Title: RM2k and RM2k3 Question
Post by: Spaceman McConaughey on August 24, 2011, 09:21:42 am
Are they at this point abandonware?

I am just really curious, as abandonware holds no protection from US copyright law, and I have them hosted on DM.
I just want to know if I'd need to remove them or not.

Ah, okay. I just assumed since there's no more work/advertising at all being done with them, and not to mention they're not anywhere on the official RPG Maker website:
http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/

Any recommendations, then?

And that is supposed to mean? That you're my butt slave, yes?

Anyways, people, I have decided to include them on DM. They are obviously abandonware, as not even the company who made them lists them on their own site.
And abandonware is, I'll say again, 100% safe from US copyright law, so no problem hosting them on DM as it's not even considered piracy.

Well, i'm not sure if they're abandonware, but in a similiar topic at RMF i think we concluded that it's okay to DL them but it's not ok to sell games made with them.
Though ASCII/EB apparentaly don't give a shit about them at this point...

Which is why I am hosting download links. And yes, it is abandonware:
No more work being done on it, no updates, no support, nothing about it on the company's official website; they abandoned it.
It's abandonware. Nothing more to say about it than that.
