In light of the many discussions about awards, we are looking for a way to encourage everyone to express their enthusiasm without having to worry competition or activity limits. To facilitate this, I have decided to create Signature Emblems. These will be small template images that you can place in your signature to show off your recent or past accomplishments. The images are templates so that you can modify and personalize to the individual accomplishment, although we will have a few standard styles for each.
For example, one could look something like this:
You could draw whatever image you wanted in the black space in the center, and then put the name of something underneath. You could also change the color scheme or style of them emblem itself if you were feeling very creative.
Besides announcing this program, I would like to use this thread to gather suggestions and ideas about what you want the decals to be, and gather feedback as we create and revise them. We are looking at things from the 64x64 to 128x128 pixel ranges.
The current list:
- trophy
- medal
- shield or coat of arms
- star or shooting star
- plaque
- square or circular button, like in achievement systems
- scroll
- computer screen
- frame with rubies
- ribbon

Put over the corner of any template.
This is actually a pretty neat idea. As far as decal suggestions go, hmmmm. Maybe a plaque? More wide than tall. If I think of any other designs I'll definitely post them.
A scroll? Maybe a blank computer screen so that people can put a shrunken screenie on the screen to show off? Maybe some sort of a frame that fits with the forum design?
Good ideas. Whatever we do will have to match the forum design in some way, so that is a given.
What I meant was something like a ruby frame to go with the whole theme.
More suggestions: a ribbon.
Is this the sort of thing you were thinking with the frame?

Not quite, but that looks cool too.
What I was thinking of was basically having a red border with some sort of a gem/ruby texture going around the picture.
I don't have any idea how to do that with the small number of pixels we have. Can you find any examples that would work at low resolutions?
Also, came up with a slight modification that looks a lot more like this forum, and a lot better:

Really loving the redesign winkio. Nice job.
Nice. That looks pretty sick!
That's pretty much what I meant by the frame, just with borders on all sides. I'll try to work on some cool resources for this over christmas break. In other words, I'll draw simple shapes in gimp, and use filters to make them look good.
Edit: And really off topic, but I really like the new avatar, g_g.
Ah, I got it now.
Well, here is the small version. Since it is all done with vectors, I really just scaled everything except the text, and replaced the graphic in the center:

EDIT: I'll post the templates for these, just give me a minute.
EDIT2: I put them in the first post.
Awesome job winkio. ;) *levels up*
@Thallion: Thanks, Colonel Blinx made it for me.
EDIT: Just throwing out ideas, but maybe a trophy could be a decent idea as well?
So decent that it's at the top of the list on the first post.
I think that's already on the list. Anyways, he did a really good job: it looks amazing!
The flags I just made are my new favorite (in the first post).
I like where this is going 8)
I agree with the flags in terms of trying to advertise something. The other two remind me more of achievements/awards.
Just like me. :V *posts in this thread so everybody can see his signature*
This stuff is all so awesome that I'm gonna have to make one for my Window Message Mod after school today just to show off Winkio's awesomeness!

Nice. I just made some 'new', 'updated', and 'favorite' ribbons to put over the corner. I'm uploading them now, I'll put them in the first post.
EDIT: added another flag.
EDIT2: and another flag.
I love Gem Flag 3. <3
Thanks. That's the last flag I'm going to make, I'm going to try either a medal or a trophy next.
Awesome job winkio. Gem Flag 3 looks pretty sweet. :)
Agreed. I'm liking everything you're putting out.
But now I have to make a decision on what I like more...and I hate making decisions :\
Just put up a wreath design. I'm going to make two more versions, one where the wreath is all gray, and another where it is all red.
Very awesome job winkio! As soon as I figure out what I want to show off, I'll definitely use some of these. Probably the wreath designs.
After a 4 hour long battle with my parents' internet connection, the other versions of the wreath are up.

This is too much fun :D
@KK20 YOU KEEP REMOVING THE TRANSPARENT BACKGROUND! SAVE IN PNG FORM DAM YOU! I USE THE DARK THEME AND IT LOOKS UGLY!
:V:
lol i dunno wut i dooz
Only art program I ever needed to use is the built-in Paint. :P
.. this explain everything, get Gimp or Paint.Net bot are free, both are easy to use. If you have never use photoshop before get Paint.Net, it's closer to MS Paint and will be easyer for you to use
Yeah, I guess it's time I made the transition to a better art program. Went ahead and did a transparent spree~
Yay!
