Title: Golden Ratio
Post by: winkio on January 09, 2016, 02:28:53 pm
I came across the tumblr post that was pretty interesting: http://1ucasvb.tumblr.com/post/55672229355/the-golden-ratio-ah-the-golden-ratio-no-other

There are plenty of good explanations in there, especially about why we see the golden ratio in nature.

That's pretty interesting. I always felt that φ being the golden ratio was kinda bullshit, but now I know why the number is actually useful.
That dot-mapping app is a nice touch. It's interesting to see how all irrational numbers actually can achieve a similarly uniform distribution in the later stages / outer parts, but only φ is actually equally distributed even in the center.
