I'm curious as to NOD32, but I can't find a free version on their site.  The programs in this list are all free, thus why they're in the list.

Event System Requests / Re: Little help...
February 17, 2008, 01:52:44 pm
Hmm, that seems a bit easier.

I'm honestly just getting into big events, since the furthest thing I've done up to now with CF is cutscenes with events.  The switch puzzle is just one of the many I need to learn to do right.  I need to figure this out soon though, because up to now, the most I've honestly put focus into on my game are maps, story, and finding character sprite/battlers/monsters, which has become a hell of a lot harder ever since Phanx went down.

What I mean is, like a few univeral variables.
One puzzle has to do with making a switch value equal a specific number, in this case it must be exactly 7.
Switch 1 on = +0
Switch 1 off = +1
Switch 2 on = +2
Switch 2 off = +3
Switch 3 on = +4
Switch 3 off = +5

To obtain this number, you'd just have to turn 1 on, 2 off, and 3 on.

The number itself is stored as a variable such as 003: UPV
After the puzzle is finished correctly, the variable is set back to zero and a switch is activated to prevent the puzzle from reactivating and keeping the switches from modifying the variable.

The next one has two doors.  This will use a random variable 1 or 0.  The random variable is stored in the UPV and the player chooses a door, the door will either open or attack the player, depending on if the number for that door is the variable (0 or 1).

I'm honestly asking this because up to now, Chaotic Fury has used NO variables.

My school is pretty liberal when it comes to what we can do on the computers.  We don't have individual logins, we can bring in CDs and Flashdrives and just use them, but they've got a few programs that screw us over...shit like DeepFreeze (Resets the computer to a pre-saved setup when the PC is restarted), and the server has "Websense" (More like Nosense) to block sites.  They also use Vision to selectively monitor our computers, take control of them, and even block our net (One of my friends has a teacher on probation because the teacher used Vision to steal and delete information from his flashdrive).  The computers are also unable to be put in Administrator mode (Through backdoors or anything).

Some teachers (The ones who actually have brains and have maintained individuality from the district borganism) have started speaking out against network limitations, mainly arguing over the fact that the internet is free domain and no one should be allowed to censor stuff as they see fit (Example:  Blocking porn = Okay, Blocking all videos = bad).  Hopefully the dumbfucks at the district will actually learn and they'll become a little less strict...I mean, I know science teachers who are pissed that we have to find/make new proxies just to get on Youtube.

Little advice:  Look through your school rules and see if there's anything regarding student petition.  If you wanna get a rule changed, that's how to go.

lol, it's gotta do with the fact that most of my school knows how to bypass filters via proxy, and a few of the others know how to actually crash the filter in the server.  It's hillarious sometimes, I got buddies who like to just cause the school's internet to go down for a while, just for kicks.

Yeah, I'm currently attempting to get my school district to go to using AVG under an education license, since it'd help computers speed up since we're currently using a symantec (Norton) anti-virus.

Resource Database / Re: HOLY SHIT! Blizzard, the SPRITER!

Aiden's battler is actually a character I've seen in Namco x Capcom, and I'm pretty sure she's from a game I have lying around somewhere.  I'll do some research and find out who she is, just so proper credit can be given.  ;D

EDIT:

LOL OMG, I found it. her name is Xiaomu, an original character made for Namco x Capcom.  She's actually a Kitsune, and she's over 700 years old.  The staff weapon is a cane-sword made in the shape of an ice-elemental staff.  Her partner character's name is Reiji, and I found you a picture.

Event System Requests / [RESOLVED] Little help...
February 15, 2008, 01:12:26 pm
Okay, I'm in need of some info because I want to put in some events into CF.

Here's what I need to do.  There's going to be tons of puzzles in the game, but I think it would be a little tedious to keep on creating new variables for every single puzzle, especially because I'm already going to have to clean up my switch database, to make it a little more manageable.  So I'm wondering, and asking the event writers first, would it be better to keep on recycling a variable, or should I just make separate variables for each puzzle event?

You just have to be careful about where you surf.
Be wary of what you download, like if a website you don't trust wants you to install an ActiveX control, or if a popup asks you to download something and you don't know exactly what it is.

It's amazing, because these days, Common Sense in computing is becoming an Oxymoron, but luckily there are people like me who can help out in instilling some knowledge on how to keep yourself safe on the net.

;D ;D

Usually viruses end up affecting your registry (This is more common to Spyware though) or  core system folders.

AVG wont delete anything crucial, like a kernel file.

@Calanitz
Glad I could help, I'm just sick of hearing people get ripped off by the big-name companies when there are better alternatives that don't cost a dime.

Downloading anti-virus programs isn't bad at all honestly.  The problem is that many people create false programs, or they'll take an existing anti-virus that has a good reputation and inject some malicious code into it, turning the program itself into a virus/malware/spyware. It's always a good idea to conduct your own research regarding different anti-virus programs before downloading anything, and you should exercise extreme caution regarding "Security Programs" that are advertised in popup messages (Whether they be Windows Popup Bubbles or popup windows on the internet).

A few simple rules regarding internet-advertised security programs:
1) Be extremely cautious of security programs advertised in banner ads and popups, as most of these will end up causing harm to your system.
2) If you're being charged to use the program, while the official site for the program says it's free, the version you are likely seeing is a scam.
3) If research regarding a program turns up positive (Program is legitimate), then only use download links supplied by the official company/company site.

Entertainment / Back in the day
February 14, 2008, 12:35:51 am
Okay, the other day I was searching around Youtube for random stuff, when something triggerred in my memory and I remembered the old days when I was a little kid and I watched "Power Rangers" all the time.  So, I looked up the original series and I was hit with a huge surprise, an episode of one of the newer seasons called "Once a Ranger".  Now, I'll always watch a Power Rangers episode if they bring back any of the MMPR rangers, so I watched it only to have one thing realized...IT WASN'T THE ACTUAL BLACK RANGER...what I mean is, it wasn't Zach, but it was Adam...*Feels ripped off*.  It was a good episode, but it wasn't exactly satisfying, as I was hoping I'd atleast get a glance at Tommy in his Green Ranger form (Last episode where Green Ranger was shown was a flashback episode of Dino Thunder where Tommy's in a coma and he has to fight Zeo Red, White Ranger, and Green Ranger in order to prove to himself that he's capable of being a hero), or maybe Jason as the Red Ranger (Last appearance of Tommy as the Red Ranger was a special edition episode of Wild Force called "Forever Red", an episode freaturing all the prior red rangers in combat, even the Alien Ranger).

...Well, that was quite a bit of nostalgic babbling...but still...what did all of you used to watch when you were younger?  What shows just stick there in your mind?

Script Troubleshooting / Re: Bestiary
February 14, 2008, 12:28:05 am
Okay, here's a quick question:
Is skill #84 your Analyze skill, and are you using the Advanced Analyzed script?

If you've already done that, I suggest you check the post regarding how to arrange Blizzard's scripts.

If those things don't fix your problem, just copy your SKILL.RXDATA and SCRIPT.RXDATA from the Data folder of your project, zip it, and send it to me in a PM and I'll try and find the exact problem.

Okay, it's fairly simple actually.

First...IF YOU HAVE NORTON ANTI-VIRUS/SPYWARE/FIREWALL, DUMP IT IMMEDIATELY!

Norton is an inferior program that overcharges its customers and supplies false positives in order to make you believe it's working to make you believe it's working.

Here are the 3 things you can to secure your computer, and it's all free.

1) AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
http://free.grisoft.com
AVG Anti-Virus comes from Grisoft with the belief that security comes first, not profit.  This program is free to home users, and is an excellent anti-virus program.
2) Spybot - Search and Destroy
http://www.spybot.com
Spybot - Search and Destroy is another example of a people-come-first program.  Support comes from people who donate to the program's development, and the program itself it fairly simple to use.  It comes with a Resident Shield against system information changes (TeaTimer) and an Internet guardian that blocks bad downloads and sites (SDHelper).
3) Zonelabs Firewall
www.zonelabs.com
Free to home users, Zonelab's Firewall (Formally Zone Alert Firewall) is a powerful firewall that offers great protection against outsider threats (Hackers).

Computer Security shouldn't cost you a dime, and it's so simple, a child could be taught to do this.

Okay, I wanna reveal a few things about CF.

Firstly, the game consists of 13 Chapters, no including bonus stuff or the prologue.

The demo will only contain about 3 to 5 of these chapters in its final version (The other chapters will be released in the final).

So far, I've almost finished out writing the event structure of the first chapter, which is called "Warrior".

I'm writing out the monster structure too, but I need to ask everyone a favor on this one...

SEND ME MONSTER IDEAS!

Here's the Monster Idea form, which I'll probably end up putting in the main post later:

Monster Name: (Because they all need a name (Some subject to change))
Monster Genus: (Beast, Bird, Demon, etc.)
Monster Difficulty: (Between 1 and 10)
Monster Battler: (I need a battler for any creatures submitted)
Brief information about monster: (Where it would be found, how often one would encounter it, would it travel with others of its own species, special abilities, status effects in battle, attack types, etc.)

i want to get random battles in as soon as possible, so it'd be greatly appreciated if anyone can get their creature ideas in quickly.

Ok,I need a sprite like
A Thief,like this one

I want that his cloak to be until down,I mean I don't want that his legs to see,I want his cloak to be black and I want that him to have a mask on his face !

~thanks :)

GAX72 Translation Service:
Okay, I need a a thieft sprite like this one
[Image]
What I need is for the cloak to be longer, as to make it so the legs are not visible and for the cloak itself to be black.  Also, I want a mask to be over the face.

[Just playing with a translation joke thing, but yeah, that's my guess of what they're saying]
Also, if you're going to have a mask on the face, wouldn't it be easier to have the cowl removed or have it visible as being down on the back of the cloak?

Yeah, doing this in RPG Maker would be much more trouble than it's worth.

If you wanna make something like this, I'd suggest using another engine, like Game Maker or DarkBasic.

Or, if you're feeling adventurous, why not make your own engine all together?

The beauty about the SSB engine is that it's not an easy thing to duplicate.  You have to take into consideration tons of factors, ranging from the combat to environmental kills (Flying into the screen, far off distance kills, under stage, etc).  If you want an SSB engine, you should probably try making it under another engine/your own engine, especially because RPG Maker probably couldn't handle a true setup like this.

I can go either way honestly, I'm really curious as to how the story is going to play out, and it'd be cool to see more of the game (Other than seeing some of the stuff from the old ass beta I got of Final Demo)
