Hey, I joined this site a while back, not sure how long ago, and well, I got completely derailed. Completely. So I forgot about RPG Maker, Chaos Project, and all that. I don't know how much I'm "back" but it's not like I had time to get settled in the community when I joined anyway so I'm definitely still a newbie. Haha. I had to do a quick search through the topics to find my username since I had forgotten it too! ^^;

Jeez, whatever the case, I'll uh... be around now I guess. Hello and all that.

Sure, more details are nice. The more I have to work with the better results you'll get from me.
Also, did none of those names I put out suffice? It's fine if they don't fit what you were looking for, but I want to know if I was on the right track at all.

I might have some suggestions.
Some things to note on how many elements get their names in real life is that they are usually root words which emphasize the properties of the element such as whether it is toxic, shines, burns, stinks, its texture, color, etc. Otherwise they are usually named the last name of the person who discovered it or even partly by where it was discovered. Also different cultures and people will have other names.

It might also be good to have more than one name for this substance. One for when it is a pure element, one for its mythril compound, and one for its spice form. This gives more diversity and makes its forms more specific. You could also have names for the dragon byproduct, the sentient vein structures, and even the built-up "poison" it becomes to make Anathema (anathema is a good name by the way.)

Considering the element came from space some good names could be:
Vivastron (vI-vast-ron) - something I came up with. In a sense would mean "star of life" combined roots of vivere "life" (Latin) and aster "star" (Greek).
Bioastron (bI-O-ast-ron) - same meaning as Vivastron but both roots are Greek. Bios - "life"

Also:
Arguron (ar-goor-on) - Simply the Greek word for silver. Means "to shine white". It might be a good name for the mythril alloy.
Kokaxion (kO-kacks-E-on) - something I came up with. In a sense it means "grain of worth" in Greek. This could be used for the spice form of the element.
Seirion (sE-ir-E-on) - literally means "scorching" in Greek. This could apply for when dragons make the element should it have anything to do with their fire-breathing processes.

If it is a certain color in any of these forms that could also affect the name. Same if it changes appearance (shape/texture/hardness).
I'll come up with some more if needed.

This is very helpful for the basics and I admit I did not know that images for RMXP were composed of 4x4 pixel tiles.
Unfortunately, many of the images have lost their links so it is not as useful as it should be. Please update it so that it will be complete again. Thank you in advance!
I do see that this was made in 2008 so... if Phasedscar is not around much anymore sorry for the necropost.

Also... on a side note. The color violate is my favorite color. Can't get much better than violate!

@Blizzard: Well, I read the basic requirements of the New Project section, and I have all but the screenshots, and that will be a long time in coming since I will be drawing the majority of the game from scratch. So until I make at least one screenshot I will keep adding to the concept here.

System Aspects:
I will be trying to have very detailed aspects of weapons, equipment, and items in Rise of the Ether Born that include...
Customizable weapons through events and items. Each character will start with or obtain at least one weapon which can be improved throughout the game in addition to normal weapons purchased at stores or found as loot.
Weapons will have their own classifications which will drastically change how much damage can be done to enemies.
Armor will have more than the function of defense. Some will raise stats or have their own effects.
I'll be using the Multi-slot Script by Guillaume so that more equipment can be used. There will be dual wielding characters.
There will be many rare items that can be used to change the tides of battle.
The Pets feature on BlizzABS will play a large role as there will be some animal characters present through most of the game, AKA familiars.

Battle:
This is a complicated part as I'd like to have a combination of elements. The monsters will be visible on the map, and the battle only starts after collision, but you can strike the monster beforehand to get a jump on it or even slow it down to dodge the encounter. When battle starts, there will be a battle background and the battle system will be an ABS such as BlizzABS or maybe the CrushD ABS, whatever ABS fits better. BlizzABS will definitely be used on the normal map though.

Anything else you can give me though like what direction you want it to take, some aspects of the world they live in, or a little bit more about the different groups? The more you give me the more I have to work with.
You can send me the details in a PM, and after knocking around ideas I'll send you the possible options. Since it is your story I'll just try to give you many options, and you go with the one you like the most or what fits best ok?


Also, I'm not incredibly busy so if there is anyone that still has not been helped or needs more inspiration for their story then PM the details to me and I'll see what I can do.

This is a very important dynamic to my game. It might be simple, but not simple enough for me to do it myself.
It would be nice to have this aspect within the script itself and not have to be put in an event every single time since there will be many occurences where the weapon class and monster class will be taken into account.

I need more on how to get this done.

Hello! It's the new guy, and I thought I'd join the Storyline Service since brainstorming story ideas and plot elements is one of my main strengths.

Here are some things I can help with:
Mythology is a great interest of mine and I am well versed Greek/Roman, Norse, Japanese, Egyptian, and European mythologies. I am also well-rounded in general folklore from many different regions and have some knowledge of Celtic lore.
I can come up with fantastical scenerios of many types, such as omens, prophecies, book stories within the game, or history, and I can create multi-faceted characters' background/biographies from scratch.
Need some lore for a specific weapon, armor, or item? I can come up with it. I'll be as detailed or concise as you like.
Need unique names for characters, weapons/armor, or creatures? I work well with Latin and Greek roots and can form a name which has a specific and story-related meaning.
My main genre focus is fantasy and urban fantasy, but I also work well with macabre / horror and sci-fi, especially alien cultures within the sci-fi genre.

Times: 1pm - 9pm Central Standard Time for Weekdays. As for weekends just check for me. I might be on.

Well as for showing the class, it could be listed in the description should it already be applied to the weapon, but it'd be nice to have it show up in its own section.

I am sure some of this could be done using events or just changing things in the database, but maybe not exactly the way I want it so let me explain.

I'd like to have certain weapons that have a specific class set to them that give them major advantages against specific enemies. The specific enemies also cannot be damaged much if at all without a weapon which has that class in its attributes. This is not just a simple "does more damage vs." type weapon either.

For example: A ninja is fighting a Giant class beast. The Giant cannot be damaged by normal weapons even if they have vs. giant or if the Giant happend to be a Fire Giant an Ice Element weapon would still do next to no damage (maybe one or two points more). The ninja has a Zanbato which has the Grand class which can actually do damage to Giant, Adult Dragon, and Golem class monsters. The ninja also has a God Piercer Naginata which has the Giant Slayer Class which does extra damage to Giants only, and average damage to Adult Dragon and Golem class monsters.

Should the ninja equip a Nodachi and fight the Giant, it would take next to no damage. Should he equip the Zanbato it would deal average damage. Should he equip the God Piercer Naginata then he would do 2 -3 times the normal damage to the Giant.

The second part of this would be adding the Weapon Class conditions to certain monsters.


So, can anyone help me? I did a serach to make sure this has not been done already, but if I passed over it then please forgive me.

Good points from all three of you. I'll try to keep those things in mind.
Actually, having a NPC or two was the one thing I was thinking of doing.
Specifically, I'd like to have Neko and Niccolo, from Secret of Mana and Legend of Mana respectively, to show up now and again to sell the main character some items. I am only considering this though, and might not implement it.
Even if they did show up, there will be many other merchants so they will not take the spotlight or anything.
