Mmm... use grammar... -____-
The rules are sooo bad grammar infested that it could be confusing to people...

You contradicted yourself when you said there was no prize except "braggin" rights and a banner, but you're making an event system for the 1st prize winner?

Anyway...
I'll judge.

I /might/ sign-up... depending on... stuff...

20 days? D:

I'll think about it... I know how hard it is to get contestants so I might submit a small game. :D

Um, I don't wanna look like a whiny bitch, but the judging guidelines seems a little lax. What about judging the story, or the music? It'd make a little more sense to judge story (plot, dialogue, characters), visuals (mapping, sprites, faces), audio (music, ambience, sound effects), gameplay (eventing, scripting, use of the ABS), and the fun factor. But that's just me.

When I've cleared my plate, I'll consider joining up. Probably with Nam again, once he gets back.

If I had time, I probably would. :/ On top of all I have exams the next 2 weeks.

EDIT: Put me in as a judge. The games should be done after my exams are over so I can play them without problems.

If Namk is up to the challenge we can have a closed competition between us two. It sounds a bit fun if Namk is that imaginative.

*slaps you*

Yeah, NAMK is that good. he already has a couple of time trials behind him so he has quite a bit of experience in time managament to get the game done. Last time I had to make him a partial CBS for his big game since he won the contest.

Wha-? Hey, you guys are making it sound like I'm a nobody who wouldn't stand a chance without Nam as my partner... ._.

Alright, I'm gonna sign up and work solo on an entry. Nam is busy with other things right now anyway, so this is a good chance to prove myself. However, this week is also midterms week for me, so I can't actually do anything right this second either. I'll officially sign up and start this Friday since all of my important exams will be over by then. Would that be alright?

Well... The solo game you made in VX wasn't all that great IMO. ._.; Yes, this is definitely a chance to prove yourself. :)

Considering that 95% of that was made on the last day and is on a system I'm not too used to, my VX entry is not exactly the best example of my work to look at... -_-;;

But hey, let me try to show you differently.

Post by: tSwitch on March 29, 2009, 10:16:08 am
hmm...as far as being busy goes, I can't tell until after my first full week at school

so, I'm interested in the competition, yes, but I won't be sure if I can start or not until I go through the week and see what's expected of me at school.  In other words, you'll know by saturday the 4th, whether I can join or not.

also, don't underestimate Zylos, people.  Go play Shadows.

I'm not underestimating him. I'm looking forward to see something better from him than the VX game. :)

Question: does removing the pre-menu count against the rules? It's a little annoying. ._.

Just put your custom CMS below Blizz-ABS :P

And no, I asked him if I could animate mine and he said "It's fine". So I think removing it would be okay.

Okay, I already asked but I need to ask again. For my simple menu system to work, I had to go in and remove a small section from the BlizzABS Part 3. And to fix an incompatibility with Blizz's script and one of my event systems, I had to add an extra two lines to Part 2. Are either of these two things against the rules (I'm asking while I still have some time to figure out some alternative solutions if I can't use them), or am I allowed to just go with these changes?

Zylos, have you tried updating Blizz-ABS yet?
Title: Re: Blizz ABS Contest
Post by: Zylos on April 19, 2009, 12:41:00 pm
Um, well no, I'm still using v.2.23 for my game. But, updating it won't fix the bug I need. The menu problem is admittedly probably just me being stupid and not knowing how to add in the CMS I put together properly without removing the pre-menu/menu section from the BlizzABS part 3. However, the bug with my event system requires me to either add two lines to part 2 to check if a switch is on, or go through the game and add a new conditional branch to every single event to check the switch instead. Obviously I'd rather just add the two lines and be done with it, but I have to check if it's against the rules first. If it's against the rules, I suppose I could go the long way of doing it. It would just be more of a hassle.

you're going to kick yourself, but I believe there's an option in the config app to disable that.

nope, there's only an option to change the tint of the screen.
