Title: The Mach IV test
Post by: Blizzard on January 29, 2012, 05:22:14 pm
No, it's not Gilette's newest razor.
The Mach IV test determines how much of a Machiavellian personality you are. You can look it up on Wikipedia here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machiavellianism).

And here's the test. Have fun. :)

I scored 62. I was surprised, because I expected it to be higher. I think I've changed over the past 18 months.

I scored a 62 as well.  I fundamentally disagree with the High Mach mentality, but all my answers to the questions were completely honest.  Interesting test, perhaps it is more useful on the larger sample scale.

63, interesting that that's right smack in the middle of the first standard deviation. apparently it is complected normal to be there.

I scored a 64.  My opinion on the test is pretty much winkio said.

I read through the test and I honestly feel I can't answer most of these questions. Some of them I don't understand, therefor cannot answer honestly. Others I really don't know how to answer since I never really think about it a whole lot. >_> The test is interesting to say the least, I might give it a go sometime as I think about these questions a bit more.

I have a serious problem with the validity of any test that asks such generalized questions. It forces you to choose an answer that you might choose differently if it was put into context and described a bit more in-depth. Given, some questions are worded purposefully this way to get your "overall" opinion, but the answers are much more complicated that the options that are given.

Also, Machiavellian principals are shared by other common philosophies that are completely different.  In fact, the overlap is probably somewhere around 60-65%, so yeah, it makes perfect sense.
