Looks very nice, MetalZelda, i like the layout of the town too.
Are the graphics all edited rips? I see somethings i never saw but i don't keep up with the LOZ games much.

Take my advice with a grain of salt, but i think Links duds look too bland, maybe increasing the lighting, or saturation on the greens would make him stand out some more.
Flags look cool, do they move in four frames or more?

Howdy! A screenshot to show that i'm still working on this.
I've yet to add a few more things like the water auto tile, rotting logs/trunks, bird nests, bushes, a hole for the ground (2 diff sizes), and possibly a tile for spots where you can jump off the cliff.
The small tree still needs a bit more work, and i already have a some other alternate tiles for the cliff face (not present here) which i need to make for the sides of the cliff too.
As you guys can see i also fixed up the main grass, not very repetitious by itself anymore, i did make an alternate grass tile (still one or two more.. i think) but i forgot to add that to the map.
Forgot, also been working on extra pieces for the tree, for clumping stuff together in some ways.

I've created a new original monster, a type of fish-toad creature that drags itself along the ground using it's hind legs.
Have it in mind to make it a healing monster with high defense, it will appear in the first zone along with the Brownie Goblins and Slimes (which i will also add something to).

Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know that i'm still about, it's not the best screenshot but more coming soon.

ah, ive also worked on an extra skin color, which you can see.

Thank you, right now the plan is to spice up the look of the monsters with different poses and variations, but i will definitely be adding many originals too.
Have it in mind to add some kind of Brownie Shaman as well  :naughty:

e
New and improved image added to top, received some advice on that raised arm.
e
Hat has been changed, now wears a dented metal helmet with a red angry face painted on the front.

As you guys know the first monster i began working on was a Brownie goblin, for a basic rmxp battle system, but later decided to work on a side view look.
I began working on this one last night, and i need some opinions on this monster so far.
The little things i see right now are that balled up fist which i will make a bit bigger (needs pinkie), because i like the idea of them having big hands, and that pinkie finger on the raised hand will be curved next time you see him.

There might be something else with proportions, but i can't tell yet.
Please let me know if you see something odd, i'd like to fix everything before i go into more colors and details, thanks.

e: Finding some things here, only adding this so no one wastes their time when its already been fixed ^^
Already started adding color and shade, noticed a few little things along the way like the slightly bigger heel on the leg moving forward, got rid of extra pixel line on upper back too.
Shortened arm (not forearm) swinging back a bit.

The smaller pixel use is actually something i like a lot, i think this will be great for little details like smaller bottles, quills, writing on the books and such, but thinking it over i may have gone a bit overboard on the tree.. I do love the 2x look so i will cut back ;)

I like that color for the grass, but it's a bit too dark, especially for the sides and corners of the cliff top, i will look into lowering the brightness and raising saturation a bit to get closer to that soft look without going too dark.

Yet to add those cliff corners :D, took a break by working on a battler, which i'm sketching out with pencil instead of the mouse, but i'm thinking of a side view system all of a sudden..

Really appreciate the tips, Wecoc, please keep it coming!
I will upload another screenshot very soon.

Think i found a happy medium, but i need to play a little more with the color.

For the moment i would love everyone's opinion, give me a list of the things you think could use changing, or an improvement.
Maybe a few ideas for the CMS and some window skins as well.
I have found a site for the MIDI files (though i have not tested them all) but in the future when there's more content and people can see it's a serious project, we will see about finding someone who can remake or jazz up the original music.

Ah, and an RMXP script for jumping, ..but it might be simple enough with events too (which i'm also terrible at), have to think of what else is needed here though..

The only reason i don't put out the templates is because the styles will not match up well.

Thought it might me nice to add some WIP images so you guys can see what i'm working on.
I will be spriting the monster for a side view BS, so i removed the last picture, until then take a look at the side frame for Benjamin  ;)

This is the final look of the front and side, with a better color.
And a look at the betta grass tile up there.

I would love to show you my first set of tilesets, if only i had saved them
Takes time but keep at it and you will see improvement soon enough, i began creating with RMXP but 2k3 sized sprites should be easier.

A screenshot to make up for all my jabbering  ;)
I still have to do a few things, such as make an alternate grass tile to break up the repetition, same for cliff face.
I have also decreased saturation on tree all around, thinking about doing the same for the character, at least a tad.
Ah, and i've recreated the chest, and enlarged the flowers.

They certainly help, but you don't need big graphics or characters with six frames or more to make a game feel alive, take Aria Fell (2k3 game) for example, that first town alone feels more alive than anything I've seen created in Rmvx or Xp yet.
It's more to do with atmosphere, story, and clever mapping, decent graphics can get the job done.

The Kaiser template is great, but yeah the bigger you get the more frames you need to add or the movement looks choppy,  you can fix that some by having the arms and legs not swing as far.

I'm the same, which is why i opted to use the smaller characters in the end.
It's a better way to go when working on your own, and believe me, it is easier to do this sort of thing with smaller character sets, especially spriting clothes and hair  ;)
It still takes time, but nowhere near as much as working with the standard size for RMXP or even RMVX sprites.

IMO this is how the RTP should have been worked on for ARC, there are many people that do not know how to sprite well, and the smaller templates/character sets would be more forgiving, easier and faster to fix mistakes.

Very nice of you, thanks.
The only reason i wont use it is because i prefer to work on these things from scratch :D

If you ever want to work in the same manner i am (or use RM2k3) than i'd be happy to let you guys use my character template, i only have to make the child, and a female body type is not necessary.

Bah, i forgot, there are many templates available for it anyway.. XD.

Thank you.
I think i will change the cliff look though, i want something more grey-ish (with a slight green tint), and this one might just be better suited for caverns since it looks more earthy.

I was looking through the ARC section and i really like your diagonal sand tiles.
But I don't see any new posts in there though, or did you and the others guys decide to keep it all secret?

Don't have much to show.. yet.
Have a cliff, the tree, some weeds,.. and some very tiny flowers  :^_^':

I also created standing frames for two of the heroes, they are Kaeli and Tristam.
By this time i've put in a bit more work on the tree and grass, though you could not see that in the thread title image very well before.
Since i'm working with the blown up spritework for XP i can also add some nice detail here and there, such as the very small flowers.
Also plan to add more pieces to the cliff, pieces that jut forward, cavern entrances and more.

Damn, I don't remember anything about that.., been a couple of years though lol
Maybe better to leave it in.., recently I came across a script for jumping that should work nicely, as long as there is a chance of actually falling and taking some sort of damage.

Well, back to work in a bit (sprite work that is), working on Level Forest at the moment.

Aha! I knew it was something fancy like that XD
I'm not a fantastic Spriter but I may be able to help with requests in the future, as long as it's original stuff, I'm dang sick of rmxp RTP and Frankensprites.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
