Spacemen 3 - Repeater

I rarely post. But I just have to say something here. I want to get it off my chest, because it seems like I am not the only one feeling like this right now.

I am working on 2 projects right now that mean a lot to me as a person. I am working on a game in Unity and have my harsh noise project. I study Mixed Media, an art education that allows me to use any media I want, and leaves decision making and creativity to me. What I did was to integrate the 2 projects I am working on in this education. Basically, my artistic work right now is my noise project. Other than that I am thinking to work on my game next year, as part of my studio.

What I immediately realized this year, is that the importance of most theory classes and things that don't apply to my project just seemed to be useless. They were of no use to me, "so whatever". What I am struggling with right now is to succeed these classes. I have to re-do 5 of them, 2 of them being essays, 2 of them being study material. The last one seemed to plain bore me, so I am letting go of that one.

The struggle I have is that somewhere, something went wrong with my interest in these classes. Was it just me that started to set personal goals and interests? Or was I just unable to handle the freedom of not having to go to all the classes? I feel a great motivation to work on my projects and be involved in the world surrounding my projects, while the world around the other classes don't seem to appeal to me at all. I feel like the only thing that interests me are things that are useful for my projects or future projects. Integrating the projects in my education was something that helped a lot in this situation, but it did not seem to give me interest in the other classes.

I have never studied in my life, I never needed to. Now I am in a situation where I need to try really hard to study things I don't give a square shit about.

Hi

I recently started a Unity project. I never opened Unity before so this is all a first time for me.
My goal is to create a story-driven playthrough game that has barely no interaction, but confronts the player with multiple elements, such as story, memory loss, murder and the uncontrollable self. The game is located in a jungle, that seems to be entirely removed from civilization. The only facts that the player has for granted are his surroundings and writings on the rocks.

Here are some very early screenshots to give an idea of the location:
Screenshots: ShowHide

My plans are to make the game a visual and emotional experience, whereas the player is confronted by a situation that would be hard to get a hold of.

I have no knowledge of C# but want to make the ending of the game something very unique and overwhelming, with the use of audiovisual changes, ending the game by shutting down itself.

If you are interested in the project, feel free to reply or PM me!

Isn't that is because MIDI isn't a music file on it's own, but a kind of sequence. Right?

Exactly, MIDI is just "sheet music" that tells the system which notes to generate, there is no actual sound data. Its nice because it allows for extremely small file sizes compared to audio files, but is such a complete and utter pain in the ass to deal with. When creating programs that use various audio formats, you can more or less deal with them in the same ways, just making some exceptions for the specific type, but MIDI is a whole different animal, and has absolutely nothing in common with other common audio formats. I don't even worry about trying to maintain MIDI compatibility anymore, its just not worth the hassle.

Though I wish there were more formats that allowed multi-layer audio. Maybe there are formats, but I don't know about them. Someone should make a format where you have all he layers separately and can edit them separately in the most common audio software.

Doesn't work with MIDI, though.
As far as I know, that really isn't going to be possible, or at least within the scope, of this project. I don't know a way to get the duration of a MIDI file except to convert it to another format such as WAV and read it that way. Needless to say, that is not a simple task, and it would be a bigger project to do that than what I am currently doing. There are a very few third-party libraries out there that can do it, but I am not going to add any (rather large) dependencies just to accomplish it. As far as I know, they work as I already said and convert it to another format to read it, which is horrible inefficient.

Isn't that is because MIDI isn't a music file on it's own, but a kind of sequence. Right?

Once I finished the story and did some Digital Trips (minigames) I was bored of it and thought that it's a shame that they didn't put more effort in the actual open world play.

It was for swag purposes for me, it was windy.

EDIT: Wait, I never button my shirt. I want to show my beautiful T-shirts.

I love it. :D

@Praelium: That's exactly the type of wallpaper I like to use on my phone; I'm surprised that there aren't more out there like it. Yours seems really well done, especially considering you made it yourself!

I have not made the rainmeter overlays. So the entire center piece is not at all my creation. It is mainly "A-TECH", a rainmeter skin, that gives my clean desktop the look it has. The wallpaper itself is but the blue circles and the texture, with proper lighting. If you like those things, you should definately check out Rainmeter. They are often functional and animated.

Here is a picture of my desktop after "cleaning" and installing Rainmeter. The wallpaper itself is self-made, since there are no good wallpapers for these kinds of resolutions.

It would be awesome to have that much screen real estate! What video card are you using?

One standard clocked Radeon HD5850. All the monitors are VGA. It's part of my budget PC. I might post a topic about it once I cleaned my desk.

My desktop is a mess right now and I really need to clean it up. But here is print screen. Don't mind the messy folders and the random sound files, that's almost all school stuff.

Warning: I have a triple monitor setup using Eyefinity, so the resolution is huge compared to usual setups.
