Resource Requests / Take these... make them work
October 18, 2013, 07:52:52 am
File: Zip
Files Located Within: 20 PNGs
Genre: Creepypasta

Objective: I'm too lazy to edit it myself, so why don't you do it for me.
Objective Situation: 3rd row or column or whatever needs removed or combined with first column/row.

Basically, make all of these photos work for RPG Maker VX Ace; so that they have the full up, down, left, right animation.

http://temp-share.com/show/YgFb9447y

(Link will be active only for maybe 1 hour)

[While you are doing that, I'll try to edit it myself and probably mess something up]

UPDATE: I'm an idiot, it now seems to work just fine by removing the first column/row (the one that goes up and down); then using lunapic.com and autocropping.

UPDATE #2: Nevermind, how they're moonwalking and not walking normally. Okay, someone fix this for me; for some reason right is left and left is right for them.

UPDATE #3: Okay, fixed it. Cut first row/column, mirror, autocrop. Duh! -.- Sorry for asking for help, I guess maybe I'm just being a lazy tard.

My laziness is getting the best of me... XD

Oh well, I shall continue this tomorrow; it's 10:27PM where I'm at right now and all this thinking is making me sleepy.

In case the other link doesn't work:

So, like... how do I make the sprites appear normally so I can proceed with using them and designing my game?

I don't really know the rules for vx or vxa, but for XP just set the charset up in 4x4 rows.
Width/4 = the width of each sprite in the set
Height/4 = the height of each sprite in the set

Yeah, uhm... da f***?

A better explanation would be nice... like, from what you see in those sprite sheets; what seems to be the issue, cause every time I use the sprite sheets at all (full standard 384x256 and then 96x128; either I get half a sprite, or two halves of two different sprites.

Like basically, let me show you...

Here is the 3 sprite sheets I managed to resize or whatever... and like, I am just lost.

How do I make it so that the characters are actually animated sprites... since they are full sprite sheets and everything, but I can't seem to get it to show up correctly (yet they do animate even when they show up incorrectly).

Troubleshooting / Help / Sprite Sheets?
October 18, 2013, 12:35:55 am
Question... say you find a sprite sheet online (and obviously whoever created it didn't do it correctly 100% ya know), how do you use this sprite sheet for RPG Maker VX Ace or really RPG Maker in general?

Like, am I supposed to resize it to 96x128 or 384x256? Or like... what the heck do I do to make the sprites USABLE...?

Cause like, it is a full sheet and everything; the sprites are set up to look and match the movement of the game setup... but it seems the program doesn't read the images like it would read the game's character creation images.

So... like, uhm... help please?

Let me give you an example of a sprite sheet I plan on using and then you can tell me what I may need to do...

(both are the same thing, just viewed differently)

So, like... how do I make it work; what changes need to be made to make it so the program reads it as a USABLE sprite?

Mostly, I just want to know the size requirements for custom:

-Title Screen background
-Battle Background
-Sprites & Faces

So yeah... cause every time I find a custom made sprite online, it doesn't fit the box so it cuts off the sprite and looks weird.

Look, I'm not a "talented" human being; I know jack snot about programming or editing or really anything that takes some serious brain power. But all and all, I do have a neverending imagination with hundreds upon thousands of ideas swarming around to the point that brain damage could happen at any moment.

That being said, I just need some quick "insight" or "preview" of these ideas:

-Use RPGmaker to make a Platformer?
-What are the requirements for adding your own music, sprites, etc? (sizes, file types, etc)

Currently, I'm using RPG Maker VX Ace (RMVXA?) and I'm having minor challenges when it comes to designing a game. More or less, I have a few ideas lurking around; but then I am also curious if you can do these kind of things... such as:

-Use a normal photo as a map (instead of tiles)?

Like for example... say I wanted to make an RPG about the internet or something. Make it so that people can literally walk their character along a webpage set as the map instead of tiles.

Overall, I just need to know what exactly can I and can't I do with RPGmaker.

Like, I know there is a lot I can do... but what exactly CAN'T I do?

Can I make a racing game? (obviously not 3D)
Can I make a card game like Yugioh or Magic?

Like... what is the heads up on this; cause I am kind of attempting to splash out my ideas into one giant game of absolute WTF moments.

New Projects / The Matrix [RPGmaker Version]
October 17, 2013, 07:16:02 pm
Clearly many movies haven't been turned into amazing games, movies such as "Spirited Away", "The Fast & The Furious", "9", and a few others that I can randomly name off of my head.

But overall, I am in the process of ATTEMPTING to turn the movie "The Matrix", "The Matrix: Reloaded", & "The Matrix: Revolutions" into one full game package for the world to enjoy.

Now, here's where I am going to be having troubles...

I can't exactly find any decent tile sets to use for FUTURISTIC layout... pretty much, there won't be any "Maps"... and it will just be an endless set of movement from location to location. The only time a map will be initiated is when it comes to a part in the movie where say... the Nebuchanezzer (or whatever it is called) goes from Zion to roaming around, and so on and so forth.

Now, although I cannot exactly add "robotic situations" such as those pain in the neck robots that shoot the lasers and whatnot; but I will mostly design it around playing as Neo (nobody else).

At the moment, I am in the process of being well... lost in my work and currently unsure how to start it. If anything, I will probably start it like I would start the movie; although I am not fully sure yet, I am currently deciding upon a title screen, basic text layout and some other things.

No clue when this will get done... not sure if I want it to be a short game with mostly just battling non-stop and minimal events; or if I want it to be mostly a movie turned into an RPG with more events and less battling.

But, also... if anyone would like to help out (or possibly pursue this project with me), then feel free to do so. I'm not asking for help, but it would be nice to see what more than one person can accomplish.

Program Used: RPG Maker VX Ace
RTP: Standard
Custom Photos/Sprites: Maybe, I dunno... probably I'll just use the Character Generator for sprites and custom photos for faces.
Custom Soundtrack: Not sure if I want to use the MATRIX soundtrack or something else.

[W.I.P. - Minimal achieved at this time]

General Discussion / I am amazed to know...
October 17, 2013, 09:22:57 am
That not one single person has managed to make Minecraft fully PORTABLE. Now, what I mean by this is not that the program runs from the flash drive itself... but that EVERYTHING runs from the flash drive.

Look, I know that all the information goes to the %appdata% folder; but also remember this, some of us play Minecraft at a library or on a friend's computer (that has parental blocks) and we can simply access %appdata% nor use batch folders.

So, I have a challenge or well... "request" for any of you.

Make Minecraft COMPLETELY portable... and not completely as it java as well, but make it so everything is ran and saved onto the flash drive. That way even someone like me can play it... cause all the computers I can access have the %appdata% folder blocked or have some kind of parental block of some sort to ruin the "continuation" of previous gameplay.

So yeah, try and take Minecraft-SP/MinecraftSP, MineShafter, or any other ALTERNATIVE Minecraft program (since I can't pay for the real deal) and make it portable to the point I can access the ".minecraft" folder from my flash drive and not from the "C" drive.

It's not that hard to do. And it doesn't take a talented scripter or programmer to do it. I'll do it after work today, all it requires is an empty operating system (just makes things easier) and vmware thinapp.

Thanks a million Gameus, its good to know that there is someone out there willing to help. I have already been to about 10 different programming websites and such... so far, you're the first person who was like "Yeah, I can do that for you."

Every other person pretty much told me (in different words of course), "Nope, you can eat **** and die."

Dear users and members of chaos-project,

I have already noticed that ForeverZer0 created VX & XP to be portable, but sadly; I also do not have MONEY to buy the full deal nor do I enjoy playing the trial versions.

This being said, can anyone do the exact same thing ForeverZer0 did and turn RPGmaker VX Ace LITE into a portable program as well. I do understand that this program is FREE and has limits, but it is actually easier for me to use and design games with.

http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/download/free-programs/rpg-maker-vx-ace-lite

So, if any of you scripters and C++ editors are as talented as ForeverZer0, I would highly appreciate this being done. I know it is probably a lot to ask, but seriously; not all of us have the money to buy the full program and not all of us really want to take the time and effort getting an ILLEGAL program to get what we want.

Secondly, not all of us can INSTALL programs onto a computer; simply because not all of us have a computer of our own. All the work I do is from the library and from my college, so I would appreciate having this made PORTABLE.
