Alright! Thanks Game_guy!

I know the basics for making slight edits to the default scripts, but not enough knowledge to create a script on my own. I can GENERALLY figure out what stuff does and MAYBE tweak it a bit but that's the extent of my knowledge.

Better than nothing though

My questions were, which phase in the DBS is the end of turn phase? I wanna know which part runs after the turn is over, or which phase runs BEFORE the play makes their moves and such. I'd actually prefer the latter.

and how do I call common events from the script event command? Can I use that same syntax in the starting/ending battle phase and run that common event before the player moves without errors?

It's not necessary, but it'd help me run my event battle systems more smoothly. It's alright if nobody can help me with this since it isn't gonna change too much but it'd help me still.

Hey, I actually got them to work together, believe it or not.

It's the weirdest thing though. Put a 1 frame wait command before the FIRST text window you use in each event/event page, and it should work. I believe I put the message system script above BABS

Let me know if it works or not. it worked for me but you never know...Also you'll need both the edited scripts Forever Zer0 included in his demo. They have ** in their names to show that they've been edited.

And I gotta say it makes BABS even more awesome ^_^

It gave me another error but i'm not sure what it means.

wrong number of arguments(2 for 1)


I'm gonna test it again in a different project to see if it's cuz of conflicting scripts or something.

EDIT: Alright it indeed works. I'm not quite sure why but it's got a few script conflicts, but it works! :D

Just in case if you're interested, apparently it has a negative reaction with Blizz's Zombie state script o_o

Yeah....i had it all set up right and everything. I must be horrible at testing scripts XD

Okie dokie, this time it didn't give any errors but the item didn't activate the skill. It just showed the animation and then that was all that happened.

It did the same error. Just for the record I have a legal version of RPG Maker XP @_@

Tried it by removing scripts I didn't know if they were conflicting or not.

It changed nothing. I'm sorry if i'm not being too helpful :(

That's the error I just got....Not even really sure what happened here either XD

I removed the extra 'def' on line 14 like Forever Zer0 suggested.

I tested it, but I get an error. All the error window says is there's a syntax error in line 14. No specification what exactly is wrong  :O_O: If there were more to the error message i'd post a picture...

Yeah, I know, I already have some items like that but I feel it'd be more strategic to have items casting spells. I don't want players being able to do set damage against enemies....it'd be kinda weird the way I have battles set up.

I don't mind waiting for a script....I doubt it'd be hard THEN again I only know how to edit small parts of scripts and have no real knowledge of scripting.

I was under the impression people liked that feature of rm2k/3 *scratches head*

I'd definitely like a script so I can have items use skills instead. If it isn't too much bother that is. I understand you're pretty back up on requests and stuff yeah? Like I said I wouldn't mind the wait, the script isn't needed to make one of my games playable, but it'd definitely be a desired feature and hopefully other people would wanna use it too lol

I understand that RM 2003 had something that let you cast magic from item scrolls you could use in battle.

Is there a script like that for RPG maker XP? If so, where can I find it? I figure somebody out there's made the script, i'm just horrible at finding stuff...

and if it isn't made, is there a chance somebody could make it?

It'll be a lot more than just a demo, though.

well.....I was just thinking about it. I suppose I could copy the project file and cut out a bunch of stuff to make a "demo" sized game for people to play. It'd be fair enough  :P

I think i'll do that. I'll fix it up some more to make sure everything works up to the point where i'll make the demo versions end, then i'll PM you, SBR*, and The Niche.

Not that I think you'll be any trouble, but none of the graphics in this game are for use at all without permission. I actually don't mind that much about some of the graphics that I've edited/made, but one of my friends has an Original Character that i'm hosting in the game for fun, and I won't tolerate any theft of graphics related to that character. My friend has plans for this OC and if I had the means i'd skin alive anybody that steals said graphics.

......Lol that also goes for my OCs. I'm practicing drawing so I can make a Manga, and some of my OCs are important characters from the manga i'm planning.

Basically, some of the material is as good as copyrighted.

SOOO......I'll finish up a few loose ends and when I have enough done, the demo will basically have the first two "Paths" that the player can choose, I.E. two alternate stories from near the beginning of the game.

Where ya go is up to you! :D

I'll PM you once i've finished the 'demo' though

Yup! Haven't made much progress story wise, but i've been working on lots of the things that make the game work. I tend to play through my game from the bottom up to test it (which is fun as heck) but there's things that don't get updated on the save files so I'm doing my best to get as many of those things out of the way now before I set myself up for another playthrough :p

I could do some in-battle event systems. I've made a few myself for some extra strategic possibilities.

I made up some dummy accessories that grant people "Abilities" in battle like auto-reviving with a 1/4 chance (customizable by variable) and also power boosts, or similar effects that trigger when the user is low on HP.

I know Aqua made a low health states script, at least I think it was you Aqua, I hadn't checked in a while so I forget the author, but the abilities can be changed and such, purchased in shops, found in treasure chests........

I just thought it was something people may be interested in but it's ok if nobody cares ^_^;; The effects of the abilities can be anything you can imagine and create with normal events. Given the possibilities....well, lotsa stuff can happen. I know it works with the default battle system, side view or not. Only problem is it needs an event tab in each troop that calls a common event each turn. It checks which people are in the party and then calls common events designated for each actor in the active party. Keeps it from doing too much, and while it does its magic it's not even really noticeable that it's there

I can sprite myself easy. Um, is it too much to ask that I be a helpful NPC?

It'd be nice to appear more than once...but that's just meeee.

As for Tilesets and the like....what kind are you looking for? Maybe I can help work on those.

This idea really sounds epic, I like it alot :D
