Welcome! / Hello!
February 29, 2016, 12:46:50 pm
Hello Chaos-Project!

I'm Fallen Angel X! Although now I guess you can just call me Ana. I went inactive a while back but I thought of the folks on here and thought I'd swing by to say hi.

I've been loafing around for a few years but I'm going to go back into school for programming. I'm also hoping to get back into posting on here, maybe. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well! And Blizz, I hope you're still being awesome?

Welcome! / Bye! It's been great!
August 18, 2010, 07:24:35 pm
Bye everyone! I'm leaving the forums. I might check in once in awhile like I have before but I feel like announcing my absence this time around. It's been great watching the forum grow when I first joined. I know this is the internet but I'll still miss CP, after all I'm a pedophile :V: Game_Guy, you better become more of a legend than Blizzard! If I check in and you've retired... *shakes fist* Good luck WhiteRose on Forums and Flamewars, as well as everyone else with their respective game projects.

Well, bye. Too bad I don't got a sarcastic statement to end this thing with =\

Oh and Blizz, keep your pants on in this topic please.

Hi guys! I've started really getting into the streetfighter games and loving it. Not sure if anyone else here plays them too, but if you do, I'd love to play a few matches. I've got PSN but no XBL =\ It's Tikoja for anyone who does want to add me.

Programming / Scripting / Web / Database Help
June 08, 2010, 12:10:31 pm
So I'm working on a final project for school when me and my team hit a snag. We're working with Java and want to create a database. The problem we've hit is that I have no clue as to how to set up a database with the proper driver. Can someone help me or redirect me to a site that might help?

Chat / Good news topic instead of bad news?! Blasphemy!
October 16, 2009, 01:10:31 pm
Lol, decided I'd post up a few articles involving good news. Reasons for doing so, are mainly because Rose posts up a lot of negative articles. Actually, there are a few articles that aren't bad but, they're typically negative. So, you get the point. xD

Iight, time to search for good news xP Oh, btw, my articles will probably be Canadian based. Sorry to our american neighbors to the south xD And everyone else :P

Quote from: Toronto NewsFollowing his death in 2005 at the relatively young age of 42, Jonathan Enchin's family created a foundation in his memory: the Jonathan Enchin Community Fund (JECF). As Jonathan was an active and giving member in his community, particularly towards the elderly, the funds are directed at low-income Jewish seniors. Since July 2008, the Kehilla Residential Programme (a non-profit housing agency in Toronto and the GTA) has been overseeing a JECF program to assist Jewish seniors by giving them financial relief and by helping to foster their self-worth. The generous donation of JECF is matched with funds from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, providing a monthly stipend to over two dozen seniors for three years.

Quote from: Toronto NewsFor Kids' Sake:

Ex-Police Officer Heads Alliance to
Combat Child Exploitation

The internet's dark side holds a lot of young victims. But the criminals who abuse them in that shadowy online world now face the force of KINSA. The Kids' Internet Safety Alliance is a proactive and aggressive response of technology, training, and education to the problem of child exploitation worldwide.

Paul Gillespie, a former police officer who founded KINSA with IT-industry giant Bill Hutchinson in 2004, says, "Our job is to identify and rescue kids, and help them heal. The good side of technology is that it now allows us to quantify the problem and to look at crime scene photos online."

In 2003, when Paul was working frontline on the Toronto Police Service's Child Exploitation Section, he contacted Microsoft founder Bill Gates: "Can you help?" The result, with $15 million worth of Microsoft technology and experts and help from 100 law enforcement officials from around the world, was the Child Exploitation Tracking System, CETS.

This intelligence database allows law enforcement agencies to globally work together on child exploitation issues. It's considered the most advanced investigative tool available.

CETS is used by over 40 different agencies in Canada and in Indonesia, Italy, The United Kingdom, Brazil, Chile, Spain, Poland, Romania, and Australia. KINSA also partners with the RCMP to coordinate and deliver cyber training to officers from developing nations.

CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) techniques can help identify a photograph scene from flowers, a light socket, a couch covering, the badge on a child's school uniform. As of just over a month ago, 943 children had been identified out of approximately 50,000 on the internet.

"Helping even with a tiny piece of a major investigation can bring great satisfaction," says Paul. "And we all share in each other's success."

A team in Germany uses technology to "unswirl" a picture of a child abuse scene. Brazilian police are instrumental in the arrest of a New Brunswick man with up to 30 charges of child victims. "It would not have been solved had that officer in Brazil not come here for KINSA training, and to be given some of these new tools. That's very satisfying."

Paul has spoken about CETS in 24 countries. He has unlimited access to tech help worldwide, and to responsive leaders within Microsoft. "I hope more big business will see the success of the system, and how they can make a difference to help kids."

KINSA works with facilities like The Hospital for Sick Children in research and care for child exploitation and abuse. An offshoot association, MOM, Mothers Online Movement, helps raise funds and awareness.

Teaching how to use the internet in good and productive ways also is important. Paul does hundreds of community presentations, and KINSA offers Virtually Safe videos and "Surf Smart" principles. A cyber-safety comic book developed with Nelvana/Corus Entertainment Inc. using characters from animated YTV show Grossology has gone to almost 400,000 students.

"Trying to scare kids or tell them horror stories never works. They just need to be aware that if they're putting that much info out there in a public space, they might have a problem. Internet safety needs to be built into the curriculum."
Paul says it can be difficult to leave behind his child-exploitation investigative work at the end of the day. "But I'm very lucky to be able to continue in the area of work I'm passionate about. The need will always be there, and I'll be doing this for a long time."

People focus so much on the negative, so I'm putting up good news for a change. lol, though, the main issue is that it won't be too entertaining :P

Script Requests / [Request] Weapon System
October 07, 2009, 10:38:03 am
I'm currently using no scripts for my game. (I'm starting from scratch) And I'm using RMXP. It is a cracked version. Anyways, what I want is a system where the player themself doesn't level up, but their weapon/soul knight (I think it's applicable to both), levels up instead. BUT when they level up, it gains a very small boost in the stats but more importantly, it creates points that can be used to enfuse the weapon with more power. Similar to the weapon build-up system of Dark Cloud 2. But in my case, I'm infusing a spiritual ally, not a weapon. Though the concept can work for both. At the same time, I also need a system that can "spectrumize" items in the players inventory so that they can infuse those items.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZer6-4aXxY
^As a reference of what I want ._.

I think you have to rework some of the lines in RMXP's scripts so that way the character doesn't level up and the exp goes to a different class. And then you have to create the system itself afterwards O_O Though, I'm just a n00b ._.

I'm working on this myself but I haven't the slightest clue where to start. And it is rather complex for a first time script ._. If I can get help with this, that'd be great ^_^'

So, I decided I'm going to pursue programming along with psychiatry. In fact, I have always wanted to get into coding. However, whenever I attempt to try, I hit a nasty little roadblock. The main reason why I want to script is for self benefits. If there's something I need but it doesn't exist or I'm too lazy to look, I can make it myself. But here's the problem. There's already a great deal of scripts out there and so whenever I try to start, I realize it's already been made and all I'm really doing is wasting my time. And also, there isn't really anything in particular that I want to create. So I basically have no direction and no idea where to start. Help?

New Projects / Dead Rose
August 16, 2009, 10:24:31 pm
After having a complete change of heart, I've decided to COMPLETELY re-work this game. I've decided to rewrite the entire storyline, completely. As a result, all information regarding this game prior to this post is now invalid. However, I've decided to keep the game's name "Dead Rose".

^Temporary Title Screen

It's the year 2007. In Kyuk, Ontario, a series of bizarre murders have occured. You play as a 17 year old high school student (whom you name) as bizarre incidents occur. One of the main character's close friends, Daniel Uy, disappear. Worried, the MC gathers his friends and searches throughout the city, looking for him. Checking an alleyway, the MC notices a trail of blood. Following it, he notices the corpse of his friend. The MC notices a figure running away. In a fit of rage, the MC chases after it. After cornering the figure, the MC is shocked to find that he was chasing after a ghost. The ghost confronts the MC, and is unphased by the MC's attacks. The MC is defeated but is unable to accept that he cannot avenge his friend's death. The MC summons a powerful ally, the soul knight, Azriel. Utilizing the soul knight's power, he defeats the ghost. Walking back to his dead friend, the MC is suddenly disturbed by a new sight. Looking past the alleyway and into the streets of Kyuk, he sees spirits walking amongst the living. A young female spirit notices him and approaches. She senses the MC's confusion and begins to pester him with questions.

"You seem confused. Did you just recently die?" She asks him.

Puzzled, he replies back, "Dead? I never died.. I'm still alive. What's going on?"

Taken aback, the girl is even more curious in the MC. She explains to him, the phenomenon of the spirit world and how it's parallel to the living world. She then explains that normal humans can't see spirits, let alone talk to them. But she then comments that the MC had a particular scent that drew her to him. In disbelief of what the girl said, the MC approaches a normal person. He attempts to touch them when he suddenly phases through them. Suddenly, the girl notices a sudden rift in the spirit world. She explains that rifts have been opening up through the spirit world and it's been making the spirits restless. She comments that there was a small rift in the alley the MC came from. The girl shows the MC the rift. Out of curiousity, the MC reaches out to touch the rift. Suddenly, there's a flash of light and the MC is unable to see spirits anymore. The MC's friends arrive shortly afterwards. They call the police and inform them that their friend was found dead. And then they later bring the MC back home where he is completely exhausted. Piecing together what has transpired, he suspects that the spirit world is related to the bizarre murders that have been occuring lately. Determined to prevent more deaths from happening, the MC begins his investigation!

Spoiler: ShowHide

A mysterious spirit girl. She's the first spirit to interact with the MC. She explains the phenomenon of the spirit world and acts as a sort of guide to the protagonists. She's treated as the "little sister" of the group and can be considered as a "mascot" character. Not much is known about her except that she is searching for the souls of her dead parents.

Another student at Kyuk public high school. He is the same age as the MC. He plays as a defensive lineman in the school's football team, the Frosthounds. Yes, there's a lot of 0%s. This is mostly due to me completely reworking this game into a different one. I'm finishing development of the story before I get into any actual hands-on work. Also, I'm finishing some of the aesthetic parts, such as battlers. After all the characters have been drawn, I will be looking into spriting tutorials to make my own sprites.

Programming / Scripting / Web / Server Host?
March 30, 2009, 09:42:59 pm
So, I'm not really good at this sort of stuff but I have a friend who has a forum but his server host is terrible and completely restricts him. So my question is, what's a good free host for his forum?

Welcome! / FAX no more D:
March 25, 2009, 08:44:26 pm
So.. I don't know if anyone actually knows this but I'm in a bit of a predicament and my time online is going to be cut short. It's not much of a difference since I'm never here anyways. I just felt like saying that I won't be on a lot. I don't know though, I might just choose to quit CP forever. I kinda just don't mix well with everyone here. And I doubt I'll actually finish the projects I wanted to do. Well, I got a couple days before things go awry. I'll think about it more until then.

Video Games / Valkyria Chronicles
January 03, 2009, 12:00:51 am
So, I've had this game for about a month now and I gotta say, I was pretty damn impressed with it. It's story was good apart from some cliches and moments that were easily predicted and ruined some of the experience, not a lot mind you. It's battle system was well done apart from a flawed AI that made the occasional nonsense move. It's graphics were.. Beautiful. It's characters were somewhat memorable. I felt quite angry when a certain character died :'(  Of course no game is perfect and as such this one had certain problems that really irritated me after awhile. The repetition of a character saying "Hmph" after defeating an oponent gets annoying really quickly. All in all, it was a really good game!

Anyone else play it? Any opinions? :D

Welcome! / FAX's Official Farewell
October 01, 2008, 07:50:11 pm
Hey guys! I forgot to say bye when I decided to leave and well I kind of felt guilty. So, anyways. I decided to play a joke and act as a new member on CP and for those who don't know who it was, it was ninjakyler. Now before those doubters come on and start accusing me as a fake, I'll ask the moderators to check my IP and my original FAX account to prove I'm the real guy.

But anywho, I'd just like to say bye to you guys :D I keep my reasons for leaving a secret still. But before I leave I'm going to spend another week on CP :)

:Edit:

I'm staying for ZTA only O.o I just love that game! Oh and RPs too :D And also.. BLAME POKOL FOR ME LEAVING :o and a couple other people whom I won't mention :P

May 09, 2008, 10:12:29 pm
Yeah like the title says. I'm taking four months off of CP. I'm really busy this month and June I really have to start taking a crack at those books with the exams. In July I won't be on b/c it's summer break and hell I ain't spending it on a forum... no offense or anything XD. And last but not least in August, I'm leaving to the Philipines for about a month. So the next couple months except July I propably will be too busy for CP.

Okay! This is my first troubleshooting topic. I didn't know where to post it... anyways!

My problem is that in the "devil bar" (a feature in the game that Valcos and me are working on) won't turn on after you turn it off if you hit stage 3. I can't seem to find the source of the problem  :'( But I'll post a demo of the event system  :-\ And btw if I find out anyone ripped this idea from me and Valcos I'll seperate your spine from your body  >:(

Ok the link is here!
