It's been confirmed America is doing it's own Live Action Death Note (NOT the one from Japan). The director is rumored to be a horror movie director. Kira?

It's also rumored Zac Efron is going to play as Light Yagami (According to your MSN and the video)...That would be quite humorous to see Zac starting to enjoy killing people...

Zac Efron played as a character in Hairspray. What did that get? Very positive reviews, though it's probably more of John Travolta's part as the main character rather than Zac. Nevertheless.
true one actor doesn't break a movie but hairspray was just a remake and yea....john travolta was probly the reason it got reviews. there is hope yet though, as u mentioned. he beter not screw it up >:(
He's practically Light come to life, I don't think you could get anyone closer looking.
The director is what I'm worried about, it's rumored to be Bryan Bertino- the guy who did The Strangers (41% on Rotten Tomatoes). It's a horror movie director damnit, Death Note is NOT A HORROR MOVIE. >.>
death note is part j-horror and psycological not a straight horror. It' more a detective story than a scary one though the end freaks me out alot

Watari was awesome. I don't know myself who is my favorite person in Death Note, but I digress. :\ After all, this is discussion of the movie.
There can be some horror elements within Death Note, but the whole movie (Or series) isn't revolved around horror and ghouls. It's rather involved around logic, psychology, mystery, that sort of tense suspense that will keep the reader entangled. Oh, and the attractiveness of Light and L. That too.
