Also, don't be fooled by the 12 dollar sticker on Ape Escape, I guess he had previously got it from a pawnshop, the lady sold it to me for 2 dollars.
Warning, very high-res photos:
http://imgur.com/a/eFeAl
I remember playing all of these games as a kid (aside from the gameshark thing, never even seen one but it works well) and picking these up for such a great price is astonishing.
EDIT: Not really nostalgia, but I picked up a Wii from them for 25 bucks. Had two wiimotes, two nunchuks and a classic controller. Also had Super Mario Galaxy in there, already modded and loaded with Project M, been dying to try it.
You got a holographic Majora's Mask and a black label Chrono Cross!? D: You hit the jackpot.
I know right? Also had all three Syphon Filters, Metal Gear Solid, GTA I and II, FF 8 and 9, Frogger, and Silent Hill. His N64 box made me drool and I wanted to buy the lot. Had Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2, that adapter gamepak transfer thing (for pokemon), Super Mario 64, Smash Bros, Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, Ocarina of Time, Banjo Kazooie (and Tooie), and this weird dust cleaning cartridge. God, I wish I had like 50 more bucks to go blow on this garage sale.

D:D:
Wow Gameus, I'm beyond jealous, but I also feel bad that you couldn't get it all D: such a good deal! I wonder if that guy will be mad to know that his parents sold his stuff or if he didn't care anymore
I still have my old Pokemon Stadium 1 and Transfer Pak back home.
Oh man, that's awesome. The only reason I didn't get them is because I don't have a GB console to play any of the GB Pokemon games, thus the transfer pak would be useless to me (especially since I don't own any of the GB games) which makes Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 get boring after a bit playing with stock pokemon.
This is exactly the reason why I bought a Blue Version later. I realized that there's no way to beat Stadium Level 2 without your own Pokemon. The stock ones just won't do.
Not as nostalgic but i did pick up the 1.5 HD remix for KH yesterday... If i don't beat Riku tomorrow in the race to name the raft, i'm just gonna move on... I think i've only once beaten him in it... BTW, does anyone know if beating him and getting to name the raft affects the name of the default Gummi Ship. I can't remember...
Beating him does affect the name of the ship, it'll just be named Highwind if you lose, but if you win, well you get to keep your name but nothing else special happens. He just says something like "It's just a race" along those lines anyways (it's been awhile).
If i can, i would like to name the ship TARDIS :P
I managed to find SaGa Frontier on a yard sale about a week ago, (box and manual included)
can't wait to get to Genocide Heart again,
I need to start going to more yard sales....
You can be amazed at what games you can find at yard sales. Including going to a flea market or even a pawn shop, I have gotten some older games that way, and they were in surprisingly good shape too.
I hate pawn shops. Well most anyways when it comes to video games because they do price lookups and get as much as I can. I remember seeing a really worn copy of Smash Bros 64 (the casing was really beat up and hard marker all over it) they were asking for 45 dollars.
Craigslist is also pretty good for games. When I was shopping around for XL, I found a lady in my area selling them for $125 new in the box. I'm not sure how she would get them though, because she told me "I'm all out until next thursday." (Probably stolen 3dsxls, but IDC lol.) Either way, I ended up buying it at wallmart because anxious
Picked up some more stuff, this time from eBay however.
Total Cost: $127
I can't wait until everything gets here. Gonna play through Blue all the way and then do some transferring to Pokemon Stadium. My next target will be Pokemon Stadium 2, another gameboy, and a link cable.
Sweet.
I HIT THE JACKPOT GUYS.
Total Cost: $150~
(http://puu.sh/7OxZJ.png)
Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen. I got each of this games for 20 bucks each, only spent 100 dollars. Most of these games for for 30+ bucks too. Figured since I scored this, I might as well pickup another GBA and a link cable. Anyone up for a lan party? :3
Lol nice, reminds me of when I uses to play ruby/sapphire with my little brother. We would do that thing where you could see eachothers secret base, lol. So much fun on the gba...
I still have my Pokemon: Sapphire, and I picked up a few games today at a store that just opened up in my town that only sells retro games and systems.
I got:
Parasite Eve
Tales of Destiny 2
another copy of Secret of Mana
Rogue Galaxy
and a few others.
I will post a picture of them when I get the chance to.
So here it is. All main final fantasy games for the PSOne (except Tactics, it's on it's way). They're all complete in box black labels and I'm proud to own them all!

I USED to have all those, except Origins (but I did have Tactics!).
That was before I sold them all years ago... :(
Secret of Evermore just came to my mind. Man. That game was awesome. I still remember the commercial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEu8wDAQuDk
I just finished replaying these games while at work, and I gotta say I did miss them. SNES has to be my favorite generation of gaming, it is just something about them that just clicks with me ya know.
The games I played through again for the countless time now:
Kid Clown in Crazy Chase
Brainlord
Secret of Evermore
and Robotrek
they just don't make games like they use to. Games now seem to focus on how pretty they can be rather than having fun gameplay and story lines etc.

I might be in a minority but... I do like my older games but I love quite a few of the games that are new. You have those telltale games that make great platforms for storytelling. Life Is Strange is sooo good ._. I also recently picked up Ori in the Blind Forest and I'm really digging the gameplay/art/story.
I picked up an N64 emulator recently and I've been playing Majora's Mask. I love that game sooo much.
Wow, what a commercial! Secret of Evermore is a very peculiar game, it was made for the western market, wasn't it?
Also, even if it looks pretty similar to the Mana series, it is completely different. And in fact it has loads of bugs that the Mana games don't have, mostly because of the alchemy system but also in the way it manages the party members or something. You should see a speedrun to know how broken is this game. Or maybe not xDD.
---
Some weeks ago I started Ocarina of Time, but time has been a bitch with me (dem work, much busy), and so it has been like two weeks since I beaten the forest temple, and haven't made progress since.
Apparently Square's North America division took the engine from Secret of Mana and hacked it to create Secret of Evermore which is also why it has a very American feel to it and was never released in Japan.
On another note I played through Chaos Legion recently. I saw some guy speedrun it and I was thinking "Shit, I think I can do this better with some practice." since I saw him not using some tricks that I knew could save some time here and there. I haven't committed to speedrunning it yet though. xD
@orochii: yes, SoE was made to appeal to the western audience, I love how the hero makes a random movie reference for just about everything, and the dog has always made me laugh, where it get's the hero into more trouble than is needed sometimes. Also if you play SoE on emulator there are versions that have multiplayer unlocked. You should play it, cause the ending is such a twist and funny at the same time.
@Blizz: SoE is the same engine as SoM just that they locked the multiplayer out of it, cause people didn't use it much in SoM back then.
I still love the theme of SoE where it is just a ordinary guy and his dog on a crazy adventure.
Actually I was playing Seiken Densetsu 3 with my girlfriend <3 (just after we finished Legend of Mana *v*). It could be fun to play SoE later, after we manage to beat SK3 xD.
You know, multiplayer RPGs are great. They don't have the problems of MMOs where the story is rarely well developed. And of course, since there are two (or more?) characters, the possibilities for roleplay are higher.
I can't think right now of a well made multiplayer RPG (though I'm not savvy on the matter). I know you can play things like Fable with friends, but... I don't know, it's not the same. One of the character feels out of his place, like just thrown in there. This happened in Legend of Mana too but you could also use the NPCs, they often had something valuable to add to the story.
I could compile a list of snes era rpgs that I enjoyed playing that had good stories(to me anyways) and were just fun to play for you. Now some of them won't have multiplayer but I think you may still enjoy them.

Not entirely. There are a couple of modifications, one of the most obvious probably being the alchemy system. Another one that I can name from the top off my head is the different running system with stamina and the fact that you can run much longer if you first charged your weapon. Enemy and boss AI are also quite different. There are also subtle modifications in how hit boxes, collision and evasion work.
I used to play SoM with my sister. xD I was really disappointed when SoE didn't have the multiplayer so we could play together.

SoE and SoE are awesome games indeed, one of my friends actually gave me a modded SoE cartridge with the multiplayer mod + difficulty patches enabled
(2 player mod let's player 2 play as the dog, you can toggle this on and off, the difficulty patch, reworks some of the alchemy damage formulas, makes some cool items more frequent and available, levels all weapons of the same family instead of individually and made the dog not-so-OP at the endgame)
I gotta say, it's quite a contrast from SoM, but all in all both are some really good RPG's,
moving that aside, the same guy who gave the modded SoE cart, also recently obtained an english copy of little samson, I'll probably play it a bit on the weekend and check it out.
Now I figured I would post this up.
I dunno who here has played the Breath of Fire series, but I have managed to get my hands on all the games, plus the gba ports.
The only port I am missing is the Breath of Fire 3 psp port, and once I have that I can truly say I have managed to get my hands on all of the games for the series.
Without further ado:
Now I am not opposed to the idea of getting the psp port of BoF3 if someone has it. :naughty:
I'll have to get pictures, but I have a similar collection with the Final Fantasy games. Black Label cases + Manuals + near perfect discs. All the way from 1-12 (PSX + PS2 Era, Minus FFXI and the new III since VI was technically III I still think its fucking stupid)
FF Origins had I + II
FF Anthology had V + VI
FF Chronicles had Chrono Trigger + IV
Also had Chrono Cross Black label + Manual since it felt right to have it alongside the collection.
I didn't go that in depth in chasing after ports for other systems like the GBA ports. I'll make sure to get pictures.
One of the fellow old school gamers at a local shop mentioned he like the BoF series and was a fan, and I I thought pffff, and I revealed to him I had the original games and the ports I got, it kinda blew his mind.
