lol?

Hmm. Instead of being rude, and saying "have fun with it and all", why don't you just tell me if you wanna sign up or not?

And it would help if you told me what's cliche, and what's not. :P And what the hell is not cliche about CP?
Mine and Blizzard's forums have basically the same stuff, if not, he's missing some from mine, and I'm missing some from his.
And the layout and theme, in a way, who gives a flying fuck about that, winkio? All I am doing is looking for my first members, and instead, I get a rude response. :P

And most important of all....
Spoiler: ShowHide
lol, winkio. It's all right. I personally don't care what you say about it. Because, well. I love everyone at CP! And I am confident that some will want to join my forum. So, winkio, I still love ya! :naughty:

EDIT: SPAM INCOMING!  SKIP TO PAGE 2!!!!!!!!!

Just to preface this, I don't dislike you.  My post was not condescending at all.  It was sincere.

Cliches:

QuoteBecause, not only is Decisive Games about video game development, it's about you too!

QuoteWorking hard to bring you good games

QuoteFounder of Decisive Games

the artwork and visual style in general

Even more honesty for you:

You take yourself way too seriously.  CP has been around for years, and it has Blizzard, who is an exceedingly competent leader and organizer, as it's backbone.  Your site just isn't at the same level.  And it shouldn't be, because you just started it.  What I'm saying is that I doubt it will be able to compete, unless it is extraordinarily unique.  Make it, enjoy it, grow it, but don't chain yourself to it.

And even Blizz's forum can't output games at a successful level. o.o You don't have much hope, but I like your spunk.

Listen, winkio. I don't, and never have taken myself way too seriously. Saying something like that to me, is just, well, insulting. People who take them selves way too seriously? I don't really care for them.

And you know what makes Blizzard's site so unique, in my eyes? The members. That's what makes any site unique, despite what you say, winkio. Not the theme, layout, artwork, or anything else. There are many sites with a theme similar to Blizzard's, there are sites with a domain name that's made out of variations of the name Chaos Project. But none of that matters. like I said, it's the members. So why is my site NOT unique right now? Because, I don't have members, that's why.

What I was hoping to do, and you probably didn't realize, is start out with maybe at least, five, ten, twenty members so they can enjoy the community, tell their friends about it, and then it grows, grows into something unique. That's all I was trying to do, that's all, winkio. I hope you realize now, realize now what I was trying to do.

And you too, Diokatsu.

Right, I can see that everything I said was ignored.  It's like a religious debate with a fundamentalist.  I mean, your entire personality is cliche, so much that you don't even know what cliche is at all.  I now wonder if you are even capable of original thought, or if your unique personality has been replaced by popular culture.  I sincerely hope that changes for you.

My best friend in high school started an internet forum in 9th grade.  It was a tech/comp sci/gaming forum.  He got around 40 members very quickly and it was a thriving site.  My friend was an excellent coder and scripter, and we all had tons of fun.  What we didn't have, though, was a competitive edge.  In a year, the forum was down to 6 active members.  The cause?  Lack of content.  People stayed to get coding help but that's about it.  Now, my friend is an admin at dream in code, a coding only forum.  Dream in code has thousands of active members, and there are constant contributions and content expansions.  Therefore, dream in code has a competitive edge, and has grown instead of shrunk.

Now you don't seem to synthesize information very well, so here's the short explanation:  content is what keeps members active and coming back.

Also, you are taking yourself way too seriously RIGHT NOW.  Think about it if you can.  If you don't understand it, ask somebody what it means.  It's a very bad thing to do, especially when you have a new idea or if you are in an argument.

And for the love of god, learn how to use english.
QuoteWhat I was hoping to do, and you probably didn't realize, is start out with maybe at least, five, ten, twenty members so they can enjoy the community, tell their friends about it, and then it grows, grows into something unique. that passage was abysmal.

Winkio.. dude... who pissed in your cheerios, I thought you were the nice one. This forum doesn't have 1k active members and you know it. It may have over 1k registered members but even I can be considered an active member any longer. I'm probably demoted to observer now.. not like my spamming days.

Branden.. you need to have a reason for people to join your forums.. dems the breaks. This forum has Blizzard, who happens to be a good scripter. You have absolutely nothing.. no reason for anyone to join. I am cold, I am an asshole, yeah.. I know.. but, its tough love.

Winkio doesn't know how to express shit from trees. When he replies its like he wants to form a thought in the form of criticism but it comes out as ironically cliche.. and something that you hear from rmxp.org. I dont know if you know this or not, but I hate rmxp.org with a passion.. the passion of christ.

Okay, well with that said. I dont care for your forums much.. the interface looks gaudy, the forum itself is too large.. and you might want to wait until you have actual members for you to add that extra stuff on to it. I hope this post makes you angry, I hope you want to prove me wrong.. I hope it burns into your brain.. because hatred is a good motivator for you to get shit done. Hate my direct hatred of your forums, find a reason for people to join your forums, and grow your community. When you come back, shove it in my face as well as winkio's.

Edit: I read the first post, and I have to say winkio has a strong point sortof..  I mean if you remove all the insults from his post and take it with a grain of salt.. yeah..

These posts make great points, minus all the negativity directed at Branden, actually.

It's such a shame that something has to escalate towards this, but it does give a good idea on how to form up a great site. You need to first have content that will attract a few members, and then you need to keep adding more by yourself. Eventually there should be enough members (Provided you snatch the correct ones) that have content to contribute within the site themselves and a new thriving community is born.

I won't tolerate any bashing in this thread, if there is. winkio, I'm not fond of some of the tone in your posts here (Except the first one), but whatever.

I'll end it with this.

lol e-drama

I kept it completely clean until the last post, in which I was trying to get a response to gauge if Branden really meant what he was saying.  I won't type another few sentences of my reasoning that you will skip over, but what I was trying to do was help Branden understand that creating a great forum isn't as easy as one two three.  Until the last post, I wasn't trying to be mean at all.  I mean, I underlined the main point of the second post, Make it, enjoy it, grow it, but don't chain yourself to it.  Not mean at all.  Why did I go through all of this?  Because every day, I meet more and more smart people who could be such better people if they had the right attitude.  I now accept that people do not want this forum to be a place for me to work on this.

So, sorry to everyone, especially Branden, and I hope you might have gotten something good out of this.
Also, I don't have mod privileges here, but somebody who does should split this out.

Goddamn, winkio... I'm sorry. All of this negativity was my fault, and it always has been. I've started it everyone, I've started all of it. Just because I couldn't accept criticism, so can everyone just please stop complaining about winkio being a hard ass to me? I'm the one that started it.

Again, I'm sorry.  :(

This site has the same initials as child porn
B^U  and there is my witty joke that took four panels to explain.

my thoughts
I like the site, its got a neat design
Though on the portal I recommend dropping the Shopmotion for it leads to a different site.
To do so go into your Admin Panel

Go to modules > Forum Widgets Management
Then look at the little window and look for Shopmotion and delete it by pressing the red x on it

I'll register sometime today and start posting to get the forum started.

I've been talking to Branden... and now he has SMF... :x

Of course... since he was using a forum host before...
He had to move to a webhost.
(More like I [voluntarily] did everything...)

But I had a problem with uploading...
Probably my sucky internet.
So I'm trying to fix that.

Then I'll let Branden tell you his new site XD

Member count of his forum: YOU
Active members: Imma let you Finnish

Honestly though, it's not like RPG Maker a new concept either :p Successful forums are the conjunction of innovative/interesting ideas, active user bases and regular, consistently high quality new content. If you think your forum has that, then it should succeed, but RPG, again, is old now and the forums established already such as CP are already taking in the new market of users.

What the fuck you talkin' about? I've always asked you to fix it 'til it got up to the point that you said you "would never have the time" to fix it. If you were trying to fix it, you should've said so instead of telling me you "would never have the time."

Now the old one is gone, so oh well.

EDIT:
Well... apparently, Aqua wasn't being serious when she said she would never have the free time to fix it. Sorry Aqua.  :uhm:
