Yeah, you should definitely use your old account, although we can give you a name change if you want it. We can also reset your password if you forgot it.

i can't remember but didn't we have to create new accounts when we changed sites? (if not, wasn't there a purge of inactive accounts) that was way less than a decade ago so it would explain why you couldn't access your old account
The forum does not allow you to use register two different accounts with the same email. I am going to delete your new account, then switch the email on the old account to the one on the new account. You should be able to use the email address to retrieve your password, but if you have any problems, post here as a guest, or email me.
