This is for the Skill Separation System.

I just need something like in Chaos Project that will display the name of the skill-type or maybe a ring-menu.  After a selection is made, a menu just like the default skill menu pops up (once again, think Chaos Project) with the skills listed.

This is really just to help clean up the battle menus.

Yeah, so here's the deal...

I wanna make a pretty crazy project.  It shouldn't take too long to make, in fact I want it to be sorta short, but be decent.

So here's what I'm looking to do:
This project will be made in either RPG Maker XP or VX, depending on what everyone's comfortable with.

If we work with XP, then this will more than likely be a Blizz ABS project.

The game will be Mission Based, with split storylines and multiple endings (this is to be a fairly large factor of the game).

Those who are interested, just write in the following in this post:

Preferred Engine: VX or XP
Preferred Environment: DBS, ABS, RTAB, etc.


This is just to give those of us who are either having HORRIBLE writers blocks, too much spare time, or just wanna try something different.

Hopefully this project can be done, I wanna see if we can form a fully functional team as a community.  Not only as RPG Maker users, but as artists and such.

Script Requests / [REQUEST][XP]Dual Casting

I need a script that would allow for one to do Dual/Twin Casting.  For those unfamiliar with the system, I'll explain.

Let's take Palom and Porom from Final Fantasy IV.  Now, Palom (Black Mage if I remember correctly) has a battle menu that would look like this:

Attack
B. Magic
Twin Magic
Item

while Porom (White mage) would have this battle menu

Attack
W. Magic
Twin Magic
Item

The characters are capable of performing high level Twin Magic skills together, but doing so cancel's one of their turns, and each of them has a different list in their Twin Magic, with Palom's magic being Black magic while Porom's is White Magic.

So let's take a look at the inside of their Skill Windows, first we'll look at Palom's
Twin Flare
Twin Meteor

Here we have two really powerful Offensive Magic skills, Porom's would likely have Twin Life and Twin Heal.

Now, Palom's turn comes up first due to his position in the party (thinking DBS, FFIV used RTAB, but I've long since stopped using RTAB) and he chooses Twin Fliare.  After he chooses Twin Fliare, Porom will NOT be able to choose a skill this turn.

But, what if Palom chooses to attack while Porom chooses Twin Cure?  The Twin Spell takes priority, and therefore, Palom's attack will be nullified and Porom's Twin Spell will take effect.

Also, when one of these spells is used, BOTH characters must pay the MP cost, just to make things fair.

That's effectively what I need.  Also, what'd be helpful is to be able to group characters together (for other multicasting).  Also, if someone from the group is not present in the party or dead, then the Twin Cast menu should either be disabled or not appear.

That's pretty much it =3.

Yup yup, that's right (though not at this very second, I'm actually typing this from XP).

So far, I have to say Windows 7 is quite impressive.  I'm getting better load times than my XP, though this may be linked to the fact that my XP has likely been systematically raped a few times.  It looks very pretty and is well arranged.  My only issues so far are linked to me using the 64-bit version and my wireless card has no 64-bit drivers.  I'm gonna go upgrade the RAM on this thing some time in the next few days, so hopefully GAX will have a much better benchmark for you guys really soon.

My other major issue is that games that run with GameGuard will NOT work, this is an error with GameGuard and INCA refuses to fix this...lazy bastards.

Script Requests / Final Fantasy IV VX Script Requests

Note:  I haven't abandonned Final Fantasy IV XP, but that project is on hold until VX is completed due to the massive map alterations that need to occur for XP, so don't worry to those who have made FFIV scripts for XP, those wont be unused.

Greetings CP scripters, I have a little project for those interested in assisting me with this project.  I require quite a few scripts for my FFIV clone being done on VX.  Now, I realize that around here, there may not be very many RGSS2 Scripters, but I'm askin around anyways.

The scripts I figure I'll need are:
-Final Fantasy IV Modified RTAB compatible with Side-view Battlers
-Final Fantasy IV Custom Menu System for 5 person party
-Final Fantasy IV Custom Save/Load Menu
-Final Fantasy IV Custom Shop

Here are the basics needed for each:
Final Fantasy IV Modified RTAB
-Must follow original battle algorithms.  I have supplied a text document courtesy of GameFAQs to assist the work:
Final Fantasy Algorithm FAQ hosted at GameFAQs
-Must allow 5 Person MAXIMUM parties
-Must support Side-view battlers
-Final Fantasy Battle Formation NEEDED (3 Front Row battlers, 2 Back Row battlers with option to reverse)
-Must support special battle conditions (Surrounded, Ambushed, Preemptive Strike, Back Attack, etc.)

Final Fantasy IV Custom Menu System:
-Must include a slot for a Save Game option
-Must include a Formation option (Switch 3:2 ratio to 2:3)
-Display for Location
-Display for Planet (this could be changed through call scripts)
-MUST display 5 character in party
-An options menu would be nice.  If this is done, options to adjust the the volume of Battle Music, Field Music, and Sound Effects should be a minimum.  It would be nice if an option to adjust the color of the window skin would kick ass. =D

Final Fantasy IV Custom Save/Load menu
-Must display the side-view battlers of all 5 characters, along with game time and total money

Final Fantasy IV Custom Shop
-Refference a Final Fantasy Game from the NES, SNES, PSX, or GBA for layout

That's pretty much what I'll need.  I'll give pictures if requested, and there are some great rewards for those who decide to pitch in.

Rewards include the following:
-A character in the VX Developer's Room (Your choice of dialogue)
-A battle character in the VX Developer's Room (Your choice of battler)

Okay people, I'm gonna put this out there.

I'm pretty much online ALL DAY, but not on the forum.  I never turn off my AIM except when I'm out or asleep.

Yeah, thought I might aswell say I'm -kinda- back.  I'm not 100% back because of a few issues right now, mainly signing up for college, but I'll be through with that VERY soon.  Another reason I haven't been arround too much is PC issues, though don't worry, it shouldn't be long til I get my laptop and all will be well =3.

So yeah, GAX is back.  Btw, I'm allowing people to add my AIM name, GuardianAngelX72, just remember to tell me your forum name if I ask.

I don't use the MSN too much, but I'm almost ALWAYS on AIM, just a few requests though:

I wonder if I could get a smiley on a gravestone...I think it'd be funny for there to be a nice =3 or =^_^= at the end of something nice about someone, or maybe just a sideways :3 saying "I always fancied myself a feline."

Resource Requests / Holy SH** dungeon doors

I need pretty much a set of doors, but there's some requirements:
First, they can't be simple doors or a modification of the tombstone found in the swamp map, no, I mean I need really friggin awesome doors that you would likely find at a really sick dungeon.  Think like, skeletal dragons or something on each side of the door, their arms extended over the doors themselves.  I need this for a really big dungeon, so I'm likely to modify the height of whatever's given.

Pretty much a Gundam Simulator, and I'm looking for fresh victims/opponents (you remain a "victim" until you defeat me in combat).

Luckily, you don't need to be a japanese linguist to play it, the guys at Mirror Moon have provided and OFFICIALLY APPROVED translation of the free game.

Okay, so I don't know if anyone's heard of this program, but I found it a while back when I was searching on the net.  It's pretty much a game editor that lets you make games that look EXACTLY like the original Final Fantasy Tactics.  Now, this is a holy grail for tactical RPG lovers like myself, a game engine that is perfect for all kinds of projects.  So, I figured I'd ask the general public for some assistance.  I've looked on the net and only found one refference to the program having an english translation, the Tactical RPG Editor 2 which was translated by a guy calling himself Megaman.  If anyone has a copy of this, would you let me know?

After it's obtained, we could probably start a little discussion of the engine topic.

There are times I can't seem to connect to the site, there are also times when NO images appear, such as avatars, the banners, etc.

I think something's either bugged or the damn host has another M80 up its tailpipe.

the PNG Image thing was my fault actually, seems installing Tactical RPG Editor 3 caused my PNG files to cease functioning for the most part.  I ran system restore and it's all back to normal...but the lockout issues are still a pain.

Endurance Game Design Contest


Round 1 Status: Idle


Explanation
Simmilar to RMRK's Game in a Week contests, this project will allot X ammount of weeks for each designer to create a game.  Each contest will have specific requirements, such as using a specific database, list of characters, set of scripts, etc.

For a contest to be Active, there must be atleast 3 people participating.  Projects are NOT limitted to solo work, you may join in groups.

Games will be scored based on:
-Storyline Quality
-Utilization of Graphics
-Replay value
-Overall quality in regards to systems (more scripts =/= better game, it's how the scripts are used)

Rules will be given for each contest, so keep posted.

ROUND 1:  2 Weeks to Work
The first round project will allow 2 weeks for members to work on a project.  The game must feature a COMPLETE storyline, a minimum of 25 maps, and have a cast of atleast 2 heros and 3 villians.  The game must use the DEFAULT database for RPG maker, but people may make changes to character names, sprites, and what class they are using.  This first contest will not feature a resource limitation, and custom scripts are encouraged.

Requirements:
-10 Maps Minimum
-2 Heroes Minimum
-3 Villians Minimum
-10 Custom enemies MAXIMUM
-Use default database, no modifications allowed aside from graphical changes.
-Custom scripts encouraged
-Must have a complete storyline
-2 weeks to create game

Resource Requests / Tileset Recreation Assistance

Alright, I'm trying to rebuild a tileset so it will be USABLE for my game project, Chaotic Fury.  The tileset itself looks a lot like a rip, and is broken to the point where it is unusable (atleast without a lot of frustration.  The tileset lacks usable walls, and platforms.  I have already completed the Platform Ground Autotile (though in the final product this may become a simple platform piece, just requires walls.  If you are interested, just say so and help out.  Here's what I'm outlining that NEEDs to be done with this tileset.

The original images are from the game Alundra, and was ripped by Dubealex. 

-Basic ground tileset.  Dirt, gravel, or dead grass would be good, it's actually the one I'm working on.
-Rocky walls
-Dark Brick Walls
-Wood Floor
-Wood Top walls (Indoor)
-Wood Walls
-Water

I'm working on some parts, I'll post my modified version in a few days to show what I need help for, but if you have interests in rebuilding a tileset for the community (this will be readily available to the public upon completion), just leave your name here.  You will need a good image editting program, and experience would be a bonus.

Alright, I'm gonna add some "life" to this map of mine, but to do so I need some death.  So here's what I need:

I need rotten corpses, dead bodies so rotten you can't tell if it was male or female, though what'd be good is if you could also have the corpses dressed in torn clothing like that of maids and buttlers.  I also need blood splatters for walls and floors, and dismembered body parts.  What'd also help is some heads on pikes and other stuff.

In terms of the corpses, I'll need ones that are speared through the chest to hang from walls, and down-sprite style corpses laying vertically and horizontally to float in the water.

Believe me, this will make people shit bricks.

New Projects / Final Fantasy IV XP/VX

Okay, this is actually a project out of pure respect to the Final Fantasy series, this one to a game I feel shows the true beauty of the Final Fantasy series, a classic among classics, Final Fantasy IV.

What inspired me to do this?
Simply, I was going through my SNES cartridges and found my copy of FFIV (sold as FFII in the United States until its re-release and the release of the true FFII in the US).  This game not only inspired me to further my work in Chaotic Fury, but to begin this great new endeavor:  a remake of the old Final Fantasy IV.

The game will include maps remade to the very last pixel tile, although they will be graphically improved compared to the days of the SNES.  The game will use newly retooled and remixed music from various artists, furthering the tribute to a classic.  I will also retain the original battle system, the Active-Timed Battle System, otherwise known as the RTAB (Real Time Active Battle).  The game will be done using much more friendly and accurate translation (Although I shall retain the Spoony Bard line, no worries), and shall be a way of introducing a classic to newer generations who cannot afford the price tag of the Final Fantasy 20th Anniversary release of Final Fantasy IV for the DS.

I hope to have a demo prepared some time in the future, this project is a labor of respect and I refuse to release a demo out until it meets what is beyond acceptable.

Prepare yourselves, because if you haven't played FFIV yet, you will fall in love!

[I know I should be focussing on Chaotic Fury, but hell, this is a project that has sparked me!]

Okay, in all honesty I really need these.  ANYTHING Final Fantasy IV is helpful, here's pretty much what I am counting:

-Battle Music
-Battle Characters (Sideview AND DBS are both acceptable)
-Battle Backgrounds
-Character Statistic Sheets
-Monster Statistic Sheets (These I can likely obtain from FFWiki, but not character stats)
-Character Skill-trees
-Weapon Stat Sheets (FFWiki will probably help on this)
-Map Screenshots (GBA and SNES versions only)

Anyone who helps with this gets creditted in my project, you'll see it soon.  This is something to pass time and I can really use this stuff for multiple projects, and many others can probably use it too.

Okay, so Chaotic Fury is going through some amazing development at the moment, and will vastly surpass Rev2 (The current demo) in all ways.  So, I'm thinking of starting the beta testing recruitment a little early.

Beta Testing will commence following the completion of the Legend of Lexima IV - Chaos Project's beta testing.

Following the completion of Stage 4, I will consider allowing sign ups for Stage 5, which marks the beginning of the Final Product.  Stage 5 will include regular updates to selected individuals found helpful in the previous 4 stages, including the continuation of the story and that they will recieve a completed version of the game prior to release of the full version.

Signups will begin early, but I will close them when I feel there are enough people.

Type: Gameplay Enhancement



Introduction

Many people have played atleast one Dating Simulator game in their lives, so you should know how this works.  The affection system relies on variables for individual people in order to provide different outcomes in the game.  The higher the affection, the more a girl likes you.  This affection variable can be used for many things, from being items to events involving the two character that could be entering a contest, going on a date, or going to a love hotel and...nevermind.

This affection system is meant to help within RPGs to assist in adding somre more functions into the game, and can be especially useful in games where a character does not have an established love interest, but you want some form of romance in the game.


Features


  • Fairly simple system, but requires basic understanding of RPG Maker and variables.
  • Can be implemented in many ways to boost your games, not limitted to just friendships between characters, but could be used for Ally-Enemy system.
  • An interesting gameplay element, making the player decide carefully on their actions giving higher interactivity for the player.
  • You don't have to work with an SDK script ^^.

Instructions

Create a Sample Character.  Depending on what you're using the system for, choose the style of character.  In this case a girl using the 118-Civilian18 character set.  Since this character is going to be a Love Interest character, we'll use two variables for her, a Friendship Variable and a Love Variable.  The Love Variable comes in later, for now let's start with the Friendship Variable.   Make the following conditional branch.

By saying hi to the character, you've added the initial variable for the girl, so her friendship level would be "Introduced Self".  For this system, you can determine your own level values, but a simple one would be a 15 level system with a few ranks.


  • 0 = Stranger
  • 1 = Have Met
  • 2 = Familiar
  • 5 = New Friend
  • 10 = Good friend (Comfortable with accepting basic gifts)
  • 15 = Close Friend (Able to ask out on a date)


Now, as seen there's a point where it says Comfortable with Accepting Basic Gifts.  This would be just normal stuff, like food, accessories, etc., but nothing exravagant.  This will be explained in detail later.

Beach Monsters (Birds [tropical and large], various marine life)
Mountain (Ice) Monsters (Hairy stuff [I don't mean your mother in law], penguins, etc.)

Alright, I'll come out now and say I've payed great attention to the OdinMS Maplestory Private Server.  Recently, I went on their site to find the server was down and apparently they are being sued by Nexon, the game's host company.  Here's the thing though, the form doesn't look all that official to me, it could just be some group trying to get money under claims of being Nexon.

Here is a translation I did using Google Translator:

If anyone can translate German to english (through the original letter would probably be the best bet, as Google Translator I know is not exactly the best online translator but I was in a hurry to get this up, would you be able to tranlate the letter to make thinking over this letter a little more accurate, as I'm not 100% sure of the legitimacy of the letter itself, and that some group either wants the server gone or just wants a ton of money even though OdinMS runs completely on donations (non-profit).

Okay, I need some help setting up some stuff.

Here's pretty much what I'm working on right now.  I'm writing the Database for Chaotic Fury, and I need to know what would be propper stats for each level for the different ranks of weapons.

Like, let's say I have a weapon that in most cases, the player will be about level 1-10, what would be the appropriate attack power for said weapon.  I'm willing to supply a list of the different weapon classes if that'd help at all.

The next part would actually help me out in terms of creating monsters.  Same style as the above, but like, how would I setup a monster correctly?  I mean, let's say I have a humanoid enemy that's intended for level five players, and I also have a Large Beast that's intended for the same level and a flying beast as well.  Wouldn't it make sense that the flying one would have higher speed, the humanoid would be ballanced, and the large beast would be destructive?  If anyone can help out, it'd be great and save me a lot of time instead of doing hundreds of test battles to see if a monster is feasable.

Okay, this is becoming a long-standing pissoff.

For the past few months, many downloads have been failing (they're installers who don't work), also my antivirus acts up and breaks.  I have three theories to why this is happenning.
1 - Damaged Motherboard (Can't be the Hard Drive, just bought a 500GB SATA drive and a fresh copy of XP)
2 - Damaged Wireless Card:  I'll put it simple, this thing is fucking ancient, I've used it for 3 computers so far and I got it used from my buddy and his dad.
3 - Damaged Modem:  I connect through my neighbor's modem, no one else's, I don't use my dad's because I don't want to kill his connection AND I don't want him to be able to shut me down.

What do you think is most likely?  Any other ideas of what can be going on?

Alright, here's where I'm in a predicamine...
I help run an Anime Club at my school, and I wanna show Rebuild of Evangelion 1.01, but I need something...
I need a way to play a video with a subtitle file, but at the same time I need to be able to set it so specific parts of the movie wont be shown (curse censorship in schools).

Anyone know how I can do this?

Fairly simple...I'm getting f&*%ing sick of holding the increase arrow for hours on end to setup monster HP that's over 100000 and I just need something that I can type in the monster's ID and set its HP and MP according to that instead of wasting so much time boosting stats like that.

New Projects / Chaotic Fury - Berzerker Echos

Okay, I'm not going to give out too much info because I haven't even got the current demo up to the point where you meet the character this game revolves around, but I thought I'd share with you people about this project.

Chaotic Fury - BE is a prequel to CF that follows around a character who will be available in the next demo.  It just explains a bit of his background but doesn't give away too many spoilers as to his life.

The game will be done in 3D and is a side project that probably wont be done until after the RMXP version of CF is done.  It's going to use a combat engine simmilar to that of Final FantasyVII Crisis Core (minus the DMW) and will hopefully include some nice extras (Online multiplayer?).

More to come, but this is really more of a placeholder until after I get some background in making games from scratch (no RPG Maker).

Okay, this is something that's thrown a curveball in the past ten years or so.

Some employers have started running background checks by tracking an employee's Personal Site, such as their Myspace page, Facebook, etc.

Honestly, should this be legal anywhere?

Faults I see with this method are namely that someone could create a false page to tarnish the reputation of another.

Another thing to add would be some employers actually firing employees because they have a personal site such as a page on myspace or a facebook.  That should be illegal (workplace discrimination).

What's your thoughts on this?

Dunno where to put this, so I threw it in Chat stuff...

Okay, here's how it works.  It may look like a really bitchin 3D Side View Battle System, but in fact it's just a cheap yet pretty convincing trick.  The character battler is already present on the battle-background setup, being just a standing image on the background.  When you see the character battler fly across the screen, that's an animation effect which includes an image that stacks on top of the battler on the battle background.

Cool yet cheap at the same time...the Japanese never cease to amaze me.

RPG Maker Scripts / Mediator/Orator skill script

Just a random idea that popped into my head that could be useful in ABS and TBS systems.  Anyone who's played Final Fantasy Tactics is aware of the Mediator (Orator in War of the Lions) class, which has a unique skill to persuade a creature or non-boss enemy to join your party as a "guest" until the end of battle, where if the creature has survived, you are given the option to add them to your party.  Now, here's the thing, I know that making it so that they join your party is not an easy feat, but how about adding this little twist:  The creature that joins is added as a "pet", whos skills and stats can be augmented through NPCs, Items, etc., and the creature can even evolve.
