Chat / New Foods!
August 17, 2013, 07:04:31 pm
Blizz or someone, you should sticky this!

Alright, so I deem this to be the official thread to post new foods that you make and want to share with everyone! Be as specific as you can, but obviously don't go overboard with the details.

The reason I started this, was due to this post earlier today:

Sea of Code / [Request] Client Updater
August 09, 2013, 11:27:42 pm
So, I just spent almost an hour on Bing/Google looking for information on how to code up a game client updater, and I came up with nadda. Does anyone know how to do this? I know Gameus made one a while back, and what I want is almost identical to this: The thread about Remexos Launcher and Updater

Thoughts, information, et cetera?

Stumbled across this site and thought it might be useful to post for you guys. They have sound effects you can purchase, though the free sounds they have are decent enough.

Advertising / Need some Advert help.
June 13, 2012, 12:22:00 am
So, it has dawned on me that I have one of the largest advertising bases possible right here. I need help advertising, well, me and my web services, making websites for people, pretty cheap, but of superb quality. If anyone can help, please lemme know!
35
Does anyone know of either:

1. A game gallery, probably in flash, that will integrate with SMF 2.0.x
-or-
2. A standalone gallery of the same type, that needs no specific platform to run with, that I can manually place on a site?

I am not a flash developer, so I am not even going to attempt to try my hand at flash game development, at least not yet. I have a few websites that I'm working on, and, it would appear that one of them needs a decent game system..

Electronic and Computer Section / Win8 - Anyone?
June 03, 2012, 11:21:28 am
I have been using Windows 8 for about 3 months now, and I've seen it go through a lot of progress. Specifically I use the 32-bit version, because there's still issues using a 32-bit program on a 64-bit OS, though that seems to be worked out a little. The apps are very cool, and this newest release, which I think they're calling a release preview, instead of the usual 'release candidate', is stable, useful, and most of all, simply works. Originally I was stuck with a 1024x768 resolution, because my driver didn't work with anythi0ng past win vista (damn dell support still doesn't have a workaround), but now it has a 1280x800 resolution support built right in, no driver installation required...

Advertising / LaT - Reborn
June 03, 2012, 11:04:34 am
As many of you remember, we had a half-hearted attempt at a decent web forum and site, called Laptops And Tea. Well, it crumbled a little bit, so, I decided; hmm... needs some work. I then took it upon myself to register the domain, and get something productive and attractive on it. It has been reborn as www.laptopsandtea.com and looks splendid now. We seem to have gone in an opposite direction from Decisive Media, where they went to WordPress, we went to flash and SMF installations, with apps being started for it as well.

Hope to see people there, and no, before anyone asks, I didn't log on here simply to post just this. Just wanted to update you on it, and offer our services, because you guys have been a great community to be part of, and I want to give back in one of the ways I can.

Express your Creativity / Friends OnLine
February 16, 2012, 10:20:23 am
So, if anyone is interested, this is what I've been working on lately. It's a new social network, geared towards groups interaction in addition to individuals interactions with each other. It has most of the standard features of facebook, though it is still a work in progress. Like chat. When I tried to add that in, it almost destroyed the whole site, so I'll wait on that haha.. I'm not trying to completely nullify facebook or anything, but this does seem to be a pretty big thing. I'm inviting all of you here as the second round of testers. First round of public testers. Let me know what you think, and really, try to break the system. I want to know what parts will bend, and what should be fixed before it becomes a problem..

Advertising / TDR - The Digital Realm
September 12, 2011, 01:00:20 pm
Alright, so, you should all take a look at it, join it, etc. This will be a medium between the million web forums that we are all a part of. Quick explanation is that this site will function as a forum, however, it's true aim is to be dedicated to being a grand central station of web links and references. An internet resource library if you will. Links will go to other forums (Chaos Project and Decisive Media have already been added), but will not stop there. I plan to have links for resources, chat rooms, discussion groups, facebook groups, google circles, etc. Thoughts, Ideas, etc can all be submitted on the site too, so, feel free to make suggestions and what not. I think this will be a good resource for everyone to use.

The Digital Realm

EDIT: For this to work, I need more people to join and contribute.

I would like to suggest a subforum for game and movie reviews in the entertainment board.. It seemed like a hit on my forum (before it was wiped off the face of freesmf.net damn jerks...) and I think it would be kinda cool to see what people think about diff movies / games..
43
Just a thought.. I know probably even less people watch FMA than those that knew about F-Zero week... But hey, thought it was worth a suggestion...

Advertising / Soul Shards
May 28, 2011, 10:56:25 am
SoulShards is another Game forum, but it's geared towards players, instead of developers, and the main goal is to eventually band together to be the first large scale, multi-genre, cross-platform gamer clan / guild / group / whatever.. It's run by me, so, you can be assured it's awesome  :haha:

We also have movie reviews, game reviews, general chatter, forum games, and other distractions. Check it out if you'd like  :)

General Discussion / Menu Creation
May 24, 2011, 10:23:12 am
Okay, so, another reason T.E.P. is somewhat on hold, is that I'm developing another game on the side, and, it's much more "sellable". It's Project ZA: Rising Death. But, what I'm mostly looking for, is, does anyone know a decent program that lets you deign a title menu, using just point and click? I need it for a presentation, and, I reeeeaaallllyyy don't feel like coding out the menu by hand
46
Okay, as the title implies, I'm fed up with my laptop... The screen's power inverter keeps crapping out on me, at random times, usually while working on the project (hence why the game data got corrupted several times, and I had to restart.. I now keep backups that I refresh / re-copy every hour or so lolz...). Now, it seems to work with the fix I used, which is gorilla glue holding it to the screen mount, and a screw wedged between the inverter and the screens' bottom edge, creating a small amount of pressure..

The question is as follows.. Does anyone know a place to get a replacement inverter, reeeaallly cheap? It's a 6 year old dell, and I don't feel like paying to resurrect a computer that I'll probably be replacing in a few months :P

So, I have been on this site for quite some time, and wanted to share some thoughts about it. I personally like the site quite a bit, and have found myself on this forum just as much as I'm on my own  :^_^': which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The fact that SMF is used for the forum aspect is just plain awesome, because my forum and 2 other sites I'm on, also use it, and it's sooooo easy to figure out how to do things.. Well, MOST things at least >.<   The only thing I would say you could do, is that when someone has a pretty serious project, with say 200 views minimum, and a certain number of replies, generating a bit of interest, you could give them their own child-board, and make them a moderator for just that 'board'? I know it would make it a little easier for me, the way I update things for my project and it's details >.> Just my two cents, that's all.

Well, I'm pretty sure just about everyone on this site knows what dropbox is, so I won't overkill it  :^_^':

anyways, for those will help me get some more space, here's My Link , which as with all others, gives me an extra 250 MB, etc..

Script Requests / [XP] Health and level
April 13, 2011, 08:27:19 pm
Okay, so I treid to do this using common events, but, I can't seem to figure it out, without the game freezing on me.. I just want the game to check if you leveld up, and if so, to refill your health and mana/majick/whatever. That's all. No fancy menus or ABS systems that incorporate it.. I might be able to find it in the Blizz-ABS, so I'll update if I solve it, but, I dunno yet... Thanks in advance :)

Electronic and Computer Section / Web Browsers
April 11, 2011, 04:10:28 pm
Okay, so I totally stole this from the shoutbox.... Everyone seems to have a favorite browser, and for different reasons... This thread IS NOT meant to turn into a full out war of browsers... Keep civil about it please  :P
52
So, I read through, and, the cheat system that's already been made is based on numbers instead of words. I've been tinkering with it, and I can't figure out how to accept a string of characters, and compare them against possible options. I'm actually not sure it it HAS to be an event, but, it's currently a common event, and, is tethered to an item activating it..
53
As most people on here know, I have my own forum, kinda like a sister site to CP, but there's a few things I need some advice about, and, I figured this may be a place to ask... I also use SMF software for the forums, but, I haven't been able to figure out certain things about it, like how CP has a main home page, and, a separate forums page? I have the main page option, but it brings you straight to the forums... Would it be wise to switch servers, and just use SMF as a separate installed extension, or, is there a way to manipulate the software? I'm using freesmf.net as my server atm.. Anyone have any thoughts, ideas, etc?

Video Games / Diablo 2-ish?

What features of Diablo 2 did people like? Also, What were some dislikes? There is a practical purpose to this survey, and I intend to use it as research for game-related usage :)

Electronic and Computer Section / Ubuntu users?
April 04, 2011, 10:44:35 am
So, does anyone on this forum use a Ubuntu platform? I personally use it as an alternative to my WinXP-BE install, and it serves well. It's also a really good way to see how easily you could port your games over to Linux-based systems. For those who are skeptical, it has a compatibility layer called WINE, although I can't remember what it stands for.. It allows you to take your windows .exe files, and run them on your Ubuntu system.

Welcome! / Greetings!
March 31, 2011, 12:53:52 pm
Hello to all! My name is Josh, but I go by Angel, or my screen-name, brandedsoul. There's actually a really odd story for both, but I digress. I stumbled on this site using Google to look for RPG Maker VX script help, looked the site through, and it seems kind of cool here.. Anyways, I also have my own gaming forum, but not quite the same as this one. it's all about unifying gaming clans, etc, so it's 99% multi-player based.. I'm also a game developer, and am using it as a place to post things about the game production process, thoughts and suggestions, etc. If anyone wishes to look into it, it's at http://soulshards.freesmf.net/

I'm currently developing an RPG, and, am completely open for suggestions.. In the meantime, I wouldn't mind just chatting with people whilst I take breaks here and there :)  Talk to you all soon!

Cheers!
