Title: Raw Power
Post by: Blizzard on August 09, 2009, 02:15:48 pm
Song. Sample. Idea. New. Me. Sex.
... Ok that made no sense whatsoever. f(°_°) Anyway, I've started working on a new song. It might turn out to be a fullblown Techno song rather than Hard Trance. This is a mere sample and not even close to a song.

EDIT: Meh, take the full sample.

EDIT: Concept Demo. :3

EDIT: Done. Get it while it's hot (in other words before I delete it).

If he just wants to do this kind of music, let him. Not everybody needs to make every kind of music. It won't be good if he doesn't enjoy it, and I don't think he will enjoy making music he doesn't like.
And he obviously doesn't like the kind of music you like.
I'll update this with my opinion about your music in a moment.

EDIT: It has potential, but I don't like the sound of the high synths you used. (Which ones do you use?) Also, their rythms are a bit too chaotic for me. It's probably supposed tp be like that, but it really distracts me. Perhaps you should add a bass with an easy rythm to fix that.

Advice to overzealous music critics: stop putting words in Blizz's mouth.

Blizzard is very talented, and it shows in his music.  I'm not saying that it wasn't good.  I was just hoping to get him to experiment with something a little different.

I might have to confine myself to the script and project sections if this keeps happening. ._.

EDIT: actually, instead of avoiding the idiocy, I'll just take people less seriously each time it happens.  ;)

You won't find music that you like with me. I make electronic music and that kind of "music" IS repetetive, it is not symphonic. Even when it is symphonic, it's still repetetive.
I won't make music I don't like to listen to. I don't care what everybody says about electronic music, I like it. In fact, I don't consider it music. I don't actually listen to music. Electronic "music" is a mere exception.

It's not a high synth. It's a very low synth created with Wasp on full distortion. The rhythm isn't chaotic, it's actually very simple.
"16 - - 16 - - 16 - - 16 - - 16 - 16 -" (like in Cold Fusion while playing the part that isn't "chorus")
For Raw Power it's a melody of 16th notes where the 16s are missing. It just sounds chaotic because through experience I have learned that if you take away the major lead notes in some melodies, you can get a melody that sounds both familiar and original without (most) people noticing that you are actually reusing the same pattern over and over.

I actually am experimenting here. Usually I make Trance or one of the sub genres. This songs draws more toward a harder style like Techno. Yet I will try to make the song sound like Trance. It won't be Hard Trance, it will be something between Hard Trance and Techno. Cross-genres FTW. And besides, it's just a sound sample. It's going to sound a lot different in the end anyway. I appreciate any comments, but saying that it doesn't sound good doesn't make much a difference here.

Yeah, I knew I didn't describe it well, I'm not really good in describing things like that in english, but you probably got what I said. If it's supposed to be like that, I'm sorry, I usually don't listen to electronic music too much. (But I think I liked Cold Fusion more =P)

You like to start arguments, do you? ._. You, of course, are perfect and always right. At least that's what this sounds like. As he said, he IS experimenting here, just compare it to cold fusion (The only other song of him I listened to so far XD) And the only thing I said is that he won't make music he doesn't enjoy. You wouldn't go to a metal band and ask them to play blues because you don't lke metal. If he wants to make electronic music and does it well, let him do it and go to listen to music you like. Or make it yourself.
There are absolutely no reasons to be offending or start a conflict (again).

winkio thought that you put words in my mouth. I was just giving him lurve for that comment. I love to use it against people who strongly disagree with me and try to beat my arguments by putting words in my mouth or twisting them.

Cold Fusion was the first step toward this song. My other songs are much more melodic. I can upload my "most recent album" for you if you want.

Fine then Blizz.  Although you could make some pretty awesome music in other styles, I won't bother you.  ;)
By the way, it's not just symphonic that I like/listen to (don't know where that got started...).  I listen to pretty much everything, even industrial (which is pretty much all percussion), metal (I listen both for the badass-ness of the riffs and the comedy of the lyrics XD), and other crazy stuff.  I could give an in depth point of view on electronic music, but it really has no place in this thread (along with 80% of the post text in this thread...).

There was nothing wrong with a little nudge in a different direction, so now that we are all chill about that...

Many composers ENJOY diversifying to different styles every once in a while.  And I'm done posting in this thread, don't care THAT much about it.

K, but he did it in a way that I found quite offending. >.>

So, back to the topic. After all I know about electronic music (nearly nothing), it sounds awesome because of many different overlaying rythms, so I can't really tell now how it will sound in the end, but, as I said, it has potential^^ But I would love to hear some more bass in there. I like bass.

Blizzard needs to make an epic trance piece using an extensive amount of piano coupled with violins, cello, bass, flute, trupets, and other instruments you might find in an orcastra. I think we'd all like to hear him being godly. Still, trance music is Blizzard's forte and I'm like this piece alot too.

Also, could you please start adding some tags on your .mp3s? I'm not sure about what you're using, but in Audacity it's just 30 seconds of typing stuff in before you encode it, and it makes music management easier (for example, I can find all your songs by searching Blizzard if you use the Artist tag). Just a suggestion, and I understand that this isn't final and all, of course >_<

Does anybody have an idea how I could finalize this?
http://downloads.chaos-project.com/blizzmusic/Blizzard%20-%20Raw%20Power%20(Non-Final).mp3
It's just too monotone at specific places. I do have a synth melody that can fix that, but I don't want to destroy the song's style and the acid doesn't seem to be enough.

EDIT: Ok, done. Thanks for the feedback on this original post. -_-
