That's a pretty good list lol.

Gee, you're making me blush... :shy:

From my experience with making a battle system, you should start by designing a few things beforehand. Let's start with the big picture:

  • Are battles turn-based, time-based or a bit of both?

  • What is the battle layout going to be like?

  • How many playable characters and enemies can battles contain at once?

  • Will the battle system be simple or more complex?

  • Will battles use some sort of gimmick? (like reaction commands / QTE's and the Judgement Ring system)

Then, let's go to numbers:

  • What stats are needed?

  • What are the maximum values?

  • How will the stats affect each other? (for example, enemy defence to hero strength during an attack)

  • What other variables affect the stats? (like equipment, buffs and elemental resistances)

  • What kinds of skills can playable characters and enemies use?

When I started actually making my CBS for RPG Maker 2003, I started it in this order:

1. Show HP and MP in the screen.
2. Set character stats.
3. Make algorithms.
4. Make enemy stats.
5. Make the battle menu.
6. Make abilities and their effects.
7. Add turns.
8. Add the possibility to win or lose.

As a final tip for the programming part... use a lot of objects.
For the love of Cthulhu, use as many objects as fucking possible. It will make your life a lot easier.

This is of course just something that worked for me. I'm definitely not on expert so there are probably better ways to make a battle system.

I want Boobs.

i wnat pinis in a pssy ;ooo

What I personally want to see in RPG Maker is using the engine to make something that wasn't thought to be possible. Custom systems or games other than RPG's are good examples.
As they say, a good chef can make gourmet food even from an old boot.

And looser... and looser... :naughty:

This topic raises at least three questions:

  • What do you mean with a white doc / outline? A prototype of the game? A breefing of the story?

  • What kind of a game are you really making? I don't want to take a pig in a poke.

  • What skills are you looking for in potential devs? RGSS skills? Art skills? Eventing skills? General design skills?

If you want people to take part in the game, you have to be a bit more specific.

Because double-posts are cool. even though I'm already the last poster the whole board, so...

The game now has a web build so it can now be played on the game page! Try it out! :3

I'm still hyped about the bill so I've been listening to this song all day long.
The video has an English translation so feel free to check it out.

It looks like pressing Enter during the screen with the Prince works only before the PRESS ENTER text appears. It worked fine in Unity but apparently it doesn't work in the complete build. ;___; Just press Enter before the text appears and you'll go to Level 1.
Also, on some computers you can't go anywhere from the credits. It's supposed to transfer you to the title screen when you press Enter there. On some computers it works and on some it doesn't.
It's also best to use the biggest resolution you can, otherwise the Prince scene might not register any button at all and the credits scene might cut a lot of the text off.

We are truly sorry for these bugs. There are even more bugs out there that were noticed only after the release.
Gotta catch 'em all! :3

Video Games / Indies VS PewDiePie
November 12, 2014, 03:27:10 am
Read all about it here.

Long story short, from 21 to 24 of November there will be a game jam (an event where you make a complete game in a short time) hosted by PewDiePie. There's 72h time to make the game and all its assets. You can use any engine (even *gasp* RPG Maker!) as long as all art and audio assets are made during this time period. When the time is up, the community will vote the best games and PewDiePie will play and record playing the top ten games and publish them on his YouTube channel.
There are no prices but the experience itself, which I can definitely say will be very beneficial to anyone who wants to make games. Oh, and if you get to the top, you'll get some very huge visibility. :D

So, anyone up here wanna join in on the fun?

I myself won't be participating as a member of this forum. Instead, I'll be participating as a student of my school. I'm gathering up a team from my friends here. :3
