My laptop is getting way too hot. WAY, TOO, HOT. Just leaving it to sit, and do nothing, with practically nothing open, it will get hot enough to singe my skin within a matter of minutes after boot. It's fucking frustrating, and I am going to lose my mind over this, honestly...

So some guy posted a solution on the internet, says it makes it 30 degrees cooler(and in my opinion, shows that HP's designers are fucking idiotic pieces of shit to seal this in there how they did), and I am wondering if it's worth the trouble:

With that little piece of plastic gone, won't it be more vulnerable to dust? If you ask me, you should take it to the service center or at least look for less intrusive solutions. You could also try undervolting your CPU (http://forum.notebookreview.com/hardware-components-aftermarket-upgrades/235824-undervolting-guide.html) to shave off a few degrees. Just my thoughts. Hope you solve your problem soon :)

I know what I am going to do now. I am going to do that guide, in conjunction with what the other guy did.

Sure, more dust, but I'd rather clean out dust every now and then than place a portable stove on my lap. ;-;

It should be. But honestly, I think the warranty voided when I was forced to format the version of Windows 7 that came with it due to a bug caused by whatever shit HP had preinstalled. Or would that not void the warranty? I feel it shouldn't, but I've read on some websites it would.

If you're up for it, go through the warranty card (or booklet or paper), it should say something about it.
You also have the option of backing up your files and restoring factory settings before going to HP for help. I think HP laptops have a recovery partition, unless you removed it. Did you? I know I did after 3 months ^_^'

Yeah, the partition didn't last long on here.
I am starting to hate HP products in general now, because I always have some kind of horrible experience with them.

And about the warranty papers:
I guess I'll ask my parents where they are so I can read them, but the only response I would probably get is, "You already break your fucking computer!?".
Bleh.

The warranty shouldn't be voided over re-installing the OS, since it supposed to cover hardware malfunction. You bought the computer, you're allowed to put whatever operating system you want on it.

This does void the warranty.

I'm pretty certain it doesn't actually.

You may possibly run into some type of issue if you changed it from Windows to Linux or something, but reinstalling the same OS isn't going to cause your warranty to be voided.

Reinstalling the OS doesn't void the warranty, formatting the partition used to restore the pre-installed OS does.

Ah, I see. I didn't know you even could format the OEM partition. It always says its "reserved" times when I was installing an OS. I never actually tried though.

It had to be eliminated due to a problem with HP's version installed(I am not even going to go into detail about it, it pissed me off so bad).
If they have anything to say against it, I'll take their smug asses to court and get my $1,000+ back.
