Title: Swimming Script Work in Progress
Post by: G_G on May 24, 2009, 12:26:58 pm
Here's a video of the Swimming Script.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3OjXLTWckk

Its in High Def so you can enjoy a better quality.

Blizzard helped me alot with this telling me where to put stuff and whatnot. If anything he made it :<_<: lol

Anyways Comment on it and I know its not that realistic but its only because of the graphics. I used legacyblade's nethera's body and head to do this.

Credits:
game_guy and blizzard for making it
blizzard for being patient with me
legacyblade for having his graphics

Comment please :D

And once I get it all fixed up I'll post the script.

Thanks. Yea it was frustrating getting this to work properly and it still doesnt work all that well.

And I'm sure Blizz is more frustrated having to hekp me so much.

Meh, not that much. I'm easy-going with many things today. You don't have to post a new topic, simply edit the first post and apply the template.

Its still a WIP yea it looks like it works jsut fine but I had troubles with the sprite changing thing and I had to use a parallel process to see if the player was on the water.

Can't this be done with events also??
I haven't gotten around to it, because I'm not that far into my project, but I was gonna give this a shot later on in my game (using events).

Yea its possible but you'd have to have alot of events. You'd need events to surround the border of the water that way if the player presses it and is facing towards the water it'll jump in. But yea you'd need alot of events to surround the border.

Wouldn't be that bad though ...

Simply make a common event that handles all of that crap, and then run events around the border that activate it on touch, or when the 'C' button is pressed when you are parallel to the swimming hole. It could be done, and I believe I will do it that way ...

At any rate, for simplicity, good job once more Game_Guy. Don't give up. Looking forward to the finished version ...

I did just get an idea though.

Eitehr way it still can cause lag. I'll try to get this whole thing done today or tomorrow.

It CAN be done with events and there will actually be no lag. But G_G asked me to give him a script suggestion since he was bored so I did. :=:

Yeah, I didn't think there would be lag at all.

Not one of these events that need be placed will have an animation of any sort, let alone any graphics at all. I use this method on many occasions in my game, and I have yet to experience a problem with lag.

I will create a system at some point in time. When I finish it I will let you know Game_Guy.

Sadly this script has already been made ;__;

I might just probably make it compatible with blizz abs if it isnt already ;)

EDIT: And what I find funny blizz even posted it in it which makes me wonder why he suggested me scripting it xD unless he forgot  :???:

Still I'll try to make it compatible with blizz abs if I can.

Well, there were already ABSes before BlizzABS, so it wasn't novel or anything. Doesn't mean it isn't the best.

True I tested it out it works way better then what I had but I can still make it work with blizz abs that'll be my job here. Or at least I'm going to try.

Of course there already is one. But that there already was an ABS didn't stop me with Blizz-ABS either. ;)

That actually makes sense. Whats stopping me from remaking another one but with more features? Nothing. Just because a script exists isnt stopping me from making one. And its not helping me get better either.

That's the spirit. ^_^ Half of my scripts wouldn't exist if I didn't think that way. *points at Blizz-ABS and RMX-OS* ^_^
