I did have an old laptop. It broke. Luckily I had a Vista Computer. But RMXP wouldn't work on it but Aqua saved the day with her post. Few months later its christmas and I get a new laptop. Its vista. I download RMXP and I didn't buy another copy seeing I think I had enough stuff for christmas and I didn't want to ask my mom to use her credit card. Good thing I didn't too. I opened up RMXP. I made a small project and went to test it out. ............10 minutes later. Just a black screen still on the player than I clicked on the Player and it said Not Responding so I had to close it down. I Thought it was the music and it was. So I took off the Title BGM and it loaded just fine until I pressed new game and it crashed 10 minutes later. Because I had BGM on the map.
Can someone help me please :'( I know I can make games on my vista computer but not on my laptop.
that's really ... odd... are you sure that you have an sound card properly installed? test out the music files that come with RMXP (found in Program files\common files\ enterbrain\rgss\stranded\audio\ect.) in windows media player (just double click on the file once you find it). if it doesn't work then your computer has a problem with the sound card and its not RMXP
They play fine. It only crashes when I try to play any RMXP game with music.
I did play them in the common files and they do work fine. Please help someone :'(
Maybe the computer doesn't have a great SW Synthesizer. MIDIs are usually played through SW Synth, especially on RPG Maker, since that's what happened when I play those games. Try running a game using .mp3, .ogg, or .wav audio. See if it works.
And to possibly explain how your Media Player is able to play those MIDIs, it might be able to convert SW Synth into Wave, something that's always going to work. D:
This is just me theorizing...-_-; Just check all your sound settings and best of luck to you.
Try other applications that usually run MIDIs (But not something like Media Player).
I tried using Mp3's it doesn't work :<_<: Goddam vista. Hmm...if only I could use XP somehow on my vista. Is it possible to do that?
But yea it doesn't work with mp3's it crashes as well
See if your sound card needs drivers, or check out its manufacturers page. Also, is it just in rmxp that sound stuff doesnt work?
yep he's saying that it is only not working in RMXP. ^^
try reinstalling the rtp and RMXP
I re-installed everything. Still no luck. Stupid f***ing VIsta. Its cool and all but hardly any programs work on it! I can't even play my favorite online game anymore! BOTS http://bots.acclaim.com
you are useing REAL RMXP not PKE right?
yup. Its only the trial version but I downloaded it straight from here http://tkool.jp/products/rpgxp/eng/download.html
This is extremely weird. I tried re-installing rmxp again. Of course I start editing my game and go to play test it. Surprizingly it doesn't work. So I tried running the rgss player as administrator and I accidently clicked open instead. So it opens and guess what it works! So its not my computer its rmxp! Its not loading the player right. Does anybody know whats going on?
I'll mark this topic as resolved for I can test my games still I just can't open the debug.
I have been experiencing the same exact problem...
When opening and running the RGSS Player file from your project folder, the game will play perfectly. Sound, animation, everything...
When pressing the "Playtest" button or trying to use the "Audio Test" feature from inside the "editor" the system crashes and becomes unresponsive. This also happens with test battles in the database...
It seems that upon utilizing the editor's test features, the editor will go absolutely retarded...
I am limited to solely working on my game with my desktop and I'm pissed...I can only really use my laptop for the creation of graphics...
I <3 backwards compatibility.
I'm guessing it has to do with the embedded ruby in RGSS102e.dll not wanting to play nice :/ but that's just a guess.
Honestly...
That makes much more sense then anything else at this point :\
Lolz, TOTALLY necroposting (I think), but for something so specific, I figure it'd be better to just post here, since it's not like it's been a year >.>
Did anyone ever come up with a solution for this? EXACT SAME PROBLEM occuring for me.
Please and thank you ^_^
