Title: Using RMVXA Database Editor in RMXP Project
Post by: ShadowSaber on August 30, 2014, 02:03:28 am
as you know, compared to VXA database editor, XP's has lack of customizability,
however I prefer XP styled map since VXA was wtf in my eyes.

when I saw this thread (http://forum.chaos-project.com/index.php/topic,12899.0.html), I had the idea how if I can use VXA database editor in XP project.
Is there anyone can create such script?

You can import XP maps to the VX Ace engine with a special script if I remember well, or just use parallax maps but that's more artistic stuffs ...

I'm not talking about this (http://forum.chaos-project.com/index.php/topic,13248.0.html).
what I want is I want to use "XP map editor", but with "VXA database editor" (since imported XP map is a bit glitchy unlike default RGSS1 Tilemap class)

also, it's too inconvenient, (creating XP map, importing to VXA project, set events in the VXA map editor => 3 steps for every map created / edited)

No, it's not possible, and there will never be a script that does what you want.
It MIGHT be possible to create a script that somehow converts maps from ACE to XP, but even if it did, it would have to remove being able to use the ACE editor in a normal intuitive way, which defies the point.

Your only option is to create your own editor and modify the .rxdata files yourself. C# and IronRuby is a great start. Or you could install Ruby and wxRuby and make an editor that way. But either way, you'll have to learn some programming to accomplish what you want. Everyone here is either too busy with their own stuff or more than likely, doesn't want to bother with a new editor since A) ARC is starting to make some progress or B) Zer0's new engine is getting closer to release

Understandable man. Got a new job at Buffalo Wild Wings, they just opened in my town and I helped open up the restaurant. Been crazy busy.
