Script Request Templatei was wondering if someone could edit the default hud in the XAS Hero 3.4 to hav a mini map that resembles the one in the blizz-abs only circular. all this in RMXP of course
Detailed Description:i would like the color the same as what it is in the screenie with the opacity or whatever the same as the minimap in the blizzabs. except where u can walk i would like it to be a greyish shade you can choose. the main character needs to be a yellow arrow, treasure chests are blue, enemies are red, and save points are purple. if this isnt descriptive enough lemme know ;)
Screen shots:http://i786.photobucket.com/albums/yy149/XXXArchXAngelXXX/XAS_SC01.png?t=1246859321
Other Scripts I am using (in order):Rune's 5th CMS
XAS Hero 3.4 Edition
Easy Party Switcher by Blizzard
Winkio's Custom Gameover
Shdwlink1993's Teleportation Script
You can forget the circular thing. It's not possible without quit some lag or a rectangle overlay on the minimap to cover some stuff so only a circular area is visible.
And besides, I doubt that anybody will make you a Blizz-ABS minimap for XAS.
I must agree with Blizz. Just change tha XAS to BABS. I don´t know much about XAS, but BABS may be better. That seems to be the general opinion on this (:P) and many other forums aswell.
Or, if you don+t want to change, try asking at some other place.
OK, C.C. rOyAl, listen:
I wasn't always a "blizzABS fan". I used XAS before. Let me tell you, the demo of XAS may look flashy, but it can't do much more than BlizzABS and is so hard to use that it is nearly unusable if you want to do more that just a 30min game. Look at BlizzABS: it has that nice little config program that lets you set up everything without even looking at the script. You can even use the XAS HUD etc. on BlizzABS, as my edit of it shows, to make it look at flashy as XAS.
After all, it's your decision, but I doubt that Blizz will convert his Minimap for XAS, just like Sony won't make games for any Nintendo console. lol.
QuoteSony won't make games for any Nintendo console.
thought they made 1
Maybe, since there were plans for sony to make CD games for nintendo, or something like that. It could be a leftover from that.

AFAIK that project failed and Sony made the Playstation. Nintendo had an "awesome" CD project with Phillips though.
Whatever, offtopic.
C.C. rOyAl, most people here in CP know BlizzABS better than XAS. That means if someone would make an HUD for you, he first would have to learn how XAS works. And I don't think that someone will do that as XAS is a huge fuckin script.
(I don't want to offend you)
well crap, that sucks. i heard the blizz-abs was easy to use so i played the demo to see how gameplay was and no offence to blizzard in any way, but i thought it was really boring. There wasnt a combo system for it so it was like the default battlesystem to RM2K3 for me. i had to wait to attack in a way. if i could learn to fix it i would definatley use it. is it possible?
Maybe before criticizing a game, you should read the topic.

Definitely. And, you're right, the demo gameplay isn't that flexible (look at what Blizz wrote), but don't judge the engine by the demo^^. Winkio is making a BlizzABS demo which is just as flashy as the XAS one.
I'm not a scripter, but combos would even be possible by common event, so it also could be done as a script.
It should actually even be very easy.
And I also see that you aren't an advanced scripter yourself. If you ask Blizzard a question about BlizzABS, there is a big chance that he will answer it within 24 hours. What about the scripter of XAS? I've heard that it is nearly impossible to contact him.
But whatever, it's your choice. It's not like I have to "convert" you to BlizzABS, I'm just telling you that it's easier to handle and can basically do the same things.
I agree with Ss_N, in that we´re not converting you. We´re not a religion (or are we :P) And these new BABS versions come with the program that generates the first part of the script. And the wait to attack is just basic delay, which can be configured to be 0 frames or it can be 100 frames. It´s up to you.
I´ve never tried XAS, and i´m all thumbs in scripting, but i´ll tell you this about BABS; it´s very easy to use, and confirgure. And here at CP we have lot´s (or at least many :P) more-or-less talented scripters, who will probably just be glad to help you. But, this is just my opinion, you have your own opinions and decicions.
yes, the demo sucks for bABS. But that was a barebones use of the bABS back then. And that was forever ago, in terms of bABS features. Just take a quick glance through the manual and see just how awesome bABS really is. You can have multiple party members attacking alongside you, make enemies leave corpses that will give you the dropped items, make traps that explode when enemies step on them, etc. It has many more features than XAS, is less lagy, more easy to use, more versatile, and makes making a great game easier.
Its like the church of Later day saints here.
A Blizzova's witness.

Blasphemy! You're using XAS? Have you heard of Blizzard? He scripted on his chair for all our games.
With BlizzABS you get so many features, you must convert now.
I am LDS and I find that statement very offensive :V:
lol, I love how we all get up in arms against XAS.
All i wanted to say has already been said :^_^':
About the flashyness, it can easily be reproduced on bABS.
WAY LESS LAGG!!!!!
Easier to use, and configure.
Not fully in spanish =D
Drops are easier to be seen.
Minimap rulz over XAS
The only disadvantage is teh HUD, its not really as nice as XAS....... But sum1 scripted that for us too!!!! :P :P

I can attest to that one personally. Blizz-ABS looks, without a doubt, BETTER than XAS. I've been putting a lot of work into making Dissipate, my example game for BABS, better looking than the XAS demo, and it is amazing how capable and easy Blizz-ABS is.

That would be me ;). I made that HUD in a few hours, just by looking off the default ABS and adding in my own stuff. Any scripter worth their biomass loves Blizz-ABS, and making addons for it, because it's so damn easy and nice!
My view of the situation:
Blizz works on an ABS. So does this other dude, which we will call X. B and X both release their systems around the same time. They are very different and have different strengths and weaknesses. Then Blizz spends years of time working on improving his script and fixing its weaknesses. X dissapears into thin air, and some other guy maintains X's script and adds stuff to it periodically, but doesn't really address any of its weaknesses. The one thing that this new guy does right is that he creates a good looking demo of the concepts of the system, which allows him to present it in a way where he can emphasize the strengths and gloss over the flaws. Blizz whips up a demo game, showing how his system could actually be used in a full game, thus including both its strengths and weaknesses. Blizz then proceeds to work more and add more, while the other new guy works on a new demo and a few small pieces of code. Blizz finally finishes his awesome system, with amazing new features that blow the other system out of the water. The other guy releases a new demo that is even more sparkly and glossy, yet still contains a system with the same underlying weaknesses. Blizz gets pissed because the crowd falls for some cheap trick instead of a quality system that he actually put a TON of work into.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that's about present day. He's just waiting for someone to make an epic example game so he won't have to put up with this shit anymore.
Hope that gave you all some good background.

winkio... that's when you come in!!!
I'm just waiting for LB to finish the new CoSLAL sprites and then I can finish and release CoSLAL E.X.A. Edition. xD
BTW, winkio, Subsonic_Noise made XAS's HUD work with Blizz-ABS. *points to his topic in the script database* :D
Oh yeah, I saw that earlier, must have slipped my mind. :???:
wow im really surprised and pretty honoured all you guys r commenting, and u guys just pretty much converted me. especially winkio. thanks guys. btw i would rather have a minimap and check out dylans hud and see how that looks than get the hud for XAS which will be a last resort. thanks guys you really opened me up and ur by far the best forum out there. and lastly blizzard, im really sorry for being so ignorant bout ur abs. i played around with it a lil bit after u wrote that comment about critizing it, i loved the features.
