Title: Legacyblade's Spriting Shrine
Post by: legacyblade on February 04, 2009, 06:59:51 pm
FOR A MORE ORDERLY AND FREQUENTLY UPDATED VERSION OF THIS SHRINE, GO HERE (http://www.eminweb.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=530&st=0&gopid=5295&#entry5295)

Hello everyone. I decided to do something a little out of the ordinary for resource threads. Rather than release a few poses, and a few charsets, I'm going to release ALL my charsets, and all the poses needed for most games for each one. This will take a bit of time to complete, but once I have the thread completed, you will be able to find all the graphics you'll need for any game you want to make, whether it be with RPG Maker XP, RPG Maker VX, Stencyl, Game Maker, or any other game making engine. All resources and graphics in this thread are free to use in any commercial or noncommercial project, whatever game creation engine you prefer. Just be sure to credit Legacyblade.

(how was that for a keyword filled introduction)

Basically, I am posting a bunch or resources, and the poses you'll need for them for cinematic effect, and even use with ABS engines (yes, that means battle poses!). So, once this thread is complete, you won't need to go anywhere else for all your graphical needs!

Looks good!
Good luck with this project :)

I think you should place your hrs before the headings though.

First, aesthetically on the thread, what I dislike is the insanely huge size of the text. It may work on Eminweb, but definitely not here. I suggest you revise it. That's for me though, I'm sure other people beg to differ.

We all know how spiffy this is, so keep up the good work regardless.

@Aqua, what do you mean before the headings? I'm sorta confused. Glad you like it though, and expect to see some bad*** in a black robe soon.

@Calintz, glad you like it!

@Kirby, alright, I shrunk it down. The huge text was to make up for the lack of ability for  nested spoilers (look at the eminweb topic sometime, lots of spoilers, XD). And I'm glad you like it, and thanks for moving me to the database.

Why yes, yes it does look nicer. I hope this is Aqua was thinking of though. But I prefer it. Heh, I'm okay with either way anyway.

I can't wait for the future resources popping into this shrine. Let's populate the place up. :P

Small update, bloodlust Soldier added!
Title: Re: Legacyblade's Spriting Shrine

Hmm...the bloodlust fella looks somewhat weird, but I wouldn't say he's bad. It seems like a new style that I will have to get used to. I just don't think it matches the RTP, but it's nice. Good job Legacy!!

Yah, his sideview is a bit weird, I'm going to have to change it a bit, but for now, that's what he looks like. Glad it's not too bad to be considered crappy.
Title: Re: Legacyblade's Spriting Shrine

Hell NO!! Legacy. I would never call your work crappy!! You were a big inspiration for me when I was starting out!!
Title: Re: Legacyblade's Spriting Shrine
Post by: legacyblade on February 14, 2009, 09:28:23 pm
I was? But I was a lazy bumĀ  :ninja: Well glad I inspired one of the hardest working spriters.

Anyways, big update. I've added a character who has most of his graphics done (just a few weapon sprites need finishing), as well as a whole new category, the "spriter's resource" section.

Enjoy!

(sorry about how disorganization the heads are, I wa sn't sure how to organize them x_x)

BTW, a link sprite is on it's way, for all you zelda fans.

@shdwlink, it's part of a valentine (if you really want to know, look here (http://forum.chaos-project.com/index.php?topic=2797.0)) so it'll be done tonight.

@Calintz, thanks, glad you like it. It took FOREVER to do that sideview.

@winkio, thanks, it's nice to see you like my sprites
Title: Re: Legacyblade's Spriting Shrine
Post by: Calintz on February 14, 2009, 10:05:38 pm
Haha, yes...the tedious stress that comes with spriting can be quite relentless, "BUT," dare I say...rewarding!! ?? XD

BTW:
I am beginning to really get the grip on "my personal" style of spriting, and my new sprites are simply beautiful!!
If you want a good example Legacy, you can check out Blizzard's Debt inside of my Workshop.

I created his new Lilith sprite for CP. =)
Title: Re: Legacyblade's Spriting Shrine
Post by: legacyblade on February 14, 2009, 10:34:49 pm
Yes, it's rewarding in the fact that you can show them off and random people on the internet will say "good work" (plus they look nice in your game).

And I looked at your style. Gotta say, I love it. It's nice and smooth, but doesn't have a washed out look like most "smooth" styles. Spriting is easier once you figure out your style.
Title: Re: Legacyblade's Spriting Shrine
Post by: Calintz on February 14, 2009, 10:41:40 pm
It really is an art, just like drawing...

You have to figure out your own particular tricks, and once you master yourself.. .. ..it's all history from there... XD

**Keep up the good work Legacyblade!

Title: Re: Legacyblade's Spriting Shrine
Post by: legacyblade on February 14, 2009, 10:54:11 pm
ZOMG, lots of powerups!

@Landith, TOTALLY, you really should do some custom sprites. Compared to my first attempts, even a terrible n00b looked like a master spriter, so no matter how bad you are when you start out, you can get the hang of it. BTW, thanks for the compliments on the sprites, and the powerup.

@Gameguy, glad you like the Assasin. When I release a demo of my game, you can kill people with him in the prologue.

@Calintz, Yes, it is an art, though one that's MUCH easier than drawing (I cant draw like crap, no matter how much I practice, my hands aren't very useful when holding a pencil). I totally agree with the tricks thing, though. Once I figured out how to quickly shade metal, my spriting speed increases. Now that I'm spriting leather boots, I wished I'd learned something about spriting shiny leather though, XD

*edit

woot, just ONE more powerup until I hit 30!

Can't wait for the Link sprite by the way. Is it RTP Sized?
Title: Re: Legacyblade's Spriting Shrine
Post by: legacyblade on February 14, 2009, 11:23:20 pm
Thanks for the powerup, that puts me to thirty ^_^

And yes, the sprite is RTP sized, and sprited in RTP style, so it'll fit with the rest of the RTP and my sprites! I'm thinking of eventually making an entire Zelda RTP, but that will be awhile.

-edit

Link sprite is finished. Here's his preview

You can find the whole sprite in my first post.

P.S. Spriting floppy hats is heck, all floppy hats should be destroyed!

now I want to make a zelda game. But I will wait until Star Wars is done or at least a big part of it. Could you maybe make some monsters from link games?
Title: Re: Legacyblade's Spriting Shrine
Post by: Calintz on February 14, 2009, 11:41:53 pm
About the link sprite...

Aren't his underpants white?? You made them blue?
You did a pretty good job though, I'm not gonna lie!!

You make me wanna sprite Link, Lmao.

If you wanted me to help try and teach you how to sprite shiny leather, I will. :D
Title: Re: Legacyblade's Spriting Shrine
Post by: legacyblade on February 14, 2009, 11:45:59 pm
@Calintz, Yah, but I like blue. I tried it white, but it didn't look as pretty. Besides, they changed his color scheme a lot from game to game, so I figured giving him blue underpants would be fine :P

And glad you liked it, btw.

(also, if you could give me some pointers on shiny leather, that'd be great. I have a lot of sprites who need leather that I haven't made yet, due to a leather deficiency in my spriting).

@Game_Guy, Ah, yes. I want to make a zelda game too, but I don't have time either. And sure, I might as well base some of my monsters off zelda sprites.

MetaKnight, you should totally learn to sprite. It's hard at first, but it makes your games so much better.

BTW, if anyone wants to see a more organized version of my shrine, go here

http://www.eminweb.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=530&st=0&gopid=5295&#entry5295

It's more organized, since it allows nested spoilers

Honestly the spriters resource should have just walk abouts resources such as... like daggers and if you place them correclty it looks as if they're holding a weapon while walking casually

Title: Re: Legacyblade's Spriting Shrine
Post by: legacyblade on February 17, 2009, 06:51:11 pm
@game_Guy, yes eventually every sprite in here will have various weapon and skill poses. It'll just take some time.

@MetaKnight, the reason I don't have sprites walking around with their weapons out is this. People usually walk around with their weapons put away, unless they're in battle.

@chaze, cool ^_^ Show me a screenshot of them in game, sometime. (via PM or something)

(it's been at least 90 days, I think that's long enough a wait to double post :P)

I fixed the resource links, and even added a new resource :D I'm updating all the graphics and adding some new ones. Expect to see zip files for each character, as well as a ZIP containing EVERY RESOURCE soon. Nethera's many poses will be added to the shrine, and I'm making some sprites for Link in a barrel (currently I only have a single frame of him poking his head out of a barrel though).

I hope you all can enjoy the sprites I've posted. I'm also open to suggestions for poses I can give the sprites (I'm not taking requests, NOT taking them o.o Taking them gets scary)
Title: Re: Legacyblade's Spriting Shrine
Post by: G_G on January 30, 2010, 09:13:46 pm
hey that zip file can be uploaded in Resource Packs in the resource sharer. If its not under resource types you may have to redownload again.

Also to the blizz-abs pose thing, but each character in its own zip with all the poses and weapons, that might settle for what you want while I try to add members to the thing.

Title: Re: Legacyblade's Spriting Shrine
Post by: legacyblade on February 02, 2010, 07:08:34 pm
Lost 'em when the server went down. I'm making them again though. Just is tedious, have to go through my PSD files looking for the heads I want to use. They'll be back up soon, along with some blank bodies to accompany them (useful for visual equipment :P)
