X  Today at 09:42:21 PM winkio - False.  I claimed that "using mutation from radiation as a possible event" spreads stupidity, as it is a general misconception.  Nobody here is copying and adopting my grammar.
X Today at 09:41:05 PM Longfellow - You claim that making illogical jokes spreads stupidity. I claim that using horrible grammar spreads the use of horrible grammar.
X Today at 09:40:45 PM Subsonic_Noise - Well, you where actually talking to me, who actually made fun of precisely that, in case you forgot. And "statements that perpetuate stupidty" was not directed at "the society" at all, lol.
X Today at 09:39:08 PM winkio - no, I was directly implying a connection to racism: I take statements that perpetuate stupidty the same way as statements that perpetuate racism.  "The same way" is a pretty direct connection
X Today at 09:37:24 PM Subsonic_Noise - Also, I know you weren't directly implying a connection to racism - but you were, indirectly.
X Today at 09:36:23 PM winkio - See, you still think it's personal.  It had nothing to do with you.  It had to do with society at large using mutation from radiation as a possible event.
X Today at 09:35:21 PM Subsonic_Noise - I didn't take anything seriously, I was quite enjoying this, lol. People who at least have a moderate intelligence should have understood that was a joke, people who thought it was meant seriously already where stupid. :-P
X Today at 09:35:20 PM Aqua - GIANT WAVES MADE OF WATER PUTS OUT TINY SPARKS OF POTENTIAL FIRES :D
X Today at 09:34:58 PM winkio - one would be wrong btw.  I used no general misconception in my grammar
X Today at 09:33:37 PM winkio - Or your hypocrisy.
X Today at 09:31:18 PM Longfellow - One could say the same of your splendidly awful grammar, winkio.
X Today at 09:31:08 PM winkio - and the connection to racism was mostly in relation to people saying "I got jipped (or gypped, depending on how you want to spell it)", "I got jewed", and other racist stuff that people don't know about when they say it.
X Today at 09:27:00 PM winkio - The less misinformation exists, the less stupid people are, which is a good thing.  I see it as positive to clear up general misconception.  I'm terribly sorry that you, subsonic, took it personally, and that you, longfellow, don't see what I see.
X Today at 09:20:23 PM Longfellow - People seem to think that people would actually want to go to school in Alabama or Arkansas. Sometimes they even think that about Mississippi
X Today at 09:17:24 PM Longfellow - Winkio, I'm sorry but I just can't see your standpoint here. You seem to be just another pedantic internet troll.
X  Today at 09:16:32 PM Subsonic_Noise - And about "perputating stupidity"... you were the one who couldn't get a simple joke ;-)
X Today at 09:06:15 PM Subsonic_Noise - Also, I'm as bad as a racist because I made a joke.
X Today at 09:05:24 PM Subsonic_Noise - I'm such a bad person. I should be ashamed.
X Today at 08:58:15 PM winkio - Yeah, people don't realize what they are saying.  I take statements that perpetuate stupidty the same way as statements that perpetuate racism.
X Today at 08:47:01 PM Subsonic_Noise - That being said,  my statement about the mutation by radiation was actually supposed to make people laugh by being unlikely and random. But you really wanted to take it seriously, huh? xD
X Today at 08:45:21 PM Subsonic_Noise - Oh, I didn't want to draw a connection between those two kinds of mutations, I just meant that the chain of mutations that lead to exactly this complex life is unlikely to happen, but it still happened.
X Today at 08:34:45 PM winkio - right, but those are mutations of single cells when they divide.  Mutations from radiation have to be in very large groups of cells.  Mutations in single cells are very likely to happen, they happen all the time, but most of the time, they are corrected, or don't end up doing much.
X Today at 08:33:17 PM Subsonic_Noise - Also, It's 3:30am, I'm supposed to write an 7 page essay, and I'm discussing how probable life is on an rpg maker forum.
X Today at 08:32:01 PM Subsonic_Noise - Evolution is a connection of many mutations, which are "accidents" and not very likely to happen.
X Today at 08:30:18 PM Subsonic_Noise - I actually wrote that existance life in general may be probable, but this life, us, the nature around us, on exactly this planet isn't. Even very unprobable things can eventually happen, that's what I wanted to say by that statement.
X Today at 08:28:20 PM Subsonic_Noise - I wrote a long text to prove you wrong, but I accidently refreshed. Just imagine I proved you wrong Sarcasm nah, just kidding.
X Today at 08:22:48 PM RoseSkye - Yes, exactly =/ now you're getting it.
X Today at 08:13:57 PM winkio - life is improbable compared to something on a human scale - say, the probability of winning a lottery, 1 in a million or so, but in the universe, over billions of years, it's quite probable.  In the 4.5 billion years this planet has been around, life arose in less than a billion years.  In fact, once the conditions were right for life (3.9 million years ago), life arose very quickly (within 50 million years).  So on a cosmic scale, life is very probable.
X Today at 07:22:59 PM Subsonic_Noise - I must say, you have some wierd imaginations.
X Today at 07:22:44 PM Subsonic_Noise - I myself am quite sure that I don't exist but rather am an imagination of all of you.
X Today at 07:19:13 PM Subsonic_Noise - The existance of life itself is very improbable, but still, we do exist... probably.
X Today at 07:15:30 PM RoseSkye - Improbable vs. Impossible... The lottery thing came from a creationist argument. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oydJ3CKpOfM
X Today at 06:40:36 PM winkio - Fine, I'll give in, it's whose, not who's.
X Today at 06:14:39 PM winkio - and lottery tickets are easy as fuck compared to any of those three.  I went to school with a guy who's dad won the lottery.  Even a lottery where everyone in the world got a ticket and only one person won would be ridiculously easier than any of the three.
X Today at 06:08:30 PM winkio - wait, which thing are you referring to?  mutation, falling, or painting the mona lisa with your stomach acid?
X  Today at 06:05:22 PM RoseSkye - That's not all that impossible winkio... its far more possible than the whole lottery ticket thing.
X Today at 03:59:47 PM Subsonic_Noise - Here, take this trophy.
X Today at 03:59:07 PM winkio - It's like throwing up onto a canvas and having the resulting picture be the mona lisa.
X Today at 03:58:04 PM winkio - the chances of mutating beneficially and survivng a nuke at the same time are about the same as the chances of you falling for 100 meters through the floor of whever you are and into the earth's crust.
X Today at 03:17:17 PM Blizzard - Good point. Sarcasm
X Today at 03:16:49 PM Subsonic_Noise - They probably mutated from the first nuke and got superhuman powers to survive the other three.
X Today at 03:13:23 PM Longfellow - I actually nuked Madrid four times but still had to capture it with my tanks. They were pretty stubborn.
X Today at 03:03:35 PM Subsonic_Noise - Sarcasm (real sarcasm, finally.)
X Today at 03:02:23 PM Subsonic_Noise - Yeah, those spanish pussies. They don't even survive a nuke.
X Today at 02:28:32 PM Longfellow - I just crushed Spain in Civilization IV. I rushed them with like a bajillion tanks/mechanized infantry and nuked the capital to make it easy. They were silly.

Summary:
Somebody made a joke, and one of the components of the joke is that people mutate as the result of being nuked.  I point out how impossible that is, with the intent of opposing a general misconception.  Other people have their complaints.

It's like saying "THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE" after every chuck norris joke.

winkio

no, because people don't believe chuck norris jokes.  People do, however, believe that nukes, toxic waste, and the like can directly mutate people.

Subsonic_Noise

Oh, there are people who believe everything, but that wasn't my point. That was actually a hyperbole.
But whatever, it's 5am. I have things to do. Like, music.

Blizzard

Define mutation. Mutation is considered the alteration of genetic data. If your genetic data mutates, it doesn't mean that you will mutate, it means that your children might mutate. And we have seen that kind of stuff (e.g. babies in Hiroshima still having birth defects).

Unless the mutation is that it mutates other cells. It's possible :V

winkio

If your sex cells / genitals mutate, then there's a good chance that your kids will mutate.  But if somehow, a whole group of cells experienced a common mutation, your body could mutate.  Of course, it's much more likely that you will just end up with cancer, but it could end up being a non-cancerous mutation.

Blizzard

Yeah. Cancer is after all a small group of cells going nuts.

I don't really give a fuck, but it isn't you job to inform the stupid. That's why we have a general disdain for socialism! you can't tell anyone what to do, because even though they'd benefit, they have a freedom to be stupid!. That's right, you can be stupid if you want!!!!!!!!! Holy shit, I'm going to unlearn EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....EVER.....YES!!!!!!!!

Seriously, I'm all for informing the stupid, but you won't get any support from Americans. We're way too FREE and have, PARDON MY GREEK, OUR HEADS THOROUGHLY ALL THE WAY UP OUR CONSERVATIVE ASSES! LET'S IGNORE PROGRESSIVE COUNTRIES WHO ACTIVELY WORK TO CORRECT THINGS LIKE GENERAL MISCONCEPTIONS! MAYBE SERIOUS THINGS LIKE THE EFFECTS OF NUCLEAR EXPOSTION, BUT EVEN THINGS LIKE HUMAN RIGHTS AND ADDRESSING POVERTY! FUCK YEAH! LET'S ALL CHOOSE TO ABUSE OUR FREEDOM AND IGNORE OUR DYING WORLD STATUS!

*ahem*

Well, it's your choice so do as you please ^_^

Wowow

fugibo

It doesn't really matter whether we give people the freedom to or not, or whether we try to erase all semblance of stupidity from society, people are going to be idiots. Anyone dumb enough to honestly believe that a nuke can mutate someone that way is already an idiot, and likely will generate their own crap no matter how little you feed them.

winkio

Or perhaps they think that stupid crap because nobody has made them think otherwise?

You've obviously forgotten what high school was like. Remember all those people who would sit and classes and blatantly refuse to actually learn any of the stuff laid out in front of them? Yeah, that's 99% of the population. They're like that until they die. They literally refuse to not be stupid.

I've been trying to popularize that opinion down here, but all the authorities are just too benevolent. I think we'll have to kill them first.
