To the animation thing: you do realise that, that type of animation is made by a studio and takes loads of time to do + people who can do that, else if you want to play a pre-rendered video you can search one video player script, there are tons in the internet.

And what do you mean different art? More frames? Smoother animations? Parallax? Explain yourself else nobody can't really help you

A. yes i was using it as reference as i thought a link to my friends animations might seem a bit, like advertising.

B. here is an example of custom art, just an example of what someone else has done http://youtu.be/5h6LlDy4oHE?t=2m41s

personally I'd like more full characters, and if I was a lot more confident I'd even try for something like this: http://youtu.be/Y2FcKJTVW7U?t=21s

but to the point, I've seen a lot of custom art that doesn't seem like it can work and wanted to know the limitations? For example, I can't have full 3d models or gameplay like metroid other M.

Sorry for the confusion.

Tutorials / How to import custom art into xp?

I understand how to do so with basic stuff like tilesets and character sprites but I've seen entirely different art for the game and I want to know how to import that without causing too many problems.

Also, just to save time, anyone know how to make custom animations? I have the animated title screen, I have an animator, but that's more so stop motion animating. Is there a better known script out there or even a direct port to allow for this type of stuff?

The problem is that no one is really going to spend their time trying to teach you the core basics of programming just so that you have a better understanding of how to even begin writing a battle system. You could learn how to event it yourself--would take a while, but definitely faster than learning how to code.

If you're still young, take a programming course. Otherwise, prepare to fork over money if you're not willing to learn on your own.

Fair, but any tips, ideas, direction and general "hello" is all good too. first, does anyone know if anything like this battle system has been made before?

It would appear as if the default game engine isn't super far away from this.  Otherwise, you'll likely have to code it yourself.  Battle systems are pretty hard to code, and I'd be surprised if somebody just coded it for you.

Teach a man to fish, etc. I WANT to learn but I have difficulties with mostly time and motivation, so self learning is entirely too slow. I'd love for all sorts of people to teach me how to do all sorts of things so I could do this by myself and i have no illusions about the difficulty and time that will take.

I'm war and I have a LOT I want to do but I don't really know how to script or rally continue my game. I was hoping someone could help? Right now I just want a battle system like this: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/647411 (it'll take 30 seconds to run into a battle after creating your character.)

Basically A to dodge, D to attack, etc etc. And if anyone wants to teach me a SHIT TON of stuff or interested in my game, feel free to say so. haha
