Welcome! / Re: Messages to WhiteRose AKA Ashley
December 08, 2011, 06:36:32 am
Hey WhiteRose! Merry Christmas :)
I'm back more or less, but mainly to keep track of ARC's progress. I'm more of a lurker these days.

EDIT: Ashley's friend, thank you for relaying the messages! :D

I accidentally set the windowskin as a wallpaper in IrfanView and it seemed interesting, so I never bothered to change it >_>

Dave woke up to a nightmare involving drowning in an acidic swamp. Once he settled down, he realized the source of his distress: the itchy and damp covers of the inn bed.
"So much for that good night's sleep" he thought, getting out of bed. Still in his pajamas, he went out to get some fresh air.

Hehe, a hill-side town and the story starts at an inn. Reminds me of Mount Mirage :)

Welcome! / Re: Need some time...

G_G...
Just tell yourself that all problems are passing clouds, as are everything in life. Even if you can't deal with your problems head on, tell yourself that time will fix things, at least to some degree. I know what you mean when you said:
QuoteI'm tired of whats going on and wish I could get away from it. But that's not gonna happen. I realize I need to stop moping about it and get off my lazy ass and just face it all, regardless of the amount of trouble it may cause me.

Believe me, I know exactly what you mean. It can be hard sometimes to be strong. We all have our weak moments, but you have to believe that in time you will have the strength to deal with your problems. Just hang in there, and everything is going to be alright, tomorrow if not today. The day after if not tomorrow, but things WILL get better.

I wish there was something I could do to help more than just give you cliched advices, but I sat the above from the bottom of my heart. If there is anything I can do, just let me know. Through PM if you don't want to speak in public. Anything at all.

Good luck Ronnie. I will see you in better spirits at a later date whenever that might be :)

Most of us can't even tap 50 % of Photoshop's potential. I would use Paint.NET if only it had a more comfortable interface. I should try it again, see if I can get a taste for it.

Resized to 50% and 75% original size:

There's still pixelation but reducing pixel art tends to cause that. It's the best I can do.

Yay, split topic!
I think casual gamers are impatient by nature. They want something to engage their secondary state of mind rather than actually involving themselves completely in a game. For example, a friend of mine (who is incidentally my best bud) explained this to me when I tried to introduce him to RPGs. He said he was not really into RPGs, but he appreciated the mechanics of the game and more importantly he acknowledged how he could see me liking the genre. He said that he was not looking for that level of involvement in a game, and maybe someday, he might feel like playing one.
Now that's very nice, right?

Even I have a craving for a basic level of involvement in games. There are days that I don't feel like playing something like an RPG. I just want to mash some buttons. I usually play N while watching stuff. I do it all the time too, so I understand the need for "mindless" gaming. But some people are not polite about it. I guess it comes down to a basic code of conduct. Laughing at something I like and they don't understand: I don't like that >.<

Good that you're motivated, but make sure to keep the fire going. I suffer from a lack of motivation too. If I think about it, I think I'm waiting for someone to motivate me out of my lethargic view on life and external locus of control. I often have these very short-lived bursts of inspiration and then suddenly, they are gone. Make sure it doesn't happen to you!

And things like this are a matter of safety. You shouldn't even have any doubts remaining.

Yup. By the third season, it starts to get repetitive. They're airing season 5 right now.

Quote from: BlizzardCasual gamers are basically idiots. And I don't even mean that in a bad way.

They are honestly just plain stupid, aren't they? Tell me about it. I remember years ago when I showed my friend Chaos Project Final Demo. He didn't even have an idea of what was going on, basically had no idea of what an RPG was. I thought the battle scene will be sure to impress him, so I showed him. He asked me: What? Where is the battle?" I said: "You see, you get turns. This is how you select your commands, and when you're done, damage is dealt, like so." He literally burst out laughing. "You call this battle? I was expecting something like Mortal Kombat."
Then there was this other guy. I showed him Chrono Trigger and he said: "So what, those little dolls are people? Seriously man, how can you play something like this? It doesn't make sense".
Then there was one more guy. He apparently completed both the Mass Effect games, but when I asked what alignment he had chosen, Paragon or Renegade, he was like "Um, what?"
The list goes on and on >_<

EDIT: They aren't necessarily stupid. I was letting out some steam, sorry about that :^_^':

Note: This topic was split off another one.

So we'll get to see the particle engine in action. Cool!
You know what I like best about Cateia's games? The premise and the story. I liked the characters in Captain Brawe and I like the setting for Red Crow Mysteries. A competition in the underworld for who rules the Earth after doomsday. Just wonderful!

Thanks :) Will play it.
The game reminds me a little of Mystery Case Files: Huntsville, which I used to play years ago.
