Title: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: GAX on July 21, 2008, 01:14:17 am
Well, I know we're not as big as RMRK.net, but hey, why not?

Of course, we'd need a few catagories and stuff.

Think CP can pull it off?

Most likely its gonna be pointless, everyone will obviously choose Blizzard, and his game, and that's about it.
Unless we get more active members, its a bad idea.

I agree with mumerus. If by the end of the year we have a fair amount of members, it might make more sense.

Why do we have to include Blizzard?

If we all know he will win already, and he's that godly, just exclude him from the vote. Give others a chance.

We all know Blizzard is god almighty and will win everything, so for once, we'll just exclude him...We have so many other potential members that could win. I vote that we should do this.

Ok, then we will exclude you, too. Oh, let's exclude SRK as well. an Ulta. And Aqua. Ah, to hell with it, let's exclude everyone! :D

Seriously, would YOU like to be excluded? There's no point in awards, the community is simply too small. Stop trying to turn this into RMRK 2.
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: Starrodkirby86 on August 16, 2008, 06:17:49 pm
Yay, Blizzard thought of me pretty early! And Ulta! And Aqua!~

We do have a giant fair share of active members, but a lot of the active members don't do these sort of contributions. For example, only 21 users voted in my Random Poll. If there's only 21 votes or something for an awards, that's too little. Wait until it grows, and we only delve our way OUT of RMRK's ideas.

Edit: sorry Blizz I was kidding about that whole pride thing. Guess I should have signified it :\. Don't take me too seriously next time please. i like to joke, but I'll try and keep things down.

::::My take on things:::

Spoiler: ShowHide
Well i for one do not support these awards. I don't want to cause strife amonst us and bad tension cause "'so-and-so' won an award and it was so MY award!" You know, that kind of bull crap that no one wants to deal with. I feel as though a good comunity has no need to signify who is "superior" with awards but rather an openness for all members to succeed in ALL areas equally.

Ok, Dio, then we will exclude you from the awards. Seriously, that's just mean.

just wait untill Galenia is close to finishing! Then there will be some competition!

Hey Dio.... STFU!!! >:(

Joking!!.... Your my fav... id vote for you?

We should adventually get awards for the forum (even tho i wouldnt get any :P) think it would bring more production or w.e to the forum :haha:

Yeah awards sound pretty cool. Might give me a reason to step up my game a lil bit :P But I mean... if you guys are all against it...  :^_^':

If the awards actually happen, this is my opportunity to beat blizz  he's the guy I must beat at all costs!!!!! But then again I'm not quite at his level yet. So I suppose waiting is a good thing too.
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: Starrodkirby86 on September 01, 2008, 11:54:01 am
Tons of Shit and Arshes Gets Sexy is sooooo going to win the awards...

:V:

----
If we are doing awards, we need enough active members. I'm sure we have a good bunch of active members, especially newbies. However, there needs to be more, enough to make the votes fluctuate and meaty, somewhere around 20 or more I suppose.
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: Fallen Angel X on September 01, 2008, 02:21:37 pm
20 or more? Sounds fine with me. 20 more people to compete with!!!!!! but more importantly if Blizz competes I'm taking him down  BY that time me and Valcos will have a more ownage game then him 8)

But who would the judges be? I'd so nominate SRK, Ulta, and Blizz but if blizz is a judge I cant compete with him T.T
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?

I, for one, think the awards are a good idea. I think excluding Blizzard, or ANYONE for that matter is just totally pointless. Blizz wouldn't win all the categories (especially if we have a Spam King award), nor would excluding him make it feel like community awards. I think there can be some serious awards, like best RM game, and some more quirky awards like most frequent avatar change, spam king, oddest username, etc.

but blizz has the final call

Most likely to get a muffin punch?

I'd bank on me. Maybe we should make our own categories!
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?

The forum is getting more and more active which means that there might be awards soon. Well, there could be awards at the end of the year, who knows.
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?

Good to see that we're getting active although I still oppose the awards.

It all depends.
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: Starrodkirby86 on September 02, 2008, 06:26:24 pm
Well, it can always be a friendly competition. And votes are anonymous unless the user tells who they voted for...So maybe some unknown active member can always arise and decide on some votes...The CP Awards is something someone should be proud of for contributing and being family to Chaos-Project, so bitter hatred should not be there...After all, who experienced bitter hatred in Awards like The Oscars or Grammy's? f(o_o)
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?

I did which is why I'm opposed to it! 8)

I go crazy under competitive atmosphere
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: Blizzard on September 03, 2008, 05:19:27 am
The thing is that you can't affect the competition in any way because the votings really are anonymous.
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: Diokatsu on September 03, 2008, 08:55:42 am
I may support something like that >.>

Depends on if we get some cool new members or not!
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: Starrodkirby86 on September 03, 2008, 09:27:59 am
You suggesting some of these new meats are uncool? :X

:=:

Nevertheless, we can simply work an Oscar sort of system out, or the usual Internet awards. Also, we can set that the voter cannot see the results of the poll until the poll expires at a certain date. That gives more anonymity and it gives suspense, like a real voting session.
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: Diokatsu on September 03, 2008, 09:31:52 am
Mayhaps we can divert to the "Most likely to..." system. Those are fun and no one would have hard feelings. Or everyone should get both a bad and good award, like someone might get most helpful, but also get least likely to go to Hawaii....I mean those ideas are horrible but You know what I'm saying. If I sound Socialist, I'm aiming for that. And not fake Socialism either  >:(
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: shdwlink1993 on September 03, 2008, 02:07:27 pm
An idea on how to get the whole "not seeing the results" thing is to PM Blizz (Or maybe have Blizz make an account temporary for this) with your vote. And then Blizz can go through the thing and tally the votes up. It'd be a little tedious, but it could work.
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?

There's an option for that already when you create a poll. O.o;

Proof no one read my post.  :'(

We can make one contest where one has to make a tribute to CP. Not exactly the game, but the participant creates a video of something relating to CP in a way, kind of like starmen.net's Youtube contest, except without the TomBobBlender.

Another idea instead of a good or bad award, since those are too specific to really be an award (Like least likely to go to Hawaii...That's too specific and we can't monitor that oh so well), there'll be positive and negative awards (Told in a positive connotation). Go to Brawl for an example...Disaster Master has a more insane and positive sound, but it goes for a negative position (Most SDs).

Lastly, we can have an award specifically categorized at some people, not a full or specific exclusion. An example of this can be a "Prettiest Member" sort of award, using pictures from "Post a Picture of Yourself" as our participants. That's an example obviously, and surely something better can be devised.

How bout we make a thread with possible idea? It could be like the weird class names style, no rules just post down a bunch. Well, a little more serious than that but the same format nonetheless. Good post Star. Filled up the space :haha:

I'm devising a list of all the active members I know of in CP. If I forget someone, oops, sorry. If the number is high enough, I'm sure we can have an award thing around the end of the year.

Active Members: ShowHide

  • Blizzard
  • UltaFlame
  • Juan
  • Lost_Hope (?)
  • Zeriab
  • GAX
  • NAMK
  • Ryex
  • Caro Ru Lushe
  • shdwlink1993
  • Phasedscar
  • winkio
  • SRK86
  • Lore (?)
  • legacyblade
  • Valcos
  • Chaze
  • Aqua
  • Diokatsu
  • DeathLock
  • RoseSkye (?)
  • Hellfire Dragon
  • Rymd (?)
  • Blulightning
  • jragyn (?)
  • Viviatus
  • TheHackMan
  • shadonking
  • Pokol
  • Falcon (?)

And that list is pretty long, but some won't participate and some can be leechers, I don't know so well. If this list is somehow too stupid or offensive, I can always take it down. :P There's about 30 people. :X

I'd say we should rule out members who have less than 100 posts all around including SPAM. Blizz can sort it like that prolly.
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?

Yeah, I can. And that's not such a bad idea. We'll see, end of the year is still far away.

Very true. Who knows who'll get what? The most important thing is to keep these fun. I'm only against the awards because I foresee catastrophe in all this competition.

There will only be catastrophe if you provoke it. If you ignore it and help with making the experience fun, the chance of someone getting bitter and angry will lessen. Only n00bs really get giant emotional Internet drama-s anyway, at least, giant act-outs (Not suggesting Lost_Hope, he learned his lesson so he's perfectly all right :D). It would lead to some depression if you're deeply into the forum, but it's nothing really bad, unless if you intertwined yourself with CP, which is not a good thing to do. :X

Now Star, don't start telling others what is good or not...It's fine to become attached if you feel it is neccessary...Be forewarned that it may lead to disappointment, however. All members have a freedom to act as they please to a degree and these awards commend the actions of SOME. This practice of singling out others becasue they spend extra time rewards gratification for sure but a disappointment as well. And the ones who wouldn't care that they didn't get an award don't deserve it, in my mind. The very people who achieve the status or reputability that would confer upon them such an award to bring them pride, HAVE infact entertwined themselves with CP. It is not from half-hearted contributions that one gains acceptance as a contributer but through a true joy in seeing their work praised. And in that joy comes the "dependance" that you so harmfully scorn.

I agree. On the other side I AM detached from the forum, but that doesn't mean that I don't care. There are different kinds of dedication.

Of course. I think the awards should go on dispite this but try and mnot make a big deal of them. Make it like a casual thing... With minisigs 8) and make every member get an award, despite their productivity :V?
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: Shadonking on September 07, 2008, 05:46:05 pm
i agree with the awards, alot of people put alot of effort here and deserve some thing in return.

you should make different catagories like. tileset making, Music workshops, charset making, scripts, events etc etc so a good selection have something to aim for.

there should be 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place as well.

this would be cool becuase at least some one like me has a chance of atl east getting one (knowing my luck i'll lose anyway lol)
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?

I think it should be onlt one winner and no 2nd place or 3rd..

Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: Shadonking on September 07, 2008, 08:52:14 pm
no, becuase that means there is only competition between the a small group of people becuase no one else will have a chance.
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: Diokatsu on September 07, 2008, 09:14:00 pm
Since when did anyone else have a chance for 1st if they got 2nd?

You make no sense....We don't nominate we vote anon. Regardless of who would have earned a second or a third place, the 1st place will still stand. That's why we want more awards. 2nd place just says you were good, you helped, BUT someone was better. Only one person should get that recognition. That will prevent all the stress that a full blow competition brings.
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: Starrodkirby86 on September 07, 2008, 09:16:11 pm
I don't agree with a first place being the only position available. I'm more accepting of kicking third place though and only keeping first and second, second being the "Runner-Up". Some awards do this sort of system, and I feel it is a nice compromise. That way, it still gives room for more winners, while not having too much winners.
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: Diokatsu on September 07, 2008, 09:19:26 pm
I'd agree with that if we HAD to have another position. 3rd is like the straggler who couldn't keep up, not in all cases is that true of course.
Title: Re: The Chaos Project Awards?
Post by: Shadonking on September 08, 2008, 05:17:58 am
3rd place would be pointless, wouldt it.

i agree with Starrodkirby86 about just having 1st, 2nd.

you chould make there ribbon (or what ever they win)for there sig gold for 1st and silver for 2nd
