No idea where to put this, XD
Ok, so I'm using tankentai's side view battler. It uses weapon icons in attack animations. Even without this,m it'd still be important, but it is even more so since the icons are so visible all the time.
I'll usually get a picture of whatever weapon offline, then scale it down to the necessary size. Then, when I import it, I set the transparency to white. However, this is the result:
(http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/7355/icon.th.png) (http://img237.imageshack.us/my.php?image=icon.png)
If I color in the nearly white tiles, it doesn't look right. There is seemingly no solution, as no icons that small for firearms seem to exist at all. What can/should I do?
Please and thank you ^_^
Corrected coding. ~Love, Starrodkirby86
The icon itself has more than just one background outside color. This is probably due to it being of a low quality, the author not taking good care of it, or you resizing something from Google Images.
In this case you would need to get an image editor and manually remove these nearly white pixels. If you want, I can do it for you. :P It's really easy work. Just upload the icon file here.
(If you have Photoshop, just put the file there, Magic Wand the white stuff, make sure it's transparent, and save as a .png)
you might want to make the background transparent in Photoshop or GIMP. if you want post the icon and i'll see if i get the same problem if i do i'll make it transparent for you
lol, posted at the same time.
What can we say? We're so helping for a task like this, Shadonking. :P
Maybe he can give a whole collection and battalion of icons and then I go, "Kay Shadon, you take the bottom half and I take the top! Gogogo!"
Boy that would be fun. :V:
yep that would be really fun :P
XD, well, when I try to edit it out with magic wand, it still doesn't looke right.
I'd love it if you guys could do it for me- my only worry is that obviously, this won't be the "final list" of weapons.
Anyways, I'm getting on it.
Would it work if I posted links to full size images with plain white backgrounds? It'd give you guys more control, and I wouldn't have to upload some 15 icons.
Either way, I need em at 45 degree angles, facing up and to the left, like that FAMAS.
Thank you.
I don't know...It can be easier if you just do all the angling yourself and let us just take care of the transparency...
Then again, I don't want a lot of work on my butt-end too. :V:
If the Magic Wand fails to do its job, change around some settings. For example, up or lower the tolerance (Making it lower will accept fewer pixels in its range and raising will accept more pixels in its color range). Check Anti-aliased if you want to have the magic wand get a nice border deleted out so it can look somewhat smooth. Check Contiguous or whatever if you want it to be contained in one area and not get all the colors for the one you chose...

ok, i'll see how many i can do for you
Shadon. I did a few already. :^_^':
Not all of these are resized to 24x24. That's uncool. :/
Here they are:

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/8083/glock17max192wsq50.png
It's just a few. There's plenty more in there...
EDIT: I'm going out, so Shadon, please take care of the rest.
Thank you both, VERY much ^_^
The resized versions SHOULD be in there. Some of them are intentionally a little bit smaller, like the glock. Otherwise when the character fires, it is larger than they are, XD
kk, iv done them. i'll slowly post them up when there uploaded
also the only one i havent done is PSG-1, did you need it trasparent at the current size or did you want it smaller
edit
http://www.sendspace.com/file/n8p3sa
here are the rest excluding PSG-1. i havent tested them to see if they look ok in game if they dont feel free to say
Thank you very much ^_^
Yeah, they all need to be icon size, if possible. I must not've resized that one yet ><
i'll post in later on then
here you go
http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/1856/psg1.png
its lost quality becuase of the resize but its the best i could get
Why would you intentionally size icons smaller than 24 x 24??
by smaller, I mean, like, 18 x 18.
Because it's still reletively visible, in a bit of detail. However, I'm using tankentai, which uses the icons when attacking. A glock 17, being a small handgun, shouldn't be AS LARGE AS THE PERSON FIRING IT, when one of the rifles in game is half the size, XD. I could think of no better solution. I know that at a certain point, the pixels just sort of melt together, but it hasn't reached it yet.
I suppose...
I mean, that makes sense, but it just wouldn't be 'my' preference.
**That said, I am interested in seeing how this turns out.
Well, in the edits which K&K (King and Kirby...wow, that's catchy) have made for me, if you LOOK FOR IT, you can see a bit of white, but it mainly just looks like an outline. It's MUCH better. Gimme a few and I'll get you a screenie.
if you wanted them cleaned up around the edges better i could edit it them a bit more tommorow if you want. i'll def need screeny tho just to see what they look like.
It's not really all that bad, and I'm not really sure that anything could be done, since there NEEDS to be SOME sort of gradient, or it looks flat. It's sort of a priority thing. Here's a screenie, either way.
Much more noticable on the pythons and the glock. Really can't see it on the FAMAS- it looks like the outline. I actually really like how that turned out.

here is my version of the coltpython http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/263/coltpython.png
they are shaded with the lighter colors so you will always have that outline effect.
I would suggest Pain.net. It's free and nearly as good as Photoshop.
And unlike Photoshom, it doesn't eat you computers RAM, nor do you have to break the law :P
http://paint.net/
i use GIMP, its also free and easy to use

How does having Photoshop mean you're breaking the law? And an application that eats RAM is far better than something with less features and advanced items. Just stating.
I should really have backgrounds set behind the icon to see what's up. But unfortunately I had so little time...It was almost time for me to go out. My apologies...

XD, you don't have to apologize for helping me out, XD. They look MUCH better than before!
Hey, who is that in your Avatar?
Personally, I prefer Pixelmator.
Unfortunately, that's not available for Win. And it costs.
But for free, definitely GIMP. It's very reliable and easy to use.

Hey, who is that in your Avatar?
The protagonist from Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4. It's an RPG on the Playstation 2. No, he doesn't have a name. You supply it for him. :P
